“Great Disney hotel with Chris the Concierge!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 October 2013

As repeat visitors to Disney and travelers in general, let me say first that we see and rate Disney property Deluxe hotels differently than, say, we do the Ritz, Seasons, etc. Disney hotels handle an unbelievable number of people, many of them families with children. For this reason alone, they have quite a challenge in maintaining the hallways and rooms. Because we have a 6-year-old and a 2-year-old, we are sympathetic and tend to look past scratches on the furniture, imperfect carpet, etc. None of the Deluxe hotels at Disney are true five-star hotels. You are paying in large part for the proximity to the parks, with the MK being seen as the most desirable, and the Disney "factor". But that's fine with us. We got over it a long time ago and still believe that staying on property at a Disney resort is part of the quintessential experience.

All that said, we agree that the halls and rooms at the Beach Club could use some improvement, but we enjoyed our stay (the second there for us) in early October. The feel is comparable to the Grand Floridian and in our opinion is a better value for most families, given the proximity to two parks and the outstanding pool (which is the best at any hotel we've ever been to).

Kudos to Chris at the Concierge desk. On our last day, we took the boat back from Hollywood Studios to the hotel with only minutes to spare before our Magic Express bus was leaving. I realized that I'd left a bag of merchandise on the boat. Chris called transportation and within minutes verified that the bag was found. He offered to run down to Epcot to retrieve it for me himself. We had to board the bus right then, so Chris said he would send it directly to our home at their expense. Four days later, the package arrived. Truly magical (and money-saving). Thank you, Chris!

We stayed at the Beach club resort in the middle of September. The resort was amazing! We have stayed at other Disney resorts but this was the best one by far. It was a beautiful 4 minute walk to Epcot, the pool area felt like a water park, and the service was on point. We cannot wait to go back in a few years and maybe try club level!!

We just returned from our vacation. We had been planning this trip for a year and researched every hotel and decided on Beach Club for many reasons. Since this was our first trip to disney we wanted convenience above all else. We couldn't be more satisfied with all aspects of this hotel. I could care less about the carpet not being perfect or paint chips as you are rarely in your room anyway. The hotel has superior staff and concierge was my savor in helping us plan our days and where to go. When we arrived at the hotel a member was right there and escorted us to check in which was flawless. We were on a quick service dining plan so could eat at Beach marketplace, Hurricane Hanna's and beaches and cream. Beach marketplace is like a mini grocery store with all kinds of snacks and drinks if you want to stock your fridge in the room. The food for dining breakfast, lunch and dinner was not good so we tried Hurricane Hanna's by the pool and food was much better with burgers, chicken sandwiches and cute kids meals served in a sand pail. We ate there quite often. Beaches and cream is an old fashioned soda shop with sit down service only for food but you can walk in and get ice cream and use as a snack on your plan. The hotel also has Cape May Cafe that has character dining for breakfast and seafood buffet for dinner which is not part of quick service. We ate there for character breakfast and dinner and food was good but you need to book in advance to eat here normally. I didn't reserve ahead of time but went to concierge to ask if they could get me in and they did for both breakfast and dinner. We had a great room with large balcony but very far away from elevators with a view of rooftop overlooking the pool. Epcot is a 10 minute walk to the back entrance and Hollywood Studios is a 15 minute ferry ride. All the other parks are a bus ride but we didn't wait more than 10 minutes for a bus and only one stop before the park. I saved the best for last, the pools which are wonderful. There are several pool areas with different depths for all ages, a whirlpool, hot tubs, waterfalls and a large slide. The pool is only for beach and yacht club guests so not crowded and lifeguards are very attentive. If we do travel to disney again we will be staying at the Beach Club.

Room Tip: If you don't want to walk far to the elevator request a room close to elevators

We read all the reviews of this particular hotel prior to making our reservations. We read mostly good reviews, but also 2 or 3 specific poor reviews. I believed then, that the poor reviews were written by someone who just was too picky. I wished we had heeded their warnings.
Firstly, let me share the positives. The hotel is located on beautiful grounds, walking distance to Epcot. The front desk, and concierge are very friendly and do the best that they can with what they have to work with.
In that being said, although the lobby is wonderful, the floors and hotel rooms are in poor condition. Those of you who gave high reviews need to think back to what I am about to share. The carpets in the halls are unbelievably old and worn. In fact, the theme of the carpets is from the movie The Little Mermaid. That movie was made in the late 80's. There are stains on the carpets everywhere and appear they are seldomly vacuumed. Literally, there was a red M&M on the hallway floor everyday of our stay. We jokingly thought if writing on a paper "M&M on floor Day 3" with an arrow pointing to it. The paintings in the hallway were warped, indicating that they were just old prints.
Now to the hotel room. Our carpet was new, but we found that they hadn't been vacuumed very well. I found a Frito in the corner of the room. The furniture showed its age. Multiple stains and scratches in the surface of the stained wood. The bathroom was so small, the door just cleared the toilet when opening. The wallpaper in the bathroom was warped. There was damage and missing wood to the bathroom door.
Housekeeping didn't even come to our room one day to clean or bring fresh towels. We called down to the front desk after dinner to ask if they would send someone to remedy this issue. We then left to go to the park. When we returned late that evening, the room was left exactly as is, and still no towels.
I am not trying to be " that kind of customer", but when the name "Disney" is attached to a resort and you are paying $500.00 a night, you expect to be in an up to date, clean resort. I am very disappointed in this hotel.
There is a hotel called the Waldorf Astoria near the Disney resorts that asks for less a night and is immaculate. They will be getting our business in the future. We also walked to the Dolphin hotel and found it to be beautiful. The name Disney is being trashed with the Beach Club resort and they don't care, as we are not the first to complain about the condition of their facility.

Room Tip: Stay somewhere else.

This is our second stay here. When we drove into parking they looked up our reservation, had us a parking pass and welcomed us. When we walked into the main building we were greeted by name and they guided us to the front desk. This little touch was amazingly personal. We were given magic bracelets that work as your room key as well as you can charge anything to anything on the Disney property. We were given a room on the ground floor so pretty close to the front desk. It is a large complex so you may get a room far so could be a lot of walking so be warned. We never bought anything at the gift/market shop prices too high. Also the on site restaurant was popular but we never used it.
The room was very clean and comfortable. It had a clock radio, wide screen tv and a small refrigerator. The beds were comfortable. The cleaning staff often made up towel animals which were cute.
The pool area is a dream. They share the pool with the Yacht club. Its multi pools, giant water slide which you climb into a ship wrecked boat to start. In the day they had some activities for kids. This pool also has a beach are in the pool area. I don't know how they deal with all the sand in the pool. I spent many hours at the pool. They had servers come by for drinks and food so wonderful service.
The beach club overlooks a lake in which a bunch of the resorts are connected to. The beach club is an easy walk to Epcot. There is a boat you can catch to the other parks or resorts for those people that cannot walk.
Across the lake is the boardwalk which has entertainment and restaurants.
Highly recommended but pricy.

Of course I love Disney, I'm a Disney freak! The Beach Club resort, regardless of my preconceived notions, is fantastic. As all Disney properties, it is very clean and very well maintained. Sure, you pay for it as it is not cheap, but hey, it's a vacation, I'm not sweating the cost. From the time you check in until the time you check out, you are treated extremely well by every employee you meet. They want you to be happy so you'll come back, an idea lost on many other hotels. The pool area, Stormalong Bay, is one of the best. No need to even hit the waterparks. Cape May Cafe is a very good restaurant and Beaches & Cream soda shop is great. Loved Beach Club, will definitely go back.

Room Tip: If you stay at the far end of the property, I was in room 2532, you're maybe 300ft from EPCOT.

This is the second time I have stayed at the beach club but this time I stayed on the Club floor. Wow. As we check in we get ushered to the 5th floor where there is a private check in. Service was excellent. The lounge on the club floor was also above expectations. Good breakfast, snacks and wine and beer available. Close to Epcot, Boardwalk and Hollywood studios. Nice beach and pool area. Great place to watch nightly Epcot fireworks
