Was searching for a local Bed and Breakfast as I was attending a Wedding in Orange Park in July 2007. I must say that everyone I dealt with was very kind and gracious. I was offered to stay in the Main House or the River Suites. As the Main House was to be the site of 2 Evening Weddings they suggested the River Suites as they stressed that it could be very noisy staying in the Main House on Friday and Saturday Night as there would be Evening Weddings both nights. So I made a reservation at the River Suites which my final bill for 3 nights was approximately $450. I must say I was disappointed in the condition of the room. The furniture was beautiful and the room nice on first glance. However, as our stay progressed I was more and more disappointed. The Room all in all did not seem to be that clean and had a well worn feeling to it. The Patio Sliding Doors were flimsy and hard to secure. There was a beautiful view of the St. Johns River and the Buckman Bridge but the small balcony had the Heat Pump sitting on it and everytime you tried to sit on the balcony you had to listen to the heat pump rattle which greatly decreased any pleasure you might have had sitting outside on the balcony to view the River. Also, there was no canopy over the balcony and in July with the sun beating down it was impossible to sit outside on the balcony and drink your coffee in the morning without melting!! The refrigerator in our room did not work - The drinks we placed in the refrigerator were nowhere near cold. On all 3 mornings we were not left enough coffee service for the 4 cup Coffee Maker so my husband hiked up to the Main House for both of us to have a cup of coffee. There were few amenities in the bathroom except for 2 small soaps, 1 small shampoo, and 1 lotion which were present when we arrived but never replenished. I specifically left a request for extra towels on our first morning but this request was not met. And on the final day (with check-out time at 11am) the room service person loudly knocked on the door at 10am to find out when we were leaving!!
Again---everyone we dealt with was very nice especially the staff in the continental breakfast room. The continental breakfast was very good except that a hot entree is only served on Saturday and Sunday Morning (and it was a very good Egg Bake.) Again, this establishment should not advertise as Bed and Breakfast as there is no real personal service and it is similar to staying at a chain hotel. I would not say "don't stay there" but also I would not say it was an outstanding experience which is what I expected.

My husband and I stayed at the River Suites at Club Continental for our anniversary. I thought the location was beautiful. At $220 per night however (I just noticed a previous review of someone that only paid $99??) it was a bit overpriced as I thought the rooms were a bit run down for that price. The view from the room was beautiful but the carpet was a bit dirty and worn as was the tile in the bathroom. Also the morning we were leaving I did find a huge roach on the floor. (luckily already dead) I thought the River Pub was very nice. It would have been nice to have access to the deck when the Pub wasn't open. (to sit and have coffee) I did not find the check in people very helpful with dinner suggestions or activities. We accidently ended up having dinner at the Hilltop Club which was wonderful. And apparently owned by the same people that own the River Suites. You would think they would've recommended it??

Overall good trip. Grounds are beautiful. I would stay there again.

Work recently took me to Orange Park and I was given two choices of hotel: The River Suites or the Fairfield Inn. I picked the River Suites and was not disappointed. A beautiful, quiet, out of the way setting directly on the St. Johns river, huge rooms and cozy next-door pub make this a delighful find. Add in the corporate of $99 per night (including free high-speed internet and breakfast) and this is one of the best values I have found anywhere in the world in my 40+ years of traveling. Highly recommended

We have enjoyed dinner at Club Continental many times but this was the first time we stayed in one of their rooms. It was a wedding weekend, there was only one scheduled, and it was my daughter's. We had a lovely time and our partying was pretty much over by 10 pm.
The accomodations were wonderful and the continental breakfast was great - their egg casserole was superb and having your first cup of coffee while looking at the river is a wonderful way to greet the morning. An extra added attraction was a beautiful view of a bald eagle sailing over the river. We live in Orange Park but I am tempted to spend a weekend here again.

Everything about the Continental Club was as good or better than promised. The rooms, the view - spectacular, the restaurant, the architecture, and the fascinating history. However, be warned, do not go when they are hosting one of their many weekend weddings. On our visit, the wedding party did exactly that, partied for two nights, all night. We got no sleep. The staff could not make them be quiet. We nearly called the police. So, go if there's no wedding taking place, but if there is, stay somewhere else!
