With most things Disney in my experience (and I am speaking of my experiences only) they go above and beyond with customer service. The Animal Kingdom Lodge Arusha View Room was a great stay. The room was basically a standard hotel room, but was decorated with some pretty cool African themed items. we really enjoyed our stay and the highlight of the room is the view of the Arusha Savanna. I must say it was pretty cool to have the animal right poutside our window. We say many animals includinh giraffes, zebras and ostriches and our kids got a reall kick out of it. The issue for us (which could have been due to the time of the year) was we left the room around 7 for breakfast and to get to the parks and usually didn't return until after 9 when parks close and when it was already dark. You can see some of the animals at this time but there are no lights, which I understand why. It was a good experience, but the steep price is not something I will pay again. I would suggest getting a regular savannah room if you must see the animals or a standard room. The resort has many palces where you can look at the animals so getting a room with a savannah view isn't a must.

Room Tip: Get close to the main lobby or its a long walk!

We stayed here before departing in the Disney Cruise line and after we returned. It was so nice and clean and the staff were really great with my kids. The told thw m stories and even played the drums with them. There was a small hiccup with the magic band but it was fixed quickly. We are DCC members so we always treated as such. We are retuning in may for 7 days and and will be staying at kidani village which is our home resort. So excited! With the spectacular view of the animals you can never go wrong with Animal Kingdom Lodge!

Stayed in a 2 bedroom apartment and was blown away by not only the views but the rooms also, we were even greeted outside reception by a member of staff who knew our names before we even told her! Absolutely breath taking as a whole. Highly highly recommend for families and couples.

Very unique in that there are animals roaming around right outside of the hotel. Beautiful large lobby and the rooms are very nice as we had a balcony room looking over the pool. Unless you have money to burn do not pay extra for the rooms overlooking the preserve as there are viewing areas to see the animals in the hotel that gives you a better view of the animals. The pool rooms are also much closer to the lobby. The pool is great as our grandson loved the slide. No problem with the buses taking you to the other theme parks. The criticism of the buses are way over blown. Breakfast at the buffet was excellent but a little pricey, but the formal restaurant was much too exprensive for me. Mara, the casual restaurant by the pool was not exprensive and the food was fine. My grandson also enjoyed the arcade. Definitely enjoyed Animal Lodge.

Room Tip: Go for the standard room by the pool

As grandparents we took our son and his family (two children ages 10 and 11) to this resort for six days. The hotel is so well done - authentically African safari, down to the cast members that work in the resort are on a one year internship from parts of Africa. The kids loved seeing the wildlife roaming on the savannah. We had rooms facing the pool since they were already pricey enough without upgrading to the savannah view. You can view the animals from the corridors to the lobby and also out of the viewing decks with telescopes. Also, if you're around the pool, the savannah is right around the corner. It's a really unique experience that everyone enjoyed.
I had hoped the pool would be more interesting like the one at the Beach Club. This pool had one slide (not too high though).
We enjoyed dining at the Boma - breakfast and lunch area, the Juko was fabulous but not for children and the cafe food was excellent, fresh and plentiful, not expensive.
The only reason I wouldn't stay here again is that the bus ride to the Magic Kingdom is quite long - around 30-40 minutes plus 20 minute wait time for the bus to arrive. I'd rather stay at a resort closer to Epcot or the Kingdom for that reason. But for an unusual experience for the children - excellent choice. As always the Disney staff are outstanding and this resort really feels "new" and fresh.

We stayed for three nights in this resort husband, our 2 yrs old and myself. As all Disney Resorts the property and it's decor are amazing, I will compare it in beauty with the Wilderness Lodge, grounds are buildings are very well kept. The fact that you are in the middle of a savannah makes it very unique, I recommend staying in savannah view room as it is an awesome experience and you can see the animals from the peace of your balcony, we were not in the Arusha Savannah, our savannah did not have giraffes nor zebras but still there were some interesting animals to look at and the view was very peaceful and pleasant.Service is not bad but not the best, room service for instance never included a glass of water or ice even when ordering a three course dinner, rooms are very nice, clean and spacious, but not five star. There are no beach, water sports or walking trails at this resort. There are though several path or viewing areas to enjoy watching the savannah. Overall a very nice experience worth do it at least once in your life time.
