“Taste of old Florida”
Reviewed 2 June 2014

A bit of a cheesy old FL feel to the place. Great seating out over the water. Gator tail and frog legs -- you gotta have 'em! My wife had the blackened mahi mahi which was actually better than anything but if you haven't had the gator and frog legs you just can't leave here without doing it. Service was a bit slow, though friendly. Don't like the tacky almost porn posters in the men's room, come on people, some of us have kids. Taking off a star for that.

“Excellent for a dockside bar and grill”
Reviewed 14 May 2014 via mobile

If you are interested in 1920's Florida visit Gator Joes. For a bar and grill the menu has a lot of choices. Seafood, burgers, and many appetizers, everything we tries was very good. Great services. Indoor and outdoor lakeside seating. We enjoyed our time in 'original Florida'.

“Great place, very busy, good food and wonderful scenery”
Reviewed 13 May 2014

Gator Joe's is just down the street from Ma Parker's house so we drove up from Mt. Dora to check it out. The place was really busy but it didn't take us very long to get seated out on the deck. They have a beautiful white sand beach where you can walk or sit in a chair. Kids were playing in the water. It was very noisy with everyone having fun and the different music playing in the different areas. Guys below us in a boat were sneaking their own booze, bad boys, We had a great, yummy lunch, lightly breaded, perfectly cooked, and great service. Afterwards we took our beers down to the beach and hung out there for a while. Great thing that they have going on there.

“Need to treat the customer's better! YUKKY WATER AND SERVICE!”
Reviewed 13 May 2014

We have been to this place a lot in the last few years since we moved to Florida, but did not have a pleasant experience this past Saturday...Went for lunch with friends...Had a wonderful seat on the back deck out over the lake. We go more for the view than the food. Food is average, but view and good service has always been a plus! 3 of us ordered water to drink and one ordered tea. It tasted like they took it out of the lake! When we complained about it (never happened before), the server was very unprofessional with her reply...basically saying if we did not like it, we could get bottled water, and told us it was $2.30 for each bottle, in a very unpleasant tone! While I know it is a bar and grill, I do not like alcoholic drinks. My husband and I are on Weight Watcher's and splurge about once every two weeks and go out for a meal...and we drink a LOT of water!! I did NOT order bottled water and it will be a long time, if ever, before I go back to Gator Joe's...we drove over an hour to get there too! They made lots of people mad on Saturday...while we were there for an hour, we watched them tell two different groups of 8 that they we not allowed to turn the 4 person tables around and put them together so they could all sit as one group! They were very upset...so let's see, I know they made 20 people mad on Saturday! Wonder how long they can make it like that?????
