We had a wonderful stay at Old Key West! This was our first time staying at a Disney Resort and we had a two bedroom villa. There were 7 of us staying there for 6 nights. I was surprised at how much room we had in the villa! My husband, two kids and I said in the bedroom that had two queen beds. This bedroom had a table and two chairs, along with a dresser with tv on it. There was also a walk in closet and then there was a sink area outside the attached bathroom which had another closet opposite it. Then in the bathroom there was another sink, plus toilet and shower. My sister, her husband and toddler stayed in the other bedroom, which had a king bed and room for their pack-n-play. Their attached bathroom had a soaker tub and separate shower. The villa had full-size washer and dryer, and there was LOTS of room to put all of the food that we brought with us. The villa was very bright with lots of windows. Our villa and the resort itself was very clean. The staff there was very nice. I called the front desk once for some dishwashing detergent and someone dropped it off within 15 minutes, which was surprising since the resort is so huge and spread out. We only used the main, big pool once. The slide was great, but it was very crowded. We had a smaller pool by our villa, which was never crowded. This pool was very clean and the water was warm. We thought the bus transportation worked well. We never had to wait more than 15 minutes for the bus to pick us up, although we heard from other people that they had longer waits.

This is actually two reviews for OKW: One-bedroom and Studio.

One-bedroom OKW: We arrived at OKW around 2:45. The lobby area was busy and a Cast Member came up to us and asked us if we had checked in on-line. We did, so she got my id and went to look for our package and check to see if our room was ready. She was back right away and said that our room was ready and we were happy.
They gave us the section that I requested (Old Turtle Pond) along with a room on the third floor. So the four of us unpacked the car and started our walk up the stairs with our luggage, food and cooler. We tried our magic bands and they did not work. It felt like 100 degrees out and all we wanted to do was get inside and unpack and relax. So my husband went back to the hospitality area to see what the problem was with our bands (we visit DW once a month and have never had any issues with the bands). So they told my husband that our room was not ready yet and an error in their system does not tell them when the housekeeping services are complete. They told us that they do not have any other rooms ready until 4 p.m. My husband had explained that we carried all of our stuff up three flights of stairs in the heat and I was waiting for the room to open. They said they would try to find another room so the kids and I put all the luggage, groceries and cooler (full) back to the bottom. Well then he calls me back and tells me that they are not moving us and that our carpet is drying. Finally the front desk calls the maids and the maids notified the front desk that the room has been available for some time. The front desk then apologized and offered us two extra fast passes. I was thinking some DVC points back. We took the two extra fast passes.
The room was located in the Old Turtle Pond Road area. We like it because it is quiet and has its own quiet pool and the bus stop is the second bus stop for pick up and drop off from the parks. Plus, I always ask for high floors so that we have no neighbors above us.
Our room was in building 35 and was a renovated room. The new hardwood floors are great. I liked the separate entrance to the bathroom. The king size bed in the bedroom is nice and plenty of room (lots of wasted space). In the living room, the sofa bed is a queen and there is also a sleeper chair, but they did not have a dresser or place in the living room to store clothes for the kids, so we had to give them drawers in our dresser in our room. In addition, there were no sheets for the pull out beds and we had to call to get them. The full size washer/dryer is nice, but I wish they used the room for another bathroom. Love the big balcony with a table and four chairs. The room is huge and we enjoyed cooking in the kitchen (other Disney Villas’ have small kitchens). I also love the Jacuzzi in the master suite area (feels great after being in the parks all day).
We only took the bus to Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom during this trip and we felt like we never had to wait too long for a bus. One day we missed a bus to MK and another bus was only 10 minutes behind.

Studio OKW: We came back a few days later (perk for living in Florida). This time we booked a studio and asked for the bottom floor at the Peninsular Road area. This is the first bus stop for all the parks and not too far of a walk to the Hospitality area. This time it was the two kids and I, so the two queen size beds were fine for one night. The bathrooms in the studio are large and the kitchenette area is a nice size with a small refrigerator, small kitchen sink, paper plates, coffee maker and some cleaning items. TV sits on the dresser and there is a closet for the clothes/suitcases. The room has a table for two and a nice size balcony. This check in was a lot easier because we arrived after 4 p.m. Studio is fine for a family of four (4 adults or 2 adults/2 children) if you don’t plan on spending much time in the rooms. Our room was clean and looked fine. We were in building 28. I liked the area for being the first bus stop and close to the hospitality area, however I like the Old Turtle Pond Area better because it was quieter. At the studio location, we could hear the buses and other noises go by our window, which faced the road. Could have been that building 35 (our first building) is more in the back and had a water view (Old Turtle Pond Road).
We ate at Olivia’s for breakfast this trip and it was great as usual, but we did not get to use any of the other services; such as the pools or community hall (used them in the past with no issues). We enjoy being DVC members and relaxing at the resorts. We love the one-bedroom villas for the size of our family. The resort is very family friendly and you can actually relax here. OKW is one of our homes and we enjoy staying here.
We are booked to stay here for New Years and will be staying at the Hospitality area so we can give that we can give that a try. We are also back at OKW for Spring Break 2015.

We stayed in a 2-bedroom villa in building 21 on Miller's Road, 2nd floor, for one week. 4 adults and 3 kids (including 1 toddler). A perfect stay! In the room when we arrived was a pack-n-play, a highchair (one of those wooden restaurant ones), a laundry basket, laundry and dishwasher detergent, and lots of items in the kitchen. (But bring a cutting board if you plan on cutting up fruits and veggies, they do not supply one.) There was no BBQ grill on our patio but there were two grills right by the small pool, a few minutes' walk away. We ate breakfast and dinner each night at our villa.

Busses were frequent, many times we were the only ones on the bus to and from the parks. When we needed another small box of laundry detergent, we called the front desk and it was delivered in less than 10 minutes. The dishwasher was pretty beat up, the bottom tray kept coming off the tracks, but it worked. No problems with noise. Love the little lizards darting all over the sidewalks and by the pools.

My favorite part of the villa was the master bathroom, which had two parts: a sink, closet, and jacuzzi tub in the front, and beyond the door, a large shower, sink, and the toilet. Many, many towels of all sizes were provided.

We tipped our housekeepers each morning by leaving cash on the pillow and got towel Mickeys and towel flowers each day.

Rooms were large; plenty of space for our toddler's pack-n-play in the room with us. Also lots of counter space in the kitchen area. Some of the cushions on the couch and chairs have stains but that kind of thing doesn't bother us.

We stayed for two nights at the 2 bedroom villa since we are a family of 5. The room was clean and easy to get to. They had some construction when we were there which took a little away from the magic but not a big deal. We were on the third floor with no elevator in sight which proved a little challenging to get the luggage up and the constant up and down with a stroller and two young kids. The pack and play we requested was in the room for us when we arrived. The rooms were large and we loved having the balcony that over looked the golf course plus the balcony was really private. It was really quiet and the smaller pool and playground was right across the parking lot which was really nice and easy. We never went in the larger pool and just stuck with the smaller one because the kids were having fun and no one else was there so it was like having our own pool. Our biggest problem was that we had no hot water and despite many calls to the front desk for the duration do our stay they could not fix it. I actually ended up washing the kids down at the pool shower one night. Even though they never fixed the problem when we were there when I called Disney and told them they bought us dinner and gave us a free night to make up for it that we could use during our next trip, which we definitely will some we are annual pass holders. We didn't eat at the restaurant, one of the benefits of having a villa is not having to run to get breakfast and the other meals we ate in the parks. It is a nice hotel and the busses ran about every 20 mins and were never that crowded even as the park closed, we were always able to sit down. Parking was not a problem and because of the busses once we parked the car it never moved and it was right in front. Bus stop about a two minute walk. Lots of activities. This is my second time here and I was not disappointed. I have stayed at better disney hotels and this one doesn't ooze disney magic but it's definitely nice.

Unlike most other Disney World resorts, you can park just outside your villa. Good grocery stores and restaurants are just a 5 to 8 minute drive away. Large, very comfortable suites with washer and drier, full kitchen. Very convenient Disney Bus transportation. First class - enjoyed it as much as Grand Floridian and Wilderness Lodge, where we stayed on our last 2 WDW trips.

Room Tip: we stayed in building 47 - a long walk from the main pool, but a one minute walk to the first bus s...

All the comforts of home but at Walt Disney world. Eat in your own kitchen or enjoy breakfast at Olivia's. Great pool & favorite hangout the Gurgling Suitecase. Hop on the bus & Disney world is minutes away. The best vacation spot for families, we do our family reunion there & always have a great time in this Key West themed resort. Like everything else that Disney foes, it's first rate.

Room Tip: Try for a room near one of the several bus stops as well the Hospitality House.

We have stayed at OKW many times and keep returning. It is my sons' favorite Disney resort. After a busy day at the parks, it's always nice to have a little down time. The rooms are spacious, compared to many other vacation club and hotel rooms. They have been recently renovated adding granite and wood flooring and new bedding. The pool and sand area are always a favorite for my sons along with the Community House and campfires. This resort isn't nearly as busy and crowded as others (Beach Club, Boardwalk). It retains a beachy-feel and it's very easy to get around, especially with parking right outside your room.

Room Tip: Main floor rooms are best with a stroller.
