Our family of three generations spent the Christmas holiday at Waldorf Orlando and enjoyed it very much.

Hotel physical conditions: excellent given that it is only five years old. Both the public spaces and rooms are beautifully furnished and designed. We had an one bedroom suite and a connecting double room for the six of us. It was very spacious. The suite comes with a balcony that was perfect for viewing the Disney fireworks at night.

Location: located on the Disney grounds, the hotel provides free shuttle devices throughout the day to the parks plus Disney downtown. The shuttle bus is comfortable and on time. It drops you off pretty close to the entrance and we thought it was much better than driving ourselves and trying to find parking and taking the team in the parking lot. Search Bonnet Shuttle on Google for latest shuttle timetable.

Amenities: the spa was terrific. It has steam room and jacuzzi in the locker rooms. The facial and deep tissue massage I got were both excellent. As a hotel guest, you get 10% off services, a perk as part of the resort fee charge (which also gets you wifi and two free drinks at the lobby bar). The pool is great, and heated at 82 degrees. There is a kids program where you can drop off the kids. We didn't use that, but did took our kids to the play room. It wasn't big, but they had fun.

Food: buffet breakfast and dinner at their fine dining restaurant Bull and Bear were both good. But dinner at their bistro Oscars and lunch at the lobby bar were only average, with some dishes below average. This is one area the hotel can do better. Luckily, the chances are you won't have too many meals at the resort given how my time you will spend at the parks.

Tips: if you are traveling with a family, go for the the suite. I thought paying less than 50% more than the regular room is well worth it. Also, get the breakfast package. For $40 more, you get buffet breakfast for two adults including all taxes and service charges. Kids under 3 eat free. It makes mornings so much easier. Lastly, you can buy disney tickets in the hotel lobby and the staff is vey knowledgeable.

We really enjoyed the hotel. Everyone was helpful and professional. You will love it.

Worst room service ever, the food preparation its awful. And way too expensive. They have this huge ventilation noise that its impossible to shut down, even if you turn off the AC in the room. Its not worth the money. This hotel is like your average Hilton. Don't stay here. I think the Ritz Carlton its much better.

This is our second visit to the Waldorf Astoria Orlando and unfortunately we are feeling very disappointed after excitedly looking forward to this visit.
Our first visit exactly 2 years ago was exceptional and i vowed any Disney holidays would be spent at this hotel for the future.
On arrival check in was easy and straight forward and the staff were absolutely lovely.
However even though we have a King deluxe room and our booking clearly states 2 adults 1 child aged 5 we had to ask twice for the roll away bed, perhaps because it was christmas eve they were very busy. I felt as if it hadnt been taken into consideration and they expected all 3 of us to sleep in the same bed?
I had asked how my child would be acommodated on the original booking 2 months earlier also whether they could email a christmas menu? Neither question was answered.
Also we remembered about how delighted Isabel was when mother christmas had come to read her a bed time story christmas eve 2 years ago, so my husband rang up 4 days before we arrived to ask about this service to be told nothing like that was planned this year. However after arrival we were perusing the leaflets and information and spotted to our astonishment and annoyance the advertisement of mother christmas!!!
A great rush down to reception secured a booking but im annoyed it was a close thing.
As we speak there is a half eaten banana which has been rotting under a cabinet near the lifts for 5 days now! I mentioned it to a staff member this morning ...... Suprise ! Its still there this evening as we speak.
Room service is pleasant and great options, im pregnant and wanted my steak cooking through and the operator cleverly suggested butterflying the steak and it was perfect.
House keeping is certainly not as good as last time, our first day (christmas day) we were at the pool 12-5 and NO do not disturb sign there until we came in at 5pm but at 5.30 a note was left on door saying they could not service the room because of do not disturb sign???? Was 12-5 not a long enough opportunity?
In 5 days we have only had 1 turn down even though we have been out all evening for 3 nights. Our sheets have not yet been changed despite the notice of them promised to be changed every 3 nights. 2 years ago i found not a single fault and im seeing faults everywhere. A small irritation that my bed valance is massively out of line and looks so untidy, its been like this from day one but im not dragging the bedding about to correct this.
The windows are dirty and i can tell the room hasnt been vacuumed since our arrival. The wardrobes are tiny and there would be a benefit for more drawer space.
Our shower is lovely, always hot water and a lovely spacious power shower. The bath is tiny, you have to stick out your legs to be able to lie back. In our queen room last time there were drawers in the sink unit which has none in this king room and im feeling cluttered. Even though this room is slightly more expensive than our last room a queen, i dont quite understand why, as we had a much better pool view last time and even though i requested this again, really i have a carpark view but can see the pool if i sit right next to the window in the corner of the room. Again disappointing. Only benefit is if you enjoy the fireworks every night you have a great view of them.
Tonight as i write the lady has come to turn down the bed and i am in but i have already noticed she has put a sign on the door as if we werent in or a DND sign was there but isnt!! So cross with this now.
Finally, we decided to check out the kids club as my daughter had a great time in there last time bracelet making and balloon crafts and super exceptional staff!!
First the lady escorting us had no idea where she was going and we ended up walking all around the spa treatment rooms then backtracking until we eventually found it. She was a lovely lady but shouldnt have taken us if she didnt know the layout. Then in the kids room it was lifeless and boring, 2 kids in there left to their own devices but having no obvious attention from the assistant who had clearly just put down her mobile phone as we arrived. We asked what the craft opportunities are and only decorate a paper snowflake or make a wooden plane! Well we can safely say for $75 for 4 hours im not sending her there to be ignored.
We had breakfast twice, there is a fabulous selection of fresh fruit and a fast omlette bar whish is great except im not happy about same spatular being used on fish meat n veggie omlettes.
Also it is expensive at $32 per adult and $ 18 for kids, at 5 she has a tiny appetite and merely nibbles. Also both times at breakfast our table has only been partially set meaning i eat yoghurt with my teaspoon and having to ask for a jug of milk each time.
The shuttle service is always on time and very comfortable with exceptional staff though it does pickup at the Hilton first so if you want a seat it might be best to walk over there to catch it. Sometimes it has even been full and not able to allow any more on.

This is still a fantastic hotel, fabulous decor and luxurious surroundings. The furniture is clean, unchipped and of high standard. The outdoor areas and pools are lovely ( though the hiltons lazy river could do with a leaf drop cleanup) ive also experienced excellent bar service at the hiltons poolbar.

Perhaps i had too good a first impression??

We stayed at the Waldorf for 12 nights from the 11th December. We were a party of 2 adults and 2 children(8 and 2).

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this hotel, we booked a deluxe suite, which is a one bedroom suite with a separate living area. The bedroom consisted of two queen beds and an ensuite bathroom. The room was well decorated and spacious and there was plenty of space for the kids to play.

At the time of arrival we were greeted with the car valet service, which is a nice touch and lead onto the front desk where Devon helped us check in. She was very polite and helpful. There are some really fantastic people working at this hotel and i wanted to mention a few who actually made our stay exemplary.

Everyone was very helpful in the hotel and made our stay very comfortable and accommodating especially when we staying at the hotel for 12 nights.

Sufiyan in Housekeeping provided excellent service and was very helpful in helping us settle in on the first night and make sure the children were all settled.
Ismail in Room service was excellent in providing a great room service facility.
Chris at the front desk on Check out and every morning when we left for the Theme Parks, was exceptional in making sure the customer was all set and happy before their long day at the park or on our journey back to London. Chris actually stood out as an exceptional front desk agent and for customer service. I need to mention Adam as being very professional as well.
The breakfast was served at Oscar's restaurant on the ground floor. There is a basic variety, in comparison to the hotels in Dubai, not very exciting, however we were kept well serviced by Alex Sotto and his team. Diana stood out as one of the better hosts from the others, who actually need to learn a few things in dealing with families with children. I felt as some points they were looking down on us, which was not very nice. We are vegetarians and i wanted more vegetarian options, which is lacking in the breakfast spread. The omlettes were being made in the same pans as the meat omlettes, the meat was being fried in the pan and then the egg mixture was being added, and hence the meat oil was still remaining in the pan if you ordered a vegetarian omlette.

I did have a problem with requests for ice or certain items which did not arrive in the room, i spoke to a lady called Brenda, who for forgot to deliver ice and my room service to my room. Unacceptable.

The only other thing, is the resort fee of $25 per night plus tax, i believe this should only apply to people who use the resort, we did not use the resort and hence i believe this is unfair for us to pay on top of the $24 plus tax for the valet parking service.

Other than that, it is an exceptional hotel but please be aware that there is an approximate cost of $50 per night for the resort fee and car park valet.

Wifi is included and there is good service. Excellent and double plus points for that ++++

If you and your family love Disney, but want a little break from the crowds and the Disney properties this is your place. My family and I discovered the Waldorf a couple of years ago and love the convenience as well as the subdued elegance that Disney just can't offer. The Waldorf Orlando is a true luxury property just minutes from Walt Disney World. They offer private buses to and from the parks, as well as shuttle services to their sister Hilton resort down the street. We feared that staying off property would somehow lessen the Disney experience...This was not the case. Still plenty of "magic" just in a more tranquil setting. The property is highlighted by a beautiful pool and nice golf course, another, more kid friendly pool is yours to use at the Hilton. Service is excellent...Doorman know your names, and staff is their to help make your stay a pleasant one. I left a nice pair of shoes in the suite after checkout...called the property 2 days after our departure and not only did they find my shoes, but they had already sent them to my home free of charge. Quality resort/hotel run by quality people. In short a great way to experience all that Orlando has to offer without feeling like one of the herd.

We decided to visit friends in Orlando and stay here. We took the Super Shuttle to the hotel; however, if we were to visit Orlando again, we would have hired a town car - it would have been quicker and was only $20 more expensive. Even though the hotel is far from most "shopping" amenities, it was worth it. The bus to the Disney parks was convenient. It cost $51 to Universal Studios by town car and $41 back by taxi. There were not a lot of children at the hotel which was an added benefit as well. The fitness area was clean and there were plenty of treadmills and weights and LifeCycle machines. Water and towels were generously placed throughout the center.

I, especially, want to commend JESSICA who was very helpful upon arrival, provided us with a couple drink and dessert certificates for our 30th anniversary, and showed us to the elevator; CHRIS who kindly provided the toiletries we disposed of at TSA gate check in, SHANNON who assisted us in purchasing out tickets to the parks and, KYLE who enthusiastically welcomed us to Oscar's Restaurant, a casual dining experience on the lower level. KYLE was not only gracious and welcoming to us, he introduced himself to all the guests dining with him. DEVON also provided exceptional assistance and answered many of our questions.

So, all in all it was a good stay. I am not certain it was worth the investment; however, it was Christmas and our anniversary.

Room Tip: Most of the rooms that face Disney World enjoy a 930pm fire works show every night.

The title might imply a negative cognation but that is not what I mean. The fact is simply that the Waldorf Orlando and the original Waldorf in New York just aren’t made from the same breed - the Waldorf in New York has a rich history whereas the Orlando version is brand new. We (family of four with little kids) spent the week before Christmas at the Waldorf, here’s my review:

Interior:

The interior is very upscale and it feels like you’re in a special - although fairly small - place. The lobby with its clock-tower is nicely done and so is the peacock alley (lobby bar/lounge) area. We had a standard two bed room which was nicely equipped with a Nespresso machine (it’s almost ironic that the coffee maker in our room makes better coffee than the freshly brewed coffee we could get in the restaurants)

Pool:

The pool is nice, very nice in fact. It’s great for kids since it’s very shallow at the beginning and becomes deeper as you venture into it. Both our kids enjoyed it very much and were able to play at their own ‘depth’ levels. Also recommendable is the pool restaurant/bar (aquamarine). The entrees are nice and not over the top in terms of price.

Restaurants:

Oscar’s breakfast buffet had several challenges: weak, watery coffee (this might be a Florida thing), food quality was just ok (Orange juice was Tropicana etc.). The bagels are not bagels! Let me repeat that: if you’re from New York and in desperate need for a bagel, you’ll get disappointed. Otherwise, the service was very nice and attentive but it didn’t justify the high price per person ($32 adults and $18 kids).

On the other hand, Oscar’s had a really nice Christmas-eve buffet that was excellent in terms of food quality (very tasty) and choice. Adults were charged $59 and the kids were free!!! So our expectations for the dinner buffer were exceeded. If only the breakfast buffet was that good.

The Peacock alley (aka. the lobby bar/lounge) is nice but severely limited and confusing. On our arrival day, we had a typical bar menu but then a couple of days later the menu changed, supposedly because they didn’t want to ‘compete’ with Oscar’s. Also, there is a morning ‘grab & go’ where you can get croissants and ‘fake’ bagels for $3. Again, the coffee is pretty bad.

Unfortunately, the Aquamarine (see above under pool) which we liked a lot, closes early, so there’s not really a nice outdoorsy restaurant after 7 PM. In fact, the only option we had after 7 PM was Oscar’s or the far more upscale Bull & Bear. We ended up dining at the adjourning Hilton quite often.

Concierge/Check-in/Room service:

We were able to buy Disney tickets at the concierge but it was a $10 surcharge. Still, better than waiting in line. But I also felt that there could have been a bit more information instead of just trying to relentlessly upselling us to the multitude of ticket combinations. This might not be the hotel’s fault since I’m pretty sure this was an Expedia desk (but there’s no logo or anything that would tell you that).

At the check-in we had somewhat of a surprise since apparently the notes that I’ve added to the reservation were not in their system nor were the notes that I’ve confirmed via phone call 3 month earlier (in September). In other words, we had to get new rooms because of that. This may have triggered some sort of conflict in their system because after we went to our room, another family was able to enter our room with their keys — they had the same keys. That never happened to me ever and the hotel wasn’t really aware of this situation even after I explained it to them. This left me with this nagging feeling that somehow there’s a shadow entry in our booking that belongs to the other family. On another instance, we had housekeeping asking us if we did late checkout because we were on the check-out list. But we did in fact not check-out until the following day.

Other thoughts:

The hotel also offers a couple of complimentary things that are worth mentioning: free wifi (this wasn’t advertised and came as a surprise), daily cider (I guess only around the Christmas season), free coffee in the morning, shuttle bus to all disney attractions, use of the amenities from the adjourning Hilton hotel which also includes the lazy river pool - there’s even a service by which you can go between hotels via golf kart.

In summary:

We enjoyed our stay, overall it’s a nice hotel. The restaurant options are somewhat limited and the breakfast buffet just didn’t meet our expectations. Would I stay again? I might. However, with family, I suspect there might be better options.
