“Great Value Disney Resort”
Reviewed 29 August 2014

Rooms and grounds were all well kept and clean. The pool was well monitored and kept as clean as a huge pool that size can be with at least 2-4 life guards on duty every time we were there. Beds were comfortable and the fixtures clean. We go to Disney for the Theming and the parks so don't do a whole lot at our resorts. Great price and we loved our Toy Story room in the Buzz Lightyear wing although the Fantasia Area looked great as well. It was quiet at night so easy to sleep in and food court was going through renovations but still offered several meal options. We enjoyed it and would go back again any time.

Room Tip: Movies is the last bus stop of the Magic express from MCO so allow about 2 hours to get from MCO to...

We stayed at the Disney All-Star Movies Resort 07/27/14-7/31/14. This was our second trip to this Value Resort in less than 2 years. We opted to stay at this hotel again based on our previous experience PLUS we got a decent rate booking everything through Southwest Vacations. We took advantage of the Disney Magical Express and waited less than 20 minutes from the time we boarded, to actually begin traveling to our resort. Nice. Our check-in was smooth despite the desk staff initially having difficulty locating our information (clearly English was his second language) and while waiting, another employee came over and gave our 5 year old and 7 year old daughters balloons and carnations. We paid for a "preferred" room which basically means we get a room closer to the shuttles/pool/dining area and had no check-in or room issues. Our room was located in the Fantasia building which was cute but our kids have no clue what Fantasia is...they liked the hat and magic brooms and bucket statues as well as close proximity to the pool (2 years prior we stayed in the 101 Dalmatians building and by far our kids enjoyed Fantasia better). Room was exactly what we expected ~ basic. 2 double-beds, 1 small table with 2 straight back chairs, small bathroom and dressing area with a curtain to separate from the bed/living area. Room is equipped with a Mini-fridge which allowed us to store bottles of water and snacks but no microwave nor coffee pot in room. We did have a case of bottle water dropped off to us by relatives that live in the Orlando area as well as snacks...so we did not have to overpay at the dining room or Disney parks (nice perk if you have relatives in the area but I did read several folks online have even shipped bottled water from COSTCO direct to the resort to have ready for them upon arrival). Sure beats paying $5.00 for a bottle of water. Keep in mind that these hotel rooms are small, not fancy and not too magical...décor is dated ~ Disney themed wallpaper border & coat hook are really the only thing Disney about this bare bones room. Keep in mind...these rooms are designed to sleep, shower, or cool off from the hot Florida climate. Walls are thin so you can hear your neighbors so be sure to get a top floor room so no one is above you. Must admit that our room was clean and housekeeping did an excellent job of providing extra towels or Mickey Mouse shampoo and soap (when we requested it). We tipped our housekeeper daily so I am sure there was incentive to make sure we got what we asked for. Pool area was tidy and always exciting. Sorcerer Mickey fountain is the focal point and the kids loved swimming daily. Ping Pong tables and other activities are available. We did get annoyed with the constant chattering by the Activities Director who is leading the YMCA and various other water dancing and poolside activities. Who needs this when you are in Disney? Dining room was also just like our previous visit. Good offerings with somewhat reasonable prices. Kids loved the Mickey waffles each morning or French Toast sticks. We all commented that the food was good no matter what we purchased but felt that to buy things a la carte was pricey. Only real complaint is that they do not stay open late enough. No issues with transportation to the Magic Kingdom. Longest we waited was 20 minutes for a shuttle and that was because a tour group filled a shuttle in front of us. We did travel one time to Downtown Disney via shuttle and it was a long ride on a crowded shuttle with a tour group of 14-15 year old Brazilian girls who were laying in the aisles, singing, and partying....not a fun shuttle ride for a family of 4 traveling with little kids. Check-out was average. We tried to do the express check-out the evening before but we were met with an after hours desk staff that said we had to come back at 5:00 a.m. to check out. Ridiculous. The Resort needs to consider staffing folks and keeping the dining hall open later in the evenings...when guests are returning from the parks! It is obvious that this resort seems to cater to the tour groups and anyone hosting a Quinceanera party...which is okay BUT it makes it hard to find seats together on the shuttle/longer lines for shuttles/etc. Although we have no MAJOR complaints, we will probably pick a higher end resort with bigger rooms and new things to see and do. This resort fit the basic need of having a convenient, relatively inexpensive place to rest our heads at night so for that I say it was an average experience.

Room Tip: Select a preferred room. We liked the Fantasia building and ask for a room on the top floor (3rd fl...

My Expectation from Destiny had always been high, compared to my earlier visit to Disney All Star resorts, Their Quality of service has gone down, it makes you feel that you are in Days Inn or Other 2 star hotels.

Just came back from visiting Disney and we stayed here for almost 9 nights, Earlier we had stayed in All Star Music. the Rooms were very small and disappointing in cleanliness and facilities provided in the room, no shampoo, no replacement of Soaps, had to ask for everything like shampoo and Soaps the next day. The Quality of the Doors in the bath room was pretty bad and the showers worked ok. There were cigarette buds everywhere in the steps and in the pathways to Parking, The Quality of food in the Resort was pathetic, no good options for Vegetarians, I strongly feel that Disney does not want to cater to the middle class and are only focused on high class by providing them better service and facilities. The only plus from our stay was the Transportation to the parks, they are good and on time, but gets packed very soon. The advantage on staying in Disney resort is magic hours at the parks, other than that they offer no value for money in room, the beds were tough and pillows were over used.

I wish Disney improves quality of these places.I would never stay here again.

Room Tip: If possible stay in moderate resorts than these cheap resorts.

We stayed at this All Star from Aug 16-21st. This is my 9th time visiting Disney and the first and probably the last at a value resort. It took 7 hours for our luggage to arrive. I had to call the airline to make sure it was released to Disney, which it was, and every time I called the Disney luggage area I could barely hear them over the loud non disney music they were playing. I could tell they could care less about us. I called the front desk and was told a manager would call me back and I waiting over an hour for someone to do so and had to call back again and was told the same thing. At this point I marched down to the front desk. They were in fact very helpful at this point. She found our luggage, gave us 1 meal point per person in our party, and an extra fast pass per day. She did the best she could to make it up to us but I wish this did not happen in the first place.

After that every time I went up to the go to to the front desk (I wanted to pay down our room charge so it didn't get out of hand :) ) It was such a long line I didn't want to miss the bus to a park so I would try again later.

The rooms were okay. I realize I do not need a fancy room going to Disney since we are in the parks all day but having a nice room to come back to really makes it a nicer experience. I would recommend staying at a moderate for anyone looking to stay at a value. I don't believe the price was that different but the experience will be. They make you feel much more Disney.

That is good choice when visiting Walt Disney World. The price is good and there is a good pool. Of course the more expensive hotels in the Disney Resort has monorail to take you to the parks. And the All-stars use buses. Still the bus are really often and its great to leave the car on the resort and take "public transportation" to the parks.
If you are going with children, you must stay in one of the Disney Resorts. And the All-star (movies, music or sports) has the best cost/benefit.

Room Tip: Choose apartament far from the pool.... Garden view is much more quiet. The pool hours start at 8 a...

We stayed at the Disney All Star Movied Resort with our two grandchildren and were very disappointed. The rooms are very small, in need of a good cleaning and updating. The shampoo amenities were almost non existent - only one small bottle of shampoo for a party of four. The towels and wash cloths were made from very thin material. The food in the commisary was terrible . One morning the kids wanted biscuits and gravy and the gravy was so salty they could not eat their breakfast. Our wait at the front desk to ask a question during your stay was at least ten minutes and we were second in line, Parking on site and the bus transportation was good. We will definitely never stay at Disney All Star Movies again.

While I wasn't expecting much because of our stay at Pop, I was pleasantly surprised by this resort. The pool was large and had plenty of room, good food court, great staff. We stayed in the Toy Story building and were close to everything; car, food court, play ground and pool. Perfect location. We didn't use the transportation, it looked very crowded. But I have seen the buses at value resorts on past trips, so I had already planned on driving everywhere. Only complaint is Mouse Keeping threw away our personal toilet paper, theirs is really rough, thin and cheap. Already have reservations for a returning trip at Christmas.
