We LOVE Disney!! This hotel is further away than a lot of hotels, but the uniqueness of the animals makes it worth the little extra time to get to Point A to Point B. The hotel is VERY clean. The staff always went above and beyond. The little shampoo and conditioner bottles they give you are the best we've had at any hotel, ever. The beds were comfortable. This was a wonderful hotel and great stay.

Awesome hotel. Worth the extra money to get view of the savannah. People are friendly. Fridge in room. Two nice pools with water slides. Several restaurants at hotel. Rainforest cafe is very close at the entrance to the Animal Kingdom park. Playground is good for young kids.

Room Tip: Get a savannah view to see the animals from your balcony.

Second stay at the Animal Kingdom Lodge -- the first was over 8 years ago -- so this qualifies for a 1st review since my memory of the first visit is pretty faint. My top tips up top then my general review afterwards.

Here are my key tips for short reading:
Tip #1 - There is a laundry room onsite. If you want to minimize on luggage clothing bulk to bring other things (food) - you can wash your clothes halfway through your vacation. See my pictures of the Laundry Room. Soap and Softener were a couple of bucks. Bring Quarters or dollar bills for the change machine inside the room. There is a T.V. in there as well. Tip: Wash Laundry either early in the morning or later in the evening while most people are sleeping or out in the parks.

Tip #2 - The Mara - Cafeteria Style Restaurant on site - Food was affordable (hot meals, cold meals, sandwiches, ice cream, drinks); breakfast, lunch, dinner. Pictures loaded of the Mara. Get there by walking out towards the pool. NOTE: there is an all you can drink soda at the Mara that you purchase a cup for. You purchase the cup and a scanner reads the cup for dispensing soda at the machines. You prepay for the period of time you want (1 day to xx days).

Tip #3 - The on-site store has food towards the back. Microwaveable food in the freezer section. Mac and cheese, milk, lunchables -- Kid friendly food. There is other food to purchase as well. I believe I saw the microwave in the Mara area next to the toaster.

Smoking Tip - There is an area in front of the hotel that has a bench or two -- surrounded by a good assortment of plants. You can smoke a cigar (like me) or bring your cigarettes and expect a mix of cigarettes with the occasional cigar.

General Experience:
Check in process: Easy. The family was hoping for a room that may be ready immediately however we were told that all the rooms were occupied and those that had earlier checked out were not cleaned. Understandable. We were able to get our Magic Bands and tickets to go into the Animal Kingdom for the morning and kill some time and have some breakfast. We were able to leave our bags with the concierge while we went into the park. We were told we would get a call on our mobile phone once the room was ready but that did not happen.

The room: Standard Room for Disney (compared to a few Disney resorts we have stayed at). Plenty of pictures from others that show them pretty well. Wifi service was strong in the room and throughout the lobby area.

Daily Maid Service: For the 7 days we were there -- the room was cleaned by the time we got back 6 out of 7 times. We do not know what happened on the 1 day it was missed but the next day the room was tidied up. Overall very neat and tidy.

The pool: Good pool -- very open and very long and wide. Check out the pictures. Note that the pool will close when thunder clouds are approaching. Lightning strikes would not do well with people in the pool. Pool will stay closed until the clouds pass and all clear is given.

The workout room: Standard cable weights, dumbells, running machine and eliptical machine. What is hidden in the back is a nice sauna that you can sit in for a while. I saw in there once and was not disturbed by anybody else for a good hour. Shower available in there as well. Nobody -- absolutely nobody used it for the whole 2 hours I was in there. It was a nice way to relax.

We like the Animal Kingdom -- It is nice to wake up to animals potentially by your outside back door. We saw animals both in the morning and the evening time from our balcony area. The service is good, greetings to and from all the staff. The maid staff said hello to me every morning when they saw me. The Animal Kingdom is on one end of the land that houses Disneyworld so it will take some time to get to the other entertainment places -- the farthest ride is to Downtown Disney.

Would we stay here again -- absolutely.

Room Tip: Good room depends on your preferences -- Animal view important? Get a savannah view room. Try to s...

Just spent a week at the Animal Kingdom Lodge. We found the service first class. The rooms were clean and the maid service every day was so fast and thorough. My kids enjoyed going out on the balcony to see the animals every day. They couldn't get enough of it. Both restaurants served phenomenal food. We found the pool to be clean and a great place to hang out.

Loved this place the rooms were very nice . There were lots of unusual animals right outside our window everyday. The pool was nice. Also, the food was excellent. Everyone attentive. Only downsides --- long bus rides to attractions, rooms are far away from lobby , check in process took an hour.

We booked this hotel during another trip to Naples, FL and decided to try. Flew into Naples and out of Orlando, about a 3 hour drive. We had some issues with our requested room not being available and also with all the seniors jazzies plugged into the wall near our room. Believe it or not, we were upgradedto a two room, three bathroom suite. Incredible, we did not want to leave. One of the best rooms we ever had with giraffes and zebras right outside either of our patio doors.
