Went to the Festival of the Trees (2013) for a second time. (Also went in 2011) The museum itself, is a must see, however, this year I was a little disappointed in this special event for this year. The one I had gone to before had many more trees and it seemed there were more of a variety of trees. This year seemed like the trees were actually the same as in the past with just a few exceptions. I would only suggest for people to definitely go to the museum but not to expect too much for the tree festival.

Great little art museum! Always interesting exhibits, special presentations, and unique First Thursday events every month! Low cost admission and/or membership.

The openess of the museum lent to an wonderful ability to view the art in an uncrowded way. We went mid-afternoon and the visitors were few so the quiet and peacefullness of the place was great. I appreciate the design of the building with rooms having floor to ceiling windows. Deeply touched by an exhibit done by children in various protective care facilities in the area. The art was amazing and their stories remarkably profound. A wonderful afternoon.

This museum is a gem, and the staff is very inviting. They have an eclectic collection of paintings, contemporary, silver, furniture, ceramics, pre-columbian, and African art. You can take your time or get through it in an hour and go visit the Menello folk art museum too! My favorites were an oil and a rare watercolor by Singer Sargent and the Hudson River school paintings. My only regret was that they do not allow photography even without a flash. BTW, if you have small restless kids, take them to the science museum across the courtyard.

I have been to large and small museums all over the world, and I look at each one individually to see what it offers. I have lived in Orlando for more than thirty years, and I would have thought that our Museum of Art would live up to it's name by now ...... but it hasn't! The core collection is pathetic, and the acquisitions committee is useless - except to buy new junk from unknown artists of questionable talent. Let's hope the new director changes the tide. In the meantime, go visit the Morse Museum in Winter Park, which is vastly superior - and well worth your time. Even the Cornell Museum at Rollins College has more to offer than the O.M.A.! When I want "culture" in central Florida - I open a container of yogurt. Shame ........ shame ...............
