I loved the fact that the room was contemporary and it didn't look like Mickey Mouse threw up all over our rooms. After being at WDW all day it was so nice to have the break from all of that! Somebody on the monorail called it sterile - I call it clean, contemporary and visually quiet :-) The kitchen worked out very nicely for breakfasts in the morning and snacks late at night. Having a second bathroom was great since we had some friends over one night to play cards and catch up. There was a washer and dryer so we only packed a couple changes of clothes so we could do carry on. The bed was SUPER comfortable and we had a balcony over looking the lake so we could see all the activities outside. There is a boat parade on the lake each night at 10 but if you miss it you didn't miss out on much. There are also fireworks each night at the castle on the other side of the hotel if you can get a room facing the castle and they are amazing and they start at 8. We had a wonderful stay and would definately stay there again!

Great Hotel, easy walk to Magic Kingdom. No need to take Monorail or bus. Used our DVC points for a 1 bedroom. Nice having full kitchen, washer dryer. Spacious, clean rooms.

All rooms have agreat view, I would imagine. You are overlooking the pool, pool/lake, park, or lake/park. great view of fireworks, easy access to monorail line and buses if you need to get there.

Only down side to be DVC member is the rooms are not cleaned everyday. They clean every 3-4 days because you are really staying in an apartment. No big dela, call the front desk and you have towles pretty quickly!

Room Tip: all rooms have great view. Lake view seems more tranquil. Get park view if you like fireworks. Vi...

We staid here using DVC points for a spring get-a-way last year and loved it!

Room -- We had a studio standard view room, which over looked the kingdom, bay lake, and woods. We don't see the need to spend the points for MK view, but that is personal preference. The room set-up was a bit small, but perfect for the amount of time we spent there.

Bonus for DVC members staying only at Bay Lake -- the lounge. We loved it and may have to return to BLT just to get a drink in this wonderful get-a-way with a perfect view of MK.

Location -- This is a great location with a variety of transportation options -- walk to the kingdom, take the monorail to Epcot or other MK resorts, take boat ride to other areas around the lake, or bus trip to just about anywhere.

Theme -- Its very clean, modern, and well contemporary. It wasn't our favorite Disney theme, but that could be that we have a family with a 4 yr old.

Restaurants -- Great options, decent prices, and yummy food. Like all deluxe resorts (they share with Contemporary) at Disney you can get everything from full service to quick service. Our favorites at BLT/Contemporary are the Wave and California Grill but the quick service is solid and Chef Mickey's is perfect for kids.

Other Offerings -- Love the beach chairs -- perfect place to get a-way, pool slide, and walking grounds. We were surprised how easy it was to get a-way from all things Mickey when you were at the heart of his kingdom. We will be back!

The Bay Lake Tower at Disney is a great place to stay for families with toddlers. The reason for this is the ease of walking to Magic Kingdom and the availability of the monorail to Epcot. Also having a full kitchen makes it possible to prepare breakfast or any other meal that you would like.
We stayed in a 2 bedroom villa and it was very spacious for the 6 adults and 3 toddlers. It was especially convenient having 3 bathrooms.
There is a negative and that is the fact that the walls are very thin. You can here everything in other rooms.
I also have to admit that next time I would stay in the Epcot area. I feel that the atmosphere at those resorts is nicer and more relaxing.

We stayed one night in a Studio – Theme Park View room in Nov 2011. The room size and configuration was perfect for 2 adults and 1, 1.5-year old toddler (in a pack n play). We put the pack n play in the hallway by the mini kitchen which gave the adults room to move around and watch TV while the toddler was sleeping. We brought our own pack n play and were pleasantly surprised to find the hotel pack n play in the closet- so we really didn't need one. Our room faced the castle and we had great views of the nighttime fireworks.

The location is great and is only a short monorail (5-10min) trip from the park entrance which was really important to us since we stayed for only one night. During the night of our arrival, we rode the monorail around the entire loop and had a blast- my son loved it.

The pool is awesome at Bay Lake! The resort had pool activies and seperate spaces that appealed to both big kids and toddlers. There was an area where the water squirted from the ground (my son loved it), a big water slide, a small water slide which was a perfect size for my son, a pool, and a small family friendly counter service.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a theme park view! It is worth it!

We visited with family the last week of September 2011. We booked a lake view unit and ended up with a view of the lake as well as a view of the Magic Kingdom. We checked in at 11 a.m. ( I always do online check in) On line check in line was empty. We walked up completed check in in less than 10 minutes. Collected our rented stroller from bell services, moved rental car to Bay Lake Tower parking area and were off to Magic Kingdom (it's a 5-10 minutes walk to the Magic Kingdom). We headed up to our room at 4 p.m.. Please understand I am a bit of a clean freak. The room was exceptionally clean. Our family consisted of 6 adults and one child. We stayed in a dedicated 2 bedroom unit. The kitchen was equipped with everything we would need. The washer and dryer right in the unit what a bonus. It has it's own dedicated pool which was very nice although it is a little small compared to the pool at the poly and beach club. Still it was nice, clean, there was always and abundance of towels and life jackets for the little one. We will be vacationing again at Bay Lake Tower the September 20125 with our family again.

Room Tip: We were on the 11th floor, close to but not to close to elevator,

Just returned from our first DVC stay at our new home away from home, BLT, and all things considered, we loved it. The rooms (we had a 1BR villa) are nicely appointed and spacious. As previous posters have mentioned, the location is just ridiculous. The Magic Kingdom is closer than it looks -- only a 5-10 minute walk -- and the monorail is right there as well. On this basis alone, I'm not sure we're going to be excited to stay anywhere else when we go to Disney, at least as long as my daughter is of an age where we're spending a good amount of time at MK. The Top of the World Lounge is also a nice perk for DVC members staying on points -- offers a cool vantage point for the nightly fireworks.

As compared to resort hotels anywhere, it's a 4 star place, which is why I've rated it as I have. As compared to Disney hotels, however, it's definitely a 5 star property. On my last trip a few months ago, I stayed at the Poly, which is also a "Deluxe," and the rooms at the Poly can't hold a candle to the rooms at BLT. For example, the master bath has an oversized whirlpool tub and a rain shower, and the kitchen had granite counter tops -- the rooms at the Poly, by contrast, were basically standard hotel rooms with south Pacific decor.

Full disclosure, the rooms and the property as a whole are not as heavily themed as other Disney resorts. The design is clean and "contemporary," if you'll pardon the pun, but it doesn't scream Disney like some properties. With that in mind, your mileage may vary depending upon how important that is to you.

Room Tip: "Lake view" rooms were not worth the extra cost, IMO. While the units in the center of th...
