“2 week stay and fell in love!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 June 2014

We stayed here in May for 2 weeks and completely fell in love with it. It's a great size - has a main building with a store, restaurant, bar and reception. It has 5 buildings with rooms, and a big enough swimming pool.
There is a grass area in the centre of the buildings (3 & 4) from what I remember, which plays movies at 9pm everynight. The movies change every night, we definitely enjoyed watching Frozen and Tangled under the stars!!

The rooms were great - properly sized to accommodate the family size.

The rapid refill cups were definitely worth the money - there was a great choice of drinks (dr pepper, coke, lemonade, water, sprite etc) and you could refill it whenever you want.

The food was pretty good (chicken quesadilla and choc chip pancakes with strawberries being our favourites).

Staff were very helpful - especially Toni the man on bell services! Real easy to talk to and did a great Donald Duck impression.

There was shuttle buses from the outside to epcot, magic kingdom etc and a boat ride was available by the pool to downtown disney.

Could not fault this hotel - loved it!

Our stay was great in every way!! The grounds were immaculate and it really had a New Orleans feel to it. Loved the Food Court, the boat to Downtown Disney was a real plus, and the staff was a big help. The rooms were really comfortable and our third floor room in Building Five with a River view was great!!

I did a lot of research to find the right Resort between Value and Premium and we are so glad we chose the French Quarter!! Disregard the low, grumpy reviews, you will Love it Here and we had two teenagers that loved it!!

We stayed for 6 nights and didn't have any problems! We got the resort for $188 a night, which is a pretty good deal for a Disney resort. The rooms and bathrooms are a decent size. We ate at Sassagoula multiple times, they have big portions and food is good for a quick service meal. If you're looking for a Disney Resort that's nice but cost less, this resort is the way to go. It's relaxing and quiet with a lot of trees. We live in a high-rise condo, so it was kind of weird for us to walk out of our room and be outside (not in a building hallway). I usually prefer hotels that are closed in, but this was nice. We enjoyed our stay at French Quarter!

I just returned from a stay at POFQ this past weekend. First let me state that I love all things Disney, and there were definintely pros about staying at PO. The river ferry from the PO resort to Down Town Disney is for now the best way to get to downtown with all of the construction taking up a good bit of parking there. The overall atmosphere of the resort was great and the concierge desk was very helpful in assisting us with linking our Magic bands. The room was quite comfortable for 4 people and the beds were great. I was dissappointed with the Mousekeeping (housekeeping) at POFQ however, since we were told that our room was ready we had assumed that we would not find the underwear of the previous occupant hanging in the shower. There other pieces of trash left in the room as well as stains on the carpet. This was a bit disappointing for Disney property in my opinon.

Room Tip: Third floor room was quite.

We stayed for seven nights at Port Orleans French Quarter at Walt Disney World Resorts. It was a fantastic stay overall! We booked two adjoining rooms as we have a large family and they followed through with the guarantee. Most Hotels/Resorts won't guarantee adjoining rooms. The rooms were always well maintained and kept very clean by daily housekeeping. We accidentally left one of our rooms dead bolted all day which kept housekeeping from servicing our room. When we returned, we found a message asking us to call for service if we still wanted it. The Food Court met our dining needs for a "quick service" meal at breakfast and dinner with a pretty good selection of choices for kids and adults. The pool was a nice bonus too, and the kids loved it. You can take a boat to downtown Disney from the resort or utilize the bus transportation to the parks. Only two small complaints: They play movies on a large projection screen and a loud sound system which is a great thing for families to enjoy. However, our young children go to sleep around 8PM and the movie starts at 9PM. The problem is the noise from the movie if you are in a room surrounding the square where the movie is being played. Overall, I would go there again.

Room Tip: If you or your children go to sleep before 11PM, ask for a room/building away from where they play t...

Wonderful staff and experience. We had a great weeklong stay, the food was decent on site but had many option nearby. As always the Disney attention to detail was great. Lots of evening kids activities.

Room Tip: Riverside views are nice

We stayed at POFQ in May 2014 and were due to stay for 11 nights but ended up only staying for 5. There were a lot of good things about the resort, for example how quiet the rooms are and the quaint Orleans theme that makes it seem like quite a cute place to stay. We had a corner room in building 6 overlooking the river which was tranquil and, I think, the best spot in the resort. The resort is so small that you can walk from one end to the other in about 15 mins but its size had some drawbacks for us which is ultimately why we decided to move to Port Orleans Riverside halfway through our trip.

There is only one pool which means that it is very noisy all day long (the pool entertainment and music is going all day for the kids) and rammed with people. It's not ideal if you're looking for a leisurely swim after a long day in the parks! The food hall is also quite small and has a bit of a weird atmosphere to it, I think because it's the only place to hang out and eat or drink so you get a lot of people sitting in there for hours in their pyjamas. This strange atmosphere was actually noticeable all over the resort, it didn't have a friendly, fun vibe at all.

We also didn't have a great experience with staff members, particularly on arrival and check-in. We arrived at the resort at about 11pm and had, at that point, been travelling for 21 hours straight so were utterly exhausted. The cast member who served us on reception was not friendly at all and had a really bad attitude, not even saying welcome or offering us badges as we were there for our anniversary (which was logged on the system - we checked the next day). When we first approached the desk she even put her finger up to 'shush' us as she was reading something on her computer screen! Not a great start.

We decided to take a walk up to Riverside halfway through the trip and absolutely loved the resort. It had in adundance all the things that were missing from FQ - six pools, some really peaceful, a really friendly atmosphere, great facilities (the bar in particular was great) and lovely cast members. So we decided to move! They made it very easy for us actually and we were able to select our new room at Riverside.

All in all we didn't love FQ, it wasn't a place we looked forward to coming back to every evening and we had a much better experience at Riverside.

Room Tip: Definitely go for a corner room if you can as they're very bright. Our room, 6223, was overlooki...
