When you need a hotel in Orlando, chances are you will just be needing a place to sleep as there are lots and lots of things to do, places to see. And if this holds true, HI Express Int'l Drive is perfect for you.

Clean, well appointed room. Cheap as well.

Filling breakfast of good assortment. For lunch and/or dinner, lots of choices around International Drive.

If you are in for an extended stay, the presence of a laundromat on 3 floors will serve you well.

My only complaints:

1) The bread could stand some improvement as it was obviously frozen and would still a bit soggy when served. Toasting it would solve this somewhat but, there are only 2 toasters available and it could get really busy in the morning when diners all come down at the same time.

2) Wi-fi signal was poor inside our room which was situated at the end of the corridor. Going out to the corridor itself boosted the signal to reach full bars.

Tip: when driving and coming from the south, make your way north to Universal blvd. via I-4 instead of passing through W Sand Lake road cor. Int'l drive. Besides being less traffic, it saves you the chore of turning left from Int'l drive to the driveway of HI which can become taxing.

Room Tip: Try not to get a room at the end of the corridors as wi-fi signal will be poor.

Stayed here from April 22-26 2012. The room was clean and cozy but a bit small for 2 Queen beds. The fridge and coffee maker were great to have. The bathroom was spacious but the water pressure was way too low for us. Great location on International Drive, however the hotel itself is down a long driveway right up against I-4. The highway can be a bit noisy while you're trying to sleep.
Free hotel shuttle to Universal and Disney, but these shuttles are actually very small vans. Be early to get on these shuttles so you have a seat. Also, there are only 2 trips to Universal (8:30 & 10:00), and only one to Disney (9:00) in the mornings. The same goes for pick-ups in the evening (5:30 & 7:15 from Universal and 6:30 from Disney). Very nice drivers though!
The free breakfast was ok. Always eggs and sausage and one morning they had bacon. Juice, cereal, bagels and cinnamon rolls were available also, among other items. If you don't like what's provided, IHOP, Denny's and Perkins are all just a few minute walk up the street.
Other restaurants in the area included Chili's, Popeye's and Golden Corral. A 24 hour Walgreens is nearby as well. The hotel is also within walking distance to Wet'n'Wild.
I was not greeted as a Priority Club member upon check-in. It would have been nice to be acknowledged as such. At check-out, another guy at the desk didn't ask how our stay was. He just asked for our room #. But he did call the hotel shuttle for us as we were heading to the airport.
All in all it was a nice stay.

Room Tip: If you are a light sleeper, request a room away from the highway.

Great Value, Clean, Friendly helpfull staff. Well situated, set a little back from the bustle of International Drive, which is good because International Drive can be very busy and congested at this point.

We stayed in the Holiday Inn Express at 7276 International Drive, in Orlando, Florida from February 8 to 25 and also from March 6 to 8 2012. We did find the hotel to be very conveniently located for all the activities along International Drive and also for shopping at the local malls. the beds were very comfortable and the breakfast buffet was well stocked and all the hot foods were nice and hot. Any of the staff we ran into were friendly and helpful. The one down side is that the hotel is located a short distance (about 200 meters) off International Drive and the drive way at night takes you through a couple of dark parking lots with large containers where persons could lurk unnoticed. We did not encounter any problems, nor hear of any. Along International drive there is a trolley system that operates all day long and gets you to all the attractions along the way including Seaworld and Universal Studios although Universal Studios is a walk of about one and a half miles from International.and the trolley stop. If you are there for a few days buy the longer trolley passes available and you can get on and off unlimited for the duration of the pass.
Hotel is a short walk from Wet and Wild, lots of good restaurants of all kinds of different ethnic foods. We tried The Tilted Kilt Pub, interesting atmosphere and reasonalbly good food, Wild Jacks Steakhouse, not very impressed with food, The Olive Garden - great service and great food, Friday's -great service and good food. Also ate at Hard rock Cafe at Universal Studios - excellent, service, atmosphere, and food, a bit pricey but worth it. Pool is small but clean and is on the ouside facing the highway so there is a lot of highway noise at the pool. Towels were avaiable at the front desk.

Room Tip: Although the interstate highway is just a short distance from the hotel the noise from the highway was not evident in our room on the fourth floor on side facing highway. If traffic noise is a real issue with you I would suggest you ask for a room on the International Drive side of the hotel.
