“Boardwalk Inn - Would Return”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 July 2014

This was our first trip to WDW and our family of 4 stayed at a base room for 9 nights (July 15 - 24). We decided to stay at one of the Epcot resorts to have the accessibility of walking to Epcot and Hollywood studios which is most definitely why you pay more for these resorts - we could not believe how close they were. FYI if you are searching one of the epcot resorts you will get the same accessibility by staying at Yacht Club, Beach Club, Dolphin, and Swan resorts.

Check in was quick and easy. We requested a room close to the lobby to be centrally located - so we were never too far away from anything. The rooms had queen size beds and were large enough for the amount of time we spent in them. I was a bit disappointed with the amount of storage space, but we made it work. I was also disappointed that the in room mini fridges did not keep our food cold - we had bought a few groceries for breakfast and the milk was not kept cool enough (although we tried adjusting) so it went bad after 4 days. But other than that no complaints about the rooms.

All in all we know that we were paying more for the location of the resort and we would pay that premium again. The rooms could be a bit larger for the price but we really aren't their any amount of time anyhow.

The boardwalk is a great way to end your day - it is so nice to go out and have a drink or ice cream on the boardwalk after a long day. We did wish that it stayed open until midnight however - often we would get back to the resort right before 11 and everything would be closed. But, that is my personal preference.

The pool area is nice - not too large so you always know where your kids are. They also have life jackets free to use and some organized pool activities. There is a waterslide that my kids enjoyed and as an added bonus you can see the Hollywood Studios fireworks from the top stairs of the slide.

If you want a cheap meal (which is sometimes hard to come by in Disney) you can get a large pizza for around $20. They also have a deep fry place serving "boardwalk" fare - corn dogs, hot dogs, fries, burgers - all made fresh when you order them. And the funnel cakes were really good too!

We decided when doing Disney location is key for us. So, we would either stay at one of the epcot or Magic Kingdom resorts realizing you pay more for the convenience.

Room Tip: Select a room close to the lobby or you will have far walks.

On our recent trip to Disney, we stayed at the Boardwalk Inn, and while it is a nice hotel, we would not stay there again.

On the positive side, the rooms in the Boardwalk are a little larger than in some other hotels, with room enough for a couch, and the room also had a double sink, which was nice. The pool was very nice, and it features a good water slide and a full-service poolside bar. The pool was one of our favorite parts of the hotel. The Boardwalk is within walking distance of Epcot, and, though it is a longer walk, near Planet Hollywood as well. If you don't want to walk, there is boat service to both parks. The boardwalk itself comes alive at night, with street performers doing short shows through the evening. As with all Disney hotels, the staff were excellent--helpful and ready to answer questions.

On the negative side, while the rooms are bigger, we did not feel they were so large as to justify the extra cost as compared to the Wilderness Lodge (where we had stayed on a previous trip). Also, our room was in a yet-to-be-renovated wing of the hotel, and it definitely showed, with stains in the carpet, a cracked sink, and the bathroom showing wear. While close to Epcot and Hollywood Studios, those walks are less of an advantage when heading home for the day and you've already walked 6 or 7 miles. Also, the only way to get to the Magic Kingdom is by bus, and that ride could take as much as 25 minutes. While the boardwalk had some entertainment, we did not find it as energetic as the hotel website led us to believe, and we did not spend as much time there as we had thought. The hotel also has a pretty understated lobby--it is nothing like the grand scale one finds in the Wilderness Lodge or the Grand Floridian. The boardwalk has a number of restaurants, but the dining options in the Boardwalk Inn itself are limited, and it does not have a drink station for the refillable mugs; that is located around the corner from the hotel in the Boardwalk Bakery.

In the end, the Boardwalk Inn, while nice, did not measure up to Disney hotels from previous trips, especially with its higher cost. For us, it just wasn't worth it.

Just back from a weekend stay at the Boardwalk Inn. We were three women -- all WDW veterans -- but traveling with no kids this visit. We love the Boardwalk location with its short walk to Epcot and easy access to Hollywood Studios. We only visited those two parks this trip, so the Boardwalk Inn was a great hotel option.

The property, overall, is beautiful with elegant furnishings, a grand but welcoming lobby, pretty waterfront setting and typical Disney attention to detail. For example, in addition to main lobby, there were more intimate seating areas tucked away on each floor each with unique furnishing in keeping with the seaside resort theme.

The room itself was lovely. The layout in our standard room worked well for three adults, with two queen beds, plus a "day bed" which is a clever sofa that flips into a twin size bed. We could also see how well this would work for families. The room was large, with a nice size balcony. The view was nothing much. We were on an upper floor, which was nice, but we looked out the main entrance and motor court. The surprise bonus was a fabulous view of the Hollywood Studios Frozen Fireworks show each night.

Great service -- as always, Disney goes the extra mile. We were greeted at the door and escorted to the correct check in line. Our host stayed with us until our turn in line to make sure we were well taken care of. Standard check in is at 4pm, so we were delighted that a room was ready for us when we arrived at 11am. Throughout our stay, housekeeping staff, bartenders, front desk clerks and management greeted us with a smile, took time to chat and answer our questions, and gave us helpful tips to make the most of our stay. When we found ourselves short of towels a 11pm one night, housekeeping delivered extras within about 10 minutes. Our in-room coffee maker was being a bit temperamental (probably user error), and was quickly replaced.

We spent most of our time in the parks, so didn't take too much advantage of the hotel amenities. We did spend a lovely afternoon at the main pool and found it very clean, with plenty of lounge chairs and towels, along with friendly service at the bar :-)

Even with a great stay, there were a few things that weren't so stellar. We rented a car this time, and self-parking is very far from the lobby. The walk could seem very long after a trek from the room to the lobby. Valet parking is available, but at $20 per day, we allocated that money for other things. Dining options, especially for breakfast, are limited. We ended up at Kouzzina for a delicious breakfast, but the wait was long to get a table even at 10:30am. We never made it to the Belle Vue lounge. It's quite small especially for a hotel the size and scale of the Boardwalk Inn. We found it crowded at breakfast as well as in the evenings during our stay, so we never ventured in.

Overall, a wonderful stay. The Boardwalk remains one of our favorite Disney resorts.

Room Tip: Opt for a higher floor. With or without a Boardwalk view, they are quieter.

Disclaimer: I love Disney! I love the EPCOT Resort area. All of the hotels around the lake between Hollywood Studios and EPCOT are terrific places to stay while visiting Disneyworld. You can walk to either park. You can use all the restaurants at any of the hotels or on the boardwalk. Using a multi-park ticket you can go through EPCOT and get on the monorail to the transportation center to get to the Magic Kingdom or restaurants at other Disney resorts. Of couse there is no need to go anywhere. The Belle Vue Lounge is a great place to go for pastries and coffee in the morning or drinks in the evening and you have all of the places on the boardwalk. The Boardwalk also offers free nightly entertainment on the boardwalk.

We arrived in May 2014 and greeted immediately off the Disney bus. We were selected for a surprise upgrade to a two bedroom suite on the concierge floor. All I can say is we loved every minute - rooms were clean and following our stay our floor was closed for remodeling. The staff helped with every little request. The concierge floor is a great experience. In the morning the lounge had breakfast everyday and they had a huge cooler to fill your water jugs for a day in the park. After afternoon naps, we had as much wine/beer as we want with evening snacks (apps from a cheese plate to steak kabobs) before heading out for fireworks. In addition, checkout and check-in/baggage for airlines was all done in the lounge and no waiting on long lines at the front desk. We just left our room and got on the bus then the plane and our bags were waiting for us at our destination. I love the concierge floor.

Location is great! Amazing restaurants and nightclubs on site. Fast ferry ride to Epcot and Hollywood Studios! Magic Kingdom was a long trip on the bus. I would think about that if that is the main focus of your trip. Our family mostly went to Epcot and Hollywood Studios on our stay so Boardwalk was a lovely location for us.

I have been to many Disney resorts: All-Sport,Saratoga Springs, Fort Wilderness, and Coronado Springs and this is by far my favorite!

I've stayed at this hotel before and love that you can walk all the way around the boardwalk or pedal by renting one of their surries (possibly spelled wrong!) which is what we did this time and LOVED it. We would be trying to get as much momentum as possible to get up the hills then half way up were laughing so hard we almost couldn't make it to the top!! Sooo much fun. We also walked from our hotel to Epcot which is such a peaceful and pretty walk. Our room was quite a way from the front desk but we took advantage of the walking because we were eating the great meals that we love at Disney. Staff is extremely friendly and helpful, hotel is beautiful (although I believe one of the properties that has not been renovated in a while but this really adds to the "old time" charm). All in all a wonderful stay.

Room Tip: I give the hotel a "quiet" rating because it is for the most part. You always in most hot...

This is the second time we have stayed at this hotel. The hotel is very close to Epcot and an easy 10-15 minute walk along the river. A person can take the boat to Epcot or Hollywood Studios. Disney bus transportation is complimentary and it is such a treat to not have to pick up luggage at the airport. Put on the Boardwalk luggage tags and they will be delivered within 3 hours to a person's room. The two queen size beds plus a day bed were comfortable. We appreciated the coffee maker, mini fridge as well. There is a balcony but if it rains, the balcony is usually wet. The staff at the hotel are very helpful and friendly. We did not use the pool since we were at the parks all the time. I know the hotel was busy but we really didn't hear our neighbors at all. The hotel is a bit more expensive than average but we thought it was worth the added expense.
