“Overall pleased, but problems with housekeeping”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 October 2004

Had a good time and was generally pleased with the rooms. Ended up in an older section but it was well maintained. Only real complaint was with housekeeping. They missed the first day so we called and were promised they would show up the next day. The next day came and same result. After having this happen 3 days straight I called and canceled housekeeping and asked for credit. They finally came that afternoon but then skipped us again the last 2 days. We are still trying to get the credit resolved with Sheraton/Starwood because they refused to credit us at checkout since the reservations came through Expedia. It's a fine place to stay, but don't count on housekeeping!

After reading the reviews here and taking everything into consideration, my husband and I chose this resort for our family of 6. This is the perfect place to stay for a large group. We stayed the week of Sept 14-21 and in the Lakes section. We had a two bedroom/two bath. A must with four girls, and their mommy! The three TVs were great! Some of the property was looking a little tattered (the grounds), but that was to be expected from the past hurricanes. Workers were all around sprucing the property up. Housekeeping was excellent! We had fresh towels, clean bathrooms, beds made every day. I felt guilty about it, so two of the days, I just put the "do not disturb" out. We saved so much money having breakfast in our room (i.e., cereal, oatmeal, pop tarts, etc.). That way we could start our day early in the parks, without having to stop for breakfast (not fun with 6 people!). Exercise rooms were great, pools were a blast for the kids, and there are so many activities for the kids to do if they get bored. Disney is about a 10 minute ride by car. We would definitely stay here again, even without the kids.

What a fantastic vacation spot! We stayed at a two bedroom villa in the Fountains area. 4 and a half people(our 2 year old counts a half I think!). More than enough room for all of us. Staff was friendly and attentive. Endless pools and hot tubs all immaculatey kept up. With all the activity centers and restaurants, you could conceivably stay at the resort and still have plenty to do on your vacation. Hurricane Jeane visited us while we were there, and we recieved almost hourly updates in the form of phone messages as to what to expect, what to do, and where to go if we needed supplies like water, flashlights, and candles...all proided at no cost! Now THATS service. Additionally, the proximity to all of Orlando's atractions (Disney, Universal Sea World, etc) is awesome. We were literally no more than 7 minutes to anyplace we chose to go. If you can stay here - I advise you to do it. We bought a timeshare while we were down there we were so impressed!!! ****** six stars!!!

We had this resort since 1993 but it was my first time there, it was so good it has 9 pools, internet it has everything, but i couldn enjoyed it very much because i was there a week and we went all days to the orlando parks so i used the resort only for sleep , and i was in the old area and even that was amazing ! very good resort it deserves 5 stars

We have just returned from the Vistana, and were a bit worried at some of the adverse reviews on here.

Dont believe a word of them, the resort is situated within easy reach of every attraction.... just 5 minutes from downtown disney.

We stayed in a 1 bed Cascades apartment and were very impressed with the facilities, the bed was huge.

The complex itself had good facilities, I would reccomend Zimmies for breakfast, as well as the bar in the evening.

One thing that we noticed was that their was always maintenance being done. Lots of staff looking after the resort.

All in all, a great place.

We recently stayed at the Vistana and had a great time. After reading these reviews, which were most helpful (and somewhat alarming), I used the Diamond checkin everyone was talking about. It is a good service they offer. Had we not been checking in 3 days before Hurricane Ivan was supposed to hit, it would have probably been very crowded. After reading these reviews, I had specifically requested one of the older units because I wanted peace and quiet. I got the Cascades, but it was really nice, clean, we had no mix-ups, and I got my peace and quiet. We had a beautiful view of a pond with bridges and ducks, and not near any swimming pools.
Aside from check-in, we had no further dealings with the office or staff. There really wasn't anything we needed.
Another helpful piece of information I got from this site is to not answer the phone. We told them upon check-in we didn't want the presentation, and they did call a couple more times, but we had our cell phones, and no reason to use the resort phone.
Our stay was great, and we would stay there again.

We were concerned after reading the reviews but were put in a 2 bedroom in the Fountains-very nice but unfortunately occupied by someone else-luckily they weren't there when we opened the door. We were re-assigned another Fountains unit and checked it out before we brought our luggage out of the car. The unit was very nice Had great service at the Flamingo Cafe. Hurricane Charley put a kink in our trip but all in all it was a pleasant stay. The front desk personnel seemed a little sparse and it took a long time to check in at about 7 PM. When the fire alarms went off during the storm the front desk had very little information about the resolution so we listened to a deafening alarm for about 2 hours. Facilities are very nice and comfortable and most of the staff was nice. Kitchen supplies are adequate but not if you really want to cook. It was hard to get towels during the rain but we survived. Would stay there again. A very good value. If you don't want to talk to a time share sales person just don't answer the phone and they will leave a message after a couple of days they will stop calling. Enjoy.
