Tired of the Peabody's outdated rooms and size of their new tower, we opted for the new HIlton right off International Drive. As we pulled up, although the sign said Hilton, it surely didn't look like one.
The lobby is not only spacious, its cavernous. Check-in was OK but they didn't have the Hilton Honors window open and they didn't put us on a HH floor (had to request bottled water). There are 18 floors, two elevator banks for 9 floors, each with 6 elevators. So you are up and down quickly. The rooms are nice but with a bathtub instead of stall shower. And no balcony. But you quickly lose focus which property you are at when you descend to the lower level.
The spa is beautiful and the lockers rooms are huge. Fresh fruit, steam room and plenty of showers. But why they are closed on Sunday's and only open from 9AM to 7PM is a wonderment. The fitness room is open 24/7 and one of the best hotel fitness rooms ever.
Outside the spa is the pool area. As you walk outside you think you at a Vegas pool. The main pool area is for kids and features a big water slide, waterfalls, lazy river and water games. However, the best part of this Hilton is they have a quiet pool for adults with its own spa. There is also a huge outdoor bar with food available, putting greens, 1/4 mile walking path, pool table and Foosball table.
We ate outdoors at the cafe which is near the spa and overlooking the pool. This place is huge as well. The menu has everything including chopped salads and good sandwiches. There is also a steakhouse and sports bar. At night, the lobby bar opens up and serves $16 martinis which you help subsidize the piano player. But no nuts or salty chips are available.
If you are going to the convention center, you can walk over through a maze of overpass walkways but it will take 25 minutes. The Peabody is better located but that place has become too big to deal with.
There is also a coffee bar with mini-mart, good for families. As a HH member, they have a very nice lounge with continental breakfast (very good, but staff was unfriendly and food was not kept up with) and hot snacks between 5-7PM.
Overall, this HIlton is one of their best and worthy of a stay.
