We stayed here for 5 nights as part of a Disney split stay. We're not DVC members so did plenty of research beforehand as to the best buildings available and requested building 18, which we got.
As there are only two of us, we opted for a studio, which was very spacious compared to other Disney properties we've stayed in. The room was a little tired, the AC unit was very noisy and impossible to use at night. Fortunately the studio had a small balcony, and the french doors were great to let in the breeze. There was a small kitchenette, with fridge, microwave and coffee maker which is perfect for us as we just need somewhere to prepare a quick breakfast. Overall, I would say the room was due a rehab, but nevertheless it was still very clean and comfortable.
The resort is very relaxing but it's very big. We were close to the Miller's Road bus stop which is the last pick up before hospitality house, it's also only 5 minutes to walk from HH. I'm not sure I would have been so complimentary about the resort if we hadn't been so close, one night we stayed on the bus and really saw how massive the resort was and how far away some of the buildings are from the main building and pool.
Disney bus service was great, and it's nice to catch the boat to Downtown Disney too. We've stayed in a few other Disney resorts and found this one to be one of our favourites - definitely going back again soon!

Our first visit to Disneyland as a family, we arrived late afternoon at Orlando airport and got our hire car without issue - if you are flying Virgin, make use of the pre book system for you car in the VLounge U.K. side, it will save you a lot of time and one of the Virgin Staff will talk to though it if you get stuck.

We had asked for a Sat Nav and entered the zip code (post code) which unfortunately took us somewhere completely different - you have to put the road name in, not like the U.K. A stressful hour from airport to resort, however when we arrived at the barrier we were greeted by the guard and a friendly "Welcome home", the greeting you receive every time you get back to the resort which really doesn't get boring.

The reception area was very efficient and friendly and the receptionist made the kids feel really welcome (checkout the balloon animals that they give the kids). She did say we could walk to our apartment in Turtle Bay from the hotel and as we didn't realise there was parking at our apartment we were set to leave the car at the main resort and take a stroll. Fortunately one of the porters gave us a lift there (and back to collect the car) which saved a 10-15 minute walk with heavy luggage.

Our apartment was a one bedroom villa with two fold down beds for our 9 and 11 year olds which were ideal. The master bedroom was large and the jacuzzi bathroom and shower room were great. The laundry room in the villa with washer and drier was invaluable. The balcony overlooked a lake inlet which gave us a brilliant frog and cicada concert every night, especially loud after any rain and a nice place to sit with a coffee in the morning. The cleaner was very good and deserved the $50 tip we left.

The resort had a communal pool a 1 minute walk away with ample free towels and sun loungers - the kids would have been quite happy to stay there every day and we normally went for a swim when we returned from the parks, even at 9pm (pool closed at 11am). There was a snack bar at the pool which served drinks, burgers, pizzas etc which were included on the Disney dining plan.

For breakfast we normally at at Olivia's in the main resort - service was fantastic and great food. To get to the parks we drove to main reception and caught one of the very frequent shuttle buses - very efficient. To get to non Disney parks we drove but you could book taxis from reception.

Evening meals were normally at Downtown Disney, a boat ride away from main reception or a shuttle bus or short drive. Dining plan was accepted at all the restaurants we ate in, some charge double on the plan so make sure you check. The main additional cost was the tip, approx 18% of your total bill needs to be added as a tip and this mounts up quickly so be prepared. Service was normally good. Our plan included main and pudding but you can get starter also for additional dining plan cost.

The plan also included snacks and lunch and we ended up not spending ll our snacks so the plan is good value.

The resort was incredibly clean and well staffed with great facilities - most nights there was an open air cinema which was great and you could hear the nightly Epcot fireworks from the balcony.
Overall we couldn't have asked for a better introduction to Disneyland. Easy to see why people get hooked. We will definitely be back....

We stay in Old Key West each year in a 2 bed villa.

It can accommodate 9 people (4 in bed one, 2 in bed 2 and 3 n the lounge). For comfort only 6 of us stay each year so that the lounge can be used as one.

Bedroom one is big with 2 queen beds, 2 wardrobes and 1.5 bathroom. This room is perfect for Mum and Dad plus 2 smaller children. The other suite has a large king bed, jacuzzi tub plus huge shower.

The lounge is an excellent size with full amenities, and if you have smaller children it allows you to put them to bed and stay up taking, playing cards without disturbing them.

This villa also has its own laundry which helps save time on holiday and home, by putting washing on whole at the theme parks.

Service to the parks is fantastic with Disney transportation.

Our only criticism would be the Disney check in system, it is the worst piece of software ever created. It took us 30 minutes t check in when it should have been 3!

Always ask for a view of the golf course, it is very relaxing to wake up and watch the course and players (and have the odd laugh at some very bad play).

Room Tip: Choose a room overlooking the golf course, try and get in block 64 if you at to be near the main pool. Or 54 if you want to be near a small pool with the ability to walk to Saratogo Springs and downtown Disney

First time at this location, have stayed at Port Orleans French Quarter previously......the rooms in this vacation club are slightly larger but no 'animal towel' shapes left for kids !! the resort is very large and if possible it would be nice to be closer to the Hospitality house and the main pool especially if you don't like to walk!

It was my daughters birthday while we were away and I wanted to organise for balloons to be put in the room for when we returned from the parks and I was quite willing to pay for this - I was told at reception that they would organise it and it was FREE!! yeah ....unfortunately we were left disappointed as the balloons didn't materialise ......did mention it and they said they would sort it but it just never happened...so a bit annoyed at that!

however .....the rooms were like I said ....quite large, and very clean....maid service every day.

even though we were a 10 min walk from the main pool there was a pool near to us - we were at turtle pond.... and I do think there is a bus stop at regular points....we didn't have to wait long for a bus at all .....Disney transportation is excellent...and no probs what so ever..all the drivers are very helpful.

all in all a very lovely stay..

We have just come back from a Mickeytastic 2 and a bit week holiday staying in Old Key West. We got an amazing deal by booking early and booked a 2 bedroom villa (actually an apartment) to share between the 6 of us.

The rooms themselves were amazing with a spacious master bedroom with TV/DVD player and bathroom complete with 2 person jacuzzi bath which the crumblies (grandparents) had, a second bedroom with two UK king-sized beds, sink and vanity area and bathroom with both bath and shower. The major bonus for us was the living area which was a huge lounge/dining/kitchen giving us all plenty of space to read (especially at odd hours of the day/night due to jet lag), watch TV/DVDs, eat food, do colourings and whatever else we wanted to do. On top of that the washing machine and dryer were in the utility room giving us the ability to set some washing going before we set out for the day and come back to it as and when, meaning we could pack fewer clothes with no extra hassle.

The rooms were very clean and well-maintained and the staff were really helpful and friendly which really makes life easier. Actually I should say more about the staff because I found them very good even when I had to fedex my broken camera to get it fixed which was very complicated and they kept going until we had it sorted! The crockery and cutlery there meant it was also easy to just buy cereal and milk and eat breakfast in the room before leaving, leaving our Quick Service (QS) and Table Service (TS) meals for the rest of the day.

The huge downside for this location compared to previous stays at Port Orleans was that the bus service was so unrealiable. Twice we waited over an hour for a bus and it was not unusual for it to be 30-40 minutes rather then the 20 minutes max we have been used to before at PO. This meant we missed those vital magic hour minutes and had to leave for things really early to try and get there in time which was very frustrating and would be the major reason we would not return to this location.

The pool was really nice and well patroled by life guards, although did get very busy at peak times. The food at the TS (sit down) restaurant Olivias was really excellent and we only didn't go again because we had so much else booked! The QS (counter service) restaurant Goods was rather average food and even at quiet times seemed disorganised and slow, which coupled with only having a tiny outdoor seating area was a major let down. Come on Disney - this is supposed to be a luxury resort!

We did have a great time there and the big rooms and living space made it easy for letting younger children (and adults) nap in peace whilst others could have space elsewhere, but without a major improvement in the transport it will continue to lose out to other resort locations. Several Disney Vacation Club members even voiced that they were planning to change to another location because of this.

Room Tip: Only 2 of the blocks have lifts so you may need to change rooms early in your stay to get one. If you have mobility problems all the stairs may not be for you and another location may be better. Some rooms are a long way from the main hospitality house so look up online what would work for you from the map of the resort and make use of the bell hops to deliver your luggage!
