Disney's Port Orleans Resort - French Quarter

The French quarter hotel offered the basic amenities that we needed for our first trip to Disney World. When we first opened the door into our room on the ground level facing the pool, we were a bit disappointed by the quality of the furnishings, as we expected a little better quality for a Disney property given their reputation. It was more like a nice motel room. It was clean and had the basics including the disney character hand soaps (which my 41/2year old loved). The beds (we got a double room) were comfy and the blackout shades helped to keep the sun out and let us sleep longer after marathon days at the parks. The restaurant was convenient and offered a decent selection. There was a nice playground for the little ones, a hot tub and fairly large swimming pool which we enjoyed. This resort also has boat access to Port. Orleans riverside and downtown Disney which was a nice scenic ride about 15mins long. The service was decent but we're more likely to stay at one of the hotels closer to a magic kingdom like the contemporary or Polynesian resorts on our next trip to Disney. We definitely recommend staying on the Disney property as it was nice not to have to drive but just hop on a bus to go to the various parks and the FastPass service only available to Disney hotel guests was really nice for pre-planning rides and schedules days in advance, especially for the more popular rides. It was a nice and memorable vacation.

Room Tip: If you are bothered by noise, get a room on a higher floor so you don't have to hear the familie...

Disney for us is one of the best places to have a celebration. We came here for our honeymoon when the only park open was Magic Kingdom. We had an amazing time. We had started our honeymoon in New Orleans so it just made sense to stay at Port Orleans. The attention to detail is unbelievable. The garden spaces are beautiful. Loved walking about the resort early in the morning. Loved going to the food court to get morning coffee and beignets then find a pretty spot to enjoy them. The pool area is huge and fun but all the small spaces make it seem less huge. I must say I was very impressed with the life guards at the pool. They were professional and took their job very serious. I would not for one minute worry about my children at this pool. Our room faced on to the waterway in the back of the resort and I loved looking out to it from the large window in our room. The room was immaculate. Came back each evening to a treat from the maid. A towel animal or note. Lots of drawer and closet space. Can not say enough about how wonderful this resort is. It will not disappoint you.

First trip to Disney World we stayed at the Disney Port Orleans resort. Although the decor it's not what I had expected from looking at the pictures it was quite adequate. The Mill turned out to be to be a good place to go get a snack or. Something for breakfast for the next morning to fill up our mugs. All of the staff in the resort, in the shops, and in the restaurant were very helpful.

Stayed 4 nights...loved this hotel! Awesome pool and hot tub. Good food service, clean rooms and handicap accessible. Good customer service, and people were all so nice. River view is beautiful. Close transportation to bus and boats.

Room Tip: Get a room by the river, it's a beautiful view

Amazing first trip to Disney. in August 12. Hotel is lovely spotless and food is good. Especially the pork po boys and the ribs and chicken. Make sure you try the beignets too. The pool and hot tub stay open until 11pm too so you can soak the aches and pains away. Good transport links as you have buses and also the river boats to Downtown Disney.

I Stayed here for the past 3 nights and had a great time. loved the boat to downtown Disney, but because of the construction at dd the boat drops you off at the PI end of dd instead of the shopping end so you have to walk. the rooms aren't anything really big, but they are adequate, and we had nothing to complain about... oh yes forgot we did complain that there was no trash cans in the room only in the bathroom... also has a small fridge and coffee pot, and small microwave would also be nice. I would stay here again, but our preference of the moderates would be the fort wilderness cabins, a lot more room, full kitchen, and more to do at the resort. this pool at this resort was small...

Room Tip: building 3 is the closest to the food court and front of the resort, but building 1 has a parking lo...

We stayed the first week of May 2014. The resort is nice, clean and well maintained. We stayed in building 3 And our room was clean and suited our needs for as much as we were there. This was our first visit to disney and it left a good impression. The magical express and bus service was great. Pool was nice and the food court was decent for quick service. It never seemed very crowded and the kids liked the place. The walls are a little thin and you do hear the toilet flushes.... Luckily our neighbors were quite except for one night. We would stay here again.
