“Surprise! Good food, good service”
Reviewed 17 November 2013

We don't expect much when visiting a typical Sport Bar & Grill. We like a nice beer selection - and Stout's beer list was adequate. We would have loved a few more Double IPAs but Stone's Arrogant B*st*rd is always a decent default beer.
What was really a nice surprise was the food and the service. Everybody was cheerful and pleasant. Our waitress was Heather and she was prompt and good-natured. We shared appetizers with our guests and we were all tickled pink with the quality of the food. The Fish Dip (served with warm mini pita bread) was simple, clean and flavorful. Generally we avoid seared tuna in a pub - but this was perfectly prepared. The chicken quesadilla were unexceptional - but okay....not the worst we've ever had. The mini shepherd's pie was wonderful. There was plenty for us all to share. The gravy, potatoes, vegetables and meat were downright tasty. What a treat! Wish this pub was around the corner from our house!

“Good Place, Food & Staff. But... There are problems”
Reviewed 20 September 2013

The first thing would be to comment on the good of the place. Upon arriving you notice a nice fun atmosphere, then you walk in and are greeted by very friendly and helpful staff. Our waitress Ashley was very nice, friendly, helpful and had present just enough, leaving room for privacy but always keeping an eye on the table. (Definitely would recommend)

The food was good. Dishes that were sampled are: fish dip (w/ corn chips and jalapenos), grilled wings.

Now, the negative, which to me some are unacceptable.

The first to mention is that even though the beer selection seems nice and varied there were many beers that were on the menu that were "out". Including the stouts (excluding Guinness). So, for a place called stouts to only have Guinness and be out of the other stouts is a little ridiculous, I can get that anywhere.

The second to me which is unacceptable is potentially a legal issue (bait and switch). On the menu you have a set price for the beer flight (their version of a beer sampler) which is $7.00 however when you get the bill they are $8.00. The waitress, really nicely explains that they used to be $7.00 but the glasses were not filled too the top... now that they are filled to the top it is $8.00. Which is an absurd reason to have to tell the customers. She then kindly offered to get the manager or, have it taken from her tip.

However this is no fault of the waiting staff. I entirely blame management for this. 1) When you decide to make a change like that you should NEVER just change the prices in the system before getting new menus. Very very bad decision on managements part. It's a lack of proper prioritization. 2) Management should never put their waiting staff in embarrassing situations like this. Especially when they intentionally change the price and make the waiting staff give the previously lousy excuses. (like the one previously stated)

Another down side is that there is no service on the outside tables. you have to order at the bar and then take it outside yourself. The reason given to me was that when it is busy the waiting staff would have a hard time taking care of the customers outside. This, again is due to poor management. A good manager would be able to "manage" their staff, by assigning the section appropriately during busy hours. (e.x. Telling a waitress she is in charge of outside only, for the next hour etc.) But, again management should "know" this.

The hospitality industry is about the customer and making their experience as good as possible. If a customer wants to sit in the outside seating area, then they should not have to work for their food and drink by also playing the role of waiter. It's not like they are going to end up tipping themselves!

Very poor management thus far. Hopefully it will get better.

Other than that the menu is what you would typically expect from an British/Irish pub. Prices are average to below-average on food and liquor as compared to other similar establishments. Beer prices, however are good compared to other similar establishments.
