“Nice hotel, neat area”
Reviewed 5 September 2012

We chose the Boardwalk Inn because it looked so charming in the pictures - and it was in person too. The rooms were a comfortable size and ours had a nice view out over the water. We enjoyed the actual boardwalk outside the hotel as well - lots of places to eat and shop, plus a couple of nightclubs, including one for teens. (If you're using the Disney Dining Plan, be careful about where you eat - not all of those restaurants accept it.)

The location is good - you can walk to Epcot, or take a boat to Epcot or Hollywood Studios. You have to take a bus to get to the other parks. The buses come regularly so it was never hard to get where we wanted to go.

The biggest downside to the hotel was the lack of dining options inside. There was a bar where you could get pastries and coffee for breakfast, and cocktails in the evening, but that was it. Given the limited Disney Dining Plan acceptance outside the hotel, having a couple of places inside would have been nice.

Boardwalk in is walking distance to both Epcot and Hollywood Studios which is nice. It was faster to walk home from Hollywood than take the Boat. On the day we took the bus to the Magic Kingdom. We were the first bus stop and had breakfast at 9:20 at cinderellas castle. We were at the bus stop at 8:01 but the bus didn't show up until after 8:30 and we didn't see any buses pulling away on our walk. We were told the buses run every 20 minutes. We made it into the park at 9:05. We went home in the afternoon (convenience of being in the parks, right?) We tried to go back for dinner at Tonys in the MK at 7:30. We left to catch the bus at 5:30 (early so the kids could ride a couple rides before dinner). Again, when we got to the bus stop there were people that had been waiting for 10+ minutes and we waited another 20 minutes. The bus then stopped at Yacht Club, Swan and Dolphin. We did not get back in the park until 7:15.

As for the resort, it was very nice. The main pool had a great slide for big kids. There was a kiddy pool. The pools close if there is lightning (understandable). On the Boardwalk there are lots of little shops. If you didn't get the meal plan, buy a refillable mug for $14.95. I got morning coffee every day and Iced Tea at the Bakery in the afternoons. Well worth it!

Room Tip: ask for a covered balcony

We stayed in the Disney Boardwalk for a family reunion over the Labor Day weekend. There were 25 of us total! We stayed in one of the "Cottages" and it was perfect for our family of four. The lower level has a Sleeper sofa, half bathroom and kitchenette that we used for soda and water. The kids loved this area as they could relax and watch TV or play on their iPads. Upstairs is the master suite loft area with comfy King bed, flat panel TV and large master bathroom with HUGE jacuzzi tub (my daugher loved it), dual sinks, large shower and TV (she got to bath and watch TV, it was hard getting her out).

Our unit was located by the quiet pool which my kids still loved and we only used the main pool once. We ate at ESPN Club for dinner and visited the gift shop several times.

We were also club level with the InnKeepers Lounge and the food was excellend. We could go up their for breakfast and a light snack in the evening. They would actualy get whatever you asked for! My mom wanted a soda in the morning so they would go in the back and get her one.

The Boat to/from Epcot is quick and Easy. We walked over to the Dolphin for an amzaing dinner at Shulas and took the boat back. The only downfall with the transportation was the bus ride back from Downtown Disney. The Boardwalk is the 6th stop. We got on the bus at 11:15 and didn't pull into the Resort at 11:50 with two tired kids. But, we understand they are trying to save time and money by combining stops.

I would absolutley stay here again! My kids loved it, ALL of the Castmembers were nice calling my kids Prince and Princess, the room was spotless and even smelled clean (like really clean, not just cleaning products!)

Room Tip: Stay in the Cottages. Easy access to the Boardwalk and Lobby

We returned to the Boardwalk Inn August 26 thru September 1, another fabulous stay!

Check in is a breeze. We were met at the front door and whisked away to a private check in area in the Inkeeper’s Lounge.

2 of our 3 rooms were ready at 10am. We grabbed some breakfast in the Inkeeper's Lounge and met up with fantastic staff. Lorenzo, Anita and Jackie welcomed us home in the most incredible way. These folks are never too busy to care for us. They always greet us with warm smiles and great conversation. They really make you feel like family. To the rest of the staff in the Lounge, big thank you! You are all wonderful!

The Inkeeper’s Lounge has food/drink offerings throughout the day that we took full advantage of. We were not disappointed. We ran into some bumpy weather and the staff were quick to assist in rearranging our plans.

The rooms are immaculate, thank you Patsy for your excellent service. Clean sheets on our bed each day and a room that sparkled when you walked in. My husband and I had a king room overlooking the Boardwalk. At night we were able to see the Epcot fireworks from our hotel room. What an absolute delight.

This resort is absolutely charming and a quick walk to DHS and Epcot. The location is perfect for us, Epcot is our favorite resort!

To all the staff at the Boardwalk Inn…Thank you for making my 40th Birthday Celebration a Magical one!!

We've stayed at disney several times but this was our first time at the Boardwalk. The room was nice and the service was fantastic (I found the service really showed you that you were staying at a "deluxe" resort vs some of the other disney categories we stayed at). The location was amazing as far as being able to walk to Epcot and Hollywood studios. It saved us time and made both parks so accessible. The Boardwalk itself was such a wonderful addition to the hotel and our nightly activities as it was fun to stroll into the different shops, carts, and night spots. The negative about this hotel is the bus service to Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, and Downtown Disney. For these spots you share bus service with either 2 or 4 other hotels including the Swan, Dolphin, Beach and Yacht club. We went to Magic Kingdom one night and had to wait for 3 different buses to come before we were able to get on because of all the people waiting to be brought to these hotels. In addition, when you're picked up to go to these parks, you also have to make pickups at these hotels. All in all we very much enjoyed our stay at the Boardwalk and loved the hotel & convenient distance from Epcot and Hollywood Studios but for a family that really likes to get around disney quickly and doesn't want to have to spend extra time on buses the transportation to the hotel is something to think about. In the past, we have stayed at Disney's Coronodo Springs resort and despite not being able to walk to the parks, I think it's probably the one we will return to as the bus service was wonderful, their quick service restaurant was comparable to a sit down, it's less money, and it has a great feel to it.

We are Disney Vacation Club members, and while our home resort is Bay Lake Tower, we decided to stay at Boardwalk because we love that area of Disney. It’s convenient to Epcot and Hollywood Studios, close to many of our favorite restaurants, and has a lovely character about it. I especially like the feeling of being at an old time sea side resort.
As for the hotel itself, I’m giving it 5 stars because we had a wonderful stay and for the most part, service was phenomenal in typical Disney fashion. However, there were flaws. These are minor issues, but I hope my list is helpful to a few of you (especially coffee drinkers).

1. Remote control on the TV didn’t work. I requested a new one from housekeeping and it never showed up. We found another remote in the bedroom that worked on both TVs and (again) it wasn’t a huge deal. However, when housekeeping says they’ll bring something, they should follow through.

2. The villas have coffee pots, but no filters. They do give you a couple of packs of filtered coffee to start off with, but this doesn’t help if you are staying for 5 days. Most people probably know to bring along coffee with whatever other groceries they plan to use in the villa, but unless you’ve stayed there you wouldn’t know you need to also bring a pack of large ROUND filters. Luckily, they do sell them at The Screen Door. My thought is that if you are going to have a coffee maker in the kitchen, you should also keep the equipment for using it.

3. Pillows and blankets for the pull-out sofa. The master bedroom had pillows, but we couldn’t find any extra pillows or blankets for the sofa sleeper. Perhaps they are available by request, but after requesting a new remote control and not getting it, I was tired of bothering housekeeping and just used decorative pillows from the couch to sleep on and gave my daughter the top spread from the bed.

So those are my nitpicks. The convenience to parks and restaurants, beautiful grounds, helpful front desk and bell staff made up for the little issues we encountered, and we’d definitely stay here again.

P.S. If you are staying here, make sure to bring a sweater for the hallways. They are always VERY cold.

Stayed in April 2012 with my 3 kids. We stayed here years ago, and it was always a great experience. When we checked in this time, we felt that this resort catered to Disney Vacation Club members, and not hotel guests like ourselves. Once we got over the check in- everything was fabulous. You cannot beat the location. This was the first year we did not get park hoppers and it was great- we spent the morning at the pool (kids loved the slide) showered and then ate lunch on the Boardwalk (salad at the bakery part of the DDP is great- beats park food) and then spent the afternoon & evening at the parks. It's great to be able to walk to Epcot & Hollywood Studios. Also, the Boardwalk itself is so fun at night, lots to do. Love that there is a little grocery store there as well- they sell 24 pack of waters :)
