we have stayed at other disney properties, but this is the best by far.as soon as you walk into the lobby you will know you have made the right decision to stay here.we were upgraded to a waterview room, overlooking the wedding gazebbo, with a view over the lake.disney rooms are very similar but this room was bright and airy.we loved the swimming pools they really are the best in disney.the location is great within walking distance of epcot,we found we spentmore time at epcot and loved it.we have stayed at the grand floridian but i would say this is better

They claimed I did not check out and billed me for three more days.. They arranged my ground transportation back to the airport on the Magical express. It is amazing how much run around I am getting from the billing dept. ... I have never had this kind of trouble from any hotel, let alone one that claims to have the ultimate in customer experience.

The hotel has a wonderful location and was chosen to hold our conference for this very reason. The rooms were clean as was the pool, man-made beach, and the boardwalk.
However, for the "over-the-top" price of each room, I was surprised at the lack of ammenities and the nickel and diming that went on. Extra fees for internet service, extra fees for use of the inner tubes while going down the "Lazy River", no bottle of water provided in the room (a bottle of water could be purchased in the vending machines), beverages that cost as much as a dinner out at home.
Glad I went for the experience but will not be returning.

Just submitted my review of Portofino Bay @ Universal. Crucial to stay on site there in order to enjoy the parks. At Disney, not so much - except for the Dining Plan. That we loved! We took the "Deluxe" option which, if you skip breakfast of lunch, permits you to eat dinner, gratis,(except for the gratuity), at Disney's super-expensive restaurants. We were there for 3 nights, so we ate at the Flying Fish, the Yachtsman, and Jiko. So much food!!! After 3 days there we had to get out - we could not possibly eat anymore! Not sure if you can take the Dining Plan without staying on site.

The lobby was very nice (the Animal Kingdom lodge was way nicer), the room itself was very tired, and in need of an update to justify the price they charge. The bathroom looked like it hadn't been updated, ever. Very convenient 5 minute walk to Epcot and Disney Boardwalk, which is a very pleasant place to hang at night. Chose this particular Disney hotel because of the pool, which is very large, and always had available chairs.

Staff are, without exception, eerily friendly & solicitous, a la Stepford.

I am so glad we chose the Yacht Club over the Beach Club for our stay at Disney. The difference between the two is stark: The Yacht Club was quiet and restful after long days walking at Disney parks. When we visited the Beach Club, it was always bustling and noisy, with lots of families with small children. I don't mind families, however, keep that in mind when looking at the two. The advantage the Beach Club has over the Yacht is that it is about 300 yards closer to Epcot than the Yacht Club, and it has a small grocery store in the Marketplace for the guests that stay in the Villas.

My partner and I stayed here for a 4-day getaway in March, taking advantage of the Florida resident discount Disney offers. In this sense, we saved about 35% on the room rate. The resort is perfectly located in the area by the Swan, Dolphin, Boardwalk, and Beach Club resorts behind the Epcot World Showcase. An added bonus is that resort guests can enter Epcot through the "international gate" entrance located next to the France pavilion.

The resort is framed around an 1880s Martha's Vineyard motif, so the guest is presented with a lot of sailing/upscale beach scene stylings. The guest rooms take this a bit too far (repetitive use of blues, pictures of ships, etc), but the common areas hit better notes. The staff is first-rate, and indicative of Disney service at its finest. Every single person we encountered at the Yacht Club was able to help with any request or question. The first night back we found a welcome gift of a white chocolate mickey mouse statue and four chocolate covered strawberries with artwork on theme, which was a nice touch. The bed was very comfortable, and the numerous pillows all fit the bill. Dual sinks in the bathroom was a plus, but the toilet/bathtub area, which was separated from the sinks by a door, was on the small side. The parking lot was gated with an attendant, who always checked IDs and greeted guests with "Welcome Home" every time we returned from wherever we had driven.

Although some of the hotel could be read as kitschy, if you look just at room accommodations and service, this is quite a nice resort. It's probably not the best option for families with young children or budget travelers, but for adults traveling without kids and mature travelers who want to experience more than the theme parks, this is a pretty good way to go. If returning to Disneyworld, I would probably opt for the Yacht Club again.

The Disney Yacht Club is one of many resorts at the Disney World property. I stayed there three nights for a conference. Prior to arrival, you have the option of checking in on-line in advance, which made the actual check-in so much faster. As a guest of the property, the Magical Express is available to shuttle you to the hotel.

The staff at the Yacht Club was very friendly. The room I had was nice, though the thoroughness of housekeeping was a little suspect. I noticed on my first day an empty water bottle in between the nightstand and the bed. That bottle was there the remainder of my stay. The pillows were thicker foam so it was a bit more on the uncomfortable side. One other nit is that the door/wall along the outer hallways aren't insulated well - I could hear people walking by all the time.

I had lunch at the Captain’s Grille – the roasted turkey sandwich was hearty and delicious.

The biggest issue I have with the Yacht Club, as my other colleagues did as well, was the television station offerings. I’m sure the resort is all about trying to keep you out of your room, but seriously, no standard channels?!?! It seemed like 99% of the stations were variations of Disney World offerings. So be forewarned that at the end of a long day traipsing around in the parks of sitting in conferences, you won’t have the joy of laying around in bed , surfing the channels.
