“Another good stay”
Reviewed 21 August 2014 via mobile

Just returned from the Waldorf. This is my fourth visit this year. Can't say enough about the staff especially at the front desk and pool. Very calm atmosphere doesn't have that frenetic Disney vibe although it's close to all the parks. My only complaint is about the valet parking.I have no problem paying to park but it shouldn't take 20 or more minutes to get your car and it helps if they bring the right car!
Getting in and out of there is a cluster and the only disappointment in our stay.
Room was great as was the service. Let's just figure out a better way to run the valet parking.

This is a lovely, amazingly comfortable hotel; the beds were the most restful of our holiday. The pool is beautiful, there are always plenty of free beds and the food was delicious at the beach bar. We wanted a luxurious break after New York and New Orleans and the hotel was a perfect choice in that respect. The shuttle to Disney worked well when my husband and son took the car to Kennedy Space Centre.
Unfortunately, I was shocked by the service - in general polite, but totally sterile at best. At worst rude and unhelpful. Examples: On arrival, with everyone desperate to use the pool, we waited 2 hours for our luggage to be brought to the room, 2 calls later and, with promises to bring it up not met, we went downstairs and got our luggage ourselves. Apparently they had not been given any messages. When I mentioned this at the desk, I was told it's nothing to do with us, that's the bellhop. I would have expected a blanket apology - so easy, but not offered. Breakfast was a disaster - very rude person in charge of seating - no smiles there and everything made especially difficult when we wanted a quick breakfast. These are just a couple of examples of what is endemic in the hotel. The Hilton is actually attached to the Waldorf and the extremes in service were polar opposites. The reason I can only give 3 stars is because you can have such a better and cheaper experience at the Hilton. The food options and service at the Hilton win it for me hands down....and then walk along to the Waldorf and use the shared pool facilities. One other moan is the prices charged for tickets by the concierge - the tickets for Disney and the Blue Man Show are sold with substantial uplift. There is no advertising that you are actually buying through Expedia. I was told " we have Blue Man tickets and these are actually at a discount - they are only $80" Well, they're for sale on the Universal website at $60 - we had great seats as well. Surely there should be a sign saying you are paying Expedia prices?

Waldorf astoria is a very good hotel which meets the expectations of the name. Spacious and clean rooms against reasonable rates. The breakfast buffet is almost perfect (apart from a lack of orange juice). For food bulll & bear restaurant is good food but overpriced. Good wines however. Perfect service in the entire hotel

Room Tip: If available take a suite. For food is hilton a good alternativr

I love this property! The staff was open and friendly, helpful and intuitive. I had a lovely view of the fireworks in all three venues at WDW. Even tho the weather was a huge drawback (August in Florida - makes a sauna seem cool!) Everyone was energetic and spontaneous from the valets to the pool cadre. Love is in the details....iced water in the lobby, signature chocolates on the perfect pillows....and friendly staff in Peacock Alley. As I said 'all good except'...

If you didn't bring a car it is really hard to go "off property" for things: a bandaid, a single safety pin or a six pack of water. Not a lot of help from housekeeping or the sundries shop in the lobby.
( asked for the lighted mirror to be replaced 3 times on three days - never happened and the question I got from HK was "did you turn it on?) Duh!

Lastly - the breakfast buffet at Oscar's was great but the total confusion at the reservation stand was unnecessary for a place of this quality. Since most people were on there way to the parks it was the only place to get a good start on the day but it was more of a stutter.

All in all - a fabulous time had by all and of course I will be back!!!!!

Room Tip: Upper floors with Disney view is well worth a small upgrade. (Pool view is an added bonus)

Our double queen bed room was large. Bathrooms beautifully appointed with Salvatore Ferragamo products. Beds were very comfortable and clean. The Disney view from our room was spectacular. The staff throughout the hotel couldn't have been friendlier. Lunch at Aquamarina was good and I recommend the Edemame Hummus with warm pita bread. Great service at all times. The negatives: room carpet was a bit stained, bathtub had a hair and the back of the bathroom door was dirty. The room could use a fan to circulate the A/C better, as room was very warm. Nespresso machine in room was not working properly. All of that said, I will certainly return to the WA. Great Place to stay while in Orlando

This was better than the other Waldorf properties that I have stayed at. The service was great at the desk and in the lobby bar. I also walked over to the Italian restaurant at the Hilton which was great. The golf course is nice - range balls included with hotel cost. Course rates were reasonable. The only con is the length of time it takes to get your car from valet. Seems like they put the parking too far away.

I know..I know....I have reviewed this hotel more than any other. There's a reason for that....we stay there more than any other Hotel. We are in the Travel business, and really appreciate great service, especially when we are not working

Once again we were greeted by Orlando in Valet. (The person not the city). He and Steve took great care of both us, and our car. They even sent Chocolate covered strawberries for my wife's (Kerri) Birthday! Well done!

It was great seeing Bridgette again at the front desk. She is one of the main reasons we keep coming back !
A quick check in, and on to our room. Actually the 1 bedroom suite we have grown to love. Check out the pic below!

For Kerri's birthday, we had a great dinner at La Luce at the Hilton next door, a short air conditioned walk away. Whatever you get, you HAVE to try the meatballs !

Hang out with Rich at Aquamarine and try the flatbread!

I can't even tell you how many clients we have recommended this to, but it's a lot LOL

If there was ever a hotel where we would love to live, this is it. Free buses to the Disney parks and being in the heart of Disney is a bonus.

Don't ever think twice about staying here if you have never been. You won't regret it ! That's my professional opinion :-)

And yes...I will write another review next time we stay there LOL

Rob

Room Tip: Always ask for a suite with a balcony. You never know...they might just upgrade you! If you li...
