We absolutely loved staying here – the room, the lake and the hosts made for a perfect visit. I had originally booked room 2, and it is gorgeous – it looks newly furnished and has a huge bed, and enormous bath. But when we saw the view from room 6, we upgraded and didn’t want to leave (ever) - it’s so lovely to sit and look at the lake from the porch. Room 6 has the bedroom separate from the main living space, which has the kitchen, a table to seat 4 and a comfy sofa. On your arrival the fridge is stocked with milk, juice, yoghurts, bagels and cream cheese, along with cereals in the cupboard (we stayed 2 nights, so were given enough for 2 breakfasts). As the other guests were off fishing we had the place to ourselves, so it felt like we had our own private beach to lounge on, the deck to relax on and the fire pit to watch the sun going down. The owners are such lovely people, really helpful, but never intrusive. We can’t wait to go back.

My husband I wanted to experience this part of Florida. We live in southwest Florida so booked a three night stay at The Nest. Perfect selection! Large moss-draped oak trees welcomed us from the gate. The property is beautiful and superbly maintained. Our room was charming, professionally decorated by the owner. We took out the rental pontoon boat on site and barbecued on the deck near the beach. Breakfast bagels, yogurt, juice and coffee were provided in our room frig. Loved our whole stay and look forward to returning. Actually I wouldn't mind moving in, but I think they may notice since they live in the house closest to the lake.

Room Tip: All rooms are great. Wonderful decore.

We stayed 2 nights and it was perfect. The property is beautiful with towering oaks with Spanish moss and a great beach and dock area. The owners welcomed us like old friends and shared a ton of information about the area. It was also great to sit around the fire pit and chat with the other guests. Everyone was so nice! Can't wait to go back.

My wife and I stayed there this week for 2 nights and LOVED IT! We basically had the entire place to ourselves midweek which was great being away from kids and family and "de-stressing". Thank you to the many people lamenting in TripAdvisor "they wish they had stayed in Room #6". I had reserved room #2 but when we checked in we asked if we could get #6 with the porch and it was AMAZING. What a great way to enjoy cool mornings, hot afternoons and late evenings.
Lorraine and David's attention to detail from the time you enter their property gate is amazing. Gracious hosts, very kind, no detail left undone. Snacks left in the refrigerator, a/c temp just right, soft comfortable beds, solid, quiet rooms. I haven't slept that well in months! The decorating and the finishes of each room were great as well.
We took the kayaks out and went down to Gator Joe's for afternoon drinks and some shrimp - great way to spend an afternoon. Ducks on the lake, otters, blue heron visible all day. Sandy white beach, peaceful, nightly fire pit to relax under the stars, beach lounge chairs and umbrellas to soak up some sun, adirondacks on dock to watch the sunset.
Not sure I have said enough about this place to make you go there if you are still wondering!? Go, enjoy, relax and then come back. We live in Tampa and have decided this is the perfect place for a lazy couple nights every few months - a perfect hideaway.
Note: Big Bob's Italian across the street makes a GREAT margherita pizza!

Room Tip: Room 6 has a huge porch off side. It is only room to have this as well as a mini kitchen. Room is...

Our recent stay at the Nest was perfect. The accommodations and property were superb.
The owner Lorraine was so helpful in making out stay just perfect. The property with all the sitting areas on the large deck and beach made it difficult for us to leave to play golf. We stayed for 2 nights and wished we were staying longer.

My husband and I stayed the weekend for our 25th anniversary March 23 and 24, 2013. It was the perfect location. The owners were great and had everything ready for us when we got there just as requested. Beautiful decorated rooms, extremely clean, romantic grounds, and plenty of relaxation with food in the fridge and a beautiful fire going on the beach each night. Everything was just perfect. I would highly recommend this place to anyone. You can't go wrong. We definitely plan to make a return trip.

Room Tip: I would definitely choose Room #6 on returning. Has an attached porch that looks out over the lake.

5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 February 2013

We were able to visit The Nest over the weekend of Feb. 15, 2013, to celebrate my husband's 50th birthday. While it was unusually cold for FL, we enjoyed an incredibly relaxing two-night stay. Lake Weir is beautiful and peaceful. The accommodations and service were superb at the inn....Everything from the stunning sunrise and sunsets, to the diverse movie library kept in the front office, to the comfort of a warm fire, to the nearby little restaurants, to the parks made of this location a piece of paradise on earth. Highly recommend it! Thanks!
