“Birthday Dinner”

Food is outstanding, everything done to perfection, and the staff on top of every need, that was our third visit, and it's been the same everytime, a bit pricey, but well worth it. We will go again for sure.

“Fine Food .... Atrocious Service”
Reviewed 15 November 2013

Its hard to know what to rate this restaurant which had had the two basics of a restaurant at opposite ends of the spectrum. The food was fantastic .... but the service was just awful.

I brought some important guests to eat at this restaurant and the unthinkable happened ... they missed the order of my guest, so he was left waiting 25mins extra for his entrée and the rest of the table had finished. However this was just the punchline of terrible service. One of our starters came out 10 mins after the others. The entrées were brought out the kitchen and then taken back as they realised that the table hadn't been cleared. The signature Tomahawk steak was significantly undercooked for one of our guests and we ended up pouring our own wine all night as the wait-staff were no where to be seen. I should mention this was a quiet Monday night, not a night where it was jammed. I think much of this came down to the waiter, who really had no place being in such a fine dining restaurant. It is basic to make sure all the dishes arrive for dining guests. Instead after 10 mins I had to go find him (we had given up on the "it will be here in 1 min" routine). When he was made aware, we got some lame excuse, a further 10 mins later, another lame excuse. You know mistakes happen, take responsibility, let us know, offer some options. No one likes being lied to.

To be fair, the food, when it did arrive, was very good . The shrimps were fat & juicy and crabmeat sweet. The Caesar salad prepared at the table was also very good. Steaks were great (save the undercooked steak).

Given our displeasure, the waited brought several desserts complementary to our table. This was a nice touch and the desserts were spectacular. In particular a lemon dessert, which I think was poached, but not sure. Either way they were very good.

In the end this experience reminds me of the story about a frog that has half its body on ice and half in hot water. On average the Frogs temperature is fine ... but the frog is still dead. That's how I feel about this restaurant it is average but still dead to me.

“Impressive Steak and Atmosphere”
Reviewed 9 November 2013

Read about the Bull & Bear and decided on a reservation before realizing that it was located at the Waldorf Astoria. Turned out great, as that was where we were staying. Just a beautiful atmosphere with comfortable seats in a warm setting. The New York strip was absolutely delicious, as was the Delmonico to share. The service was plentiful and expedient, and the wine list was extensive and fairly priced for an expensive steak house. Would definitely go back again while visiting Orlando - so much more comfortable and delicious than most of the other steak houses in the area.

“BEST STEAK IN ORLANDO maybe FLORIDA”
Reviewed 2 November 2013 credit card Amex Cardmember Review

I have now dined at the Bull & Bear more than 30 times. It never disappoints...exceptional food. Impeccable service. Great and extensive wine list. The manager Manny is a world renowned GM and knows how to take care of business customers. The ambiance is elegant and perfect for business and a romantic night out. Beautiful views. If you have a private business dinner book the private dining room.
