Amazing two week stay - Thank you Disney
5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 27 Sept 2019via mobile
We are just back from the most amazing two week stay at Animal Kingdom Lodge Jambo House. The theming here is amazing.

We booked a standard view room and were allocated a room on the 5th floor. On the my Disney experience app I was able to request a room close to the lobby on a higher floor which is exactly what we got. It over looked the parking lot but to be honest, as we were in the room so little, and it was dark by the time we came back from the parks, a savannah view would have probably been wasted on us and so I’m glad we didn’t fork out the extra £1000 to cover the upgrade. We were able to view the savannah from areas around the lobby and so we still got to see the animals. The major advantage of our room was its proximity to the elevator and the lobby. We met people on the buses who said they had a ten minute walk back to their room once they arrived back at the bus stop. For us, it was so convenient to be two mins away from the bus stop and the lobby.

The room itself was fine, comfy beds, quiet air con and all very clean and mousekeeping were exceptional. We were happy to tip their service each day. They often left a little surprise, like laying out our Minnie ears, or putting my daughters teddy bear in sunglasses playing beach ball. We loved these little personal touches.

The pool is lovely and there were always plenty of beds.

The Mara is the quick service food court and we had mixed experiences here. The mobile ordering system seemed to fall flat on its face on a couple of occasions here. The printer had broken so they hadn’t picked up our order and we had to wait a long time etc BUT, the food is good. Great for breakfast, for snacks and for refilling the drinks mugs.

We didn’t try the food at Boma but Jiko was absolutely amazing, highly recommend the Black grouper, it was insanely good!!! Service was top notch and we had a beautiful meal.

The cast members throughout Disney are generally all wonderful and go out of their way to make your day magical and at Animal Kingdom Lodge they were all lovely.

We loved Disney and will definitely be back, we will be trying another hotel next time and that’s no reflection on this hotel, just because there are so many other lovely ones to explore.

Second floor great view but you are there for the parks... Problems with transportation. Food was only so so. Lots of potential but hardly first class for the price. And they fixed the transportation problems... but they shouldn’t have occurred in the first place

Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge is one of my favorite Resorts to visit. The stunning views, rich history, and gorgeous African-inspired decor truly transport you to the tropical savanna. There's nothing quite like starting off a day of excitement with the savanna right outside your door.

While I am sad to see of the disappointments you mentioned, it’s great to know our Cast Members worked to restore the magic to your visit. We strive to provide efficient and safe transportation for all of our Guests, and I apologize for any misstep you may have experienced. Please be assured, you did the right thing by expressing your concerns to your Resort Leadership.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us. It is my hope that we’ll be greeting you with a warm, “Dumela” again real soon!

Had a wonderful time, with a great room overlooking the area where the animals roam. They feed the animals in strategic areas so that you can have an upclose experience with them. The room we chose including access to a lounge, with breakfast, all day snacks, and beer and wine included. We will certainly stay here again.

Room tip: Rooms overlooking the Serengeti are the best.

Dumela, Ernst! I’m roaring with joy knowing you had such a wonderful time during your visit! Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge is already such an incredible experience all by itself, so add on the extra magic of Club Level service, and you have yourself one safari adventure of a visit!

The ability to grab a warm cup of coffee, head out onto your own private savanna-overlook, and enjoy the morning sunrise is a perfect way to kick off a Disney day. It looks like you got some fantastic photos, too!

Thank you so much for sharing your experience with us. Kwahirini, until next time!

We stayed here 8 nights which in hindsight was too many. The hotel is dated, but nice. We were upgraded to a savannah view after construction noise made our standard view untenable.

The staff make the hotel, our daughter adored the bead activities, s’mores and interactions learning about Africa and animals.

However the hotel is really spread out, in general it has a bit of a 90’s feel which is dated. We’re a bit over it after a week.

Hi there, Jocelyn! When you stay at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge, we want you to feel like you are on your very own African safari! While this Resort hotel may not be a perfect fit for your family, I am certainly glad you gave it a try.

It is wonderful to hear that our Cast Members made such an impact on your vacation. They are committed to ensuring you are having the best experience possible, and it sounds like they helped you make some wonderful memories.

For your next visit, I suggest checking out Disney's BoardWalk Inn. The Resort hotel itself is simply charming, and the location is absolutely amazing! There is bustling excitement right outside, and you are within walking distance of both Epcot and Disney's Hollywood Studios. With so much to do, I think this would be a great option for your family.

Thank you for sharing some feedback from your experience. We hope to see you real soon.

We always go hereto eat from the quick serve menu, it’s good value for money and great portion sizes, they also do excellent children’s menu, the lodge itself is stunning, with great views of the savannah, and of all the animals.

Dumela! Thank you for taking the time to leave us with this short but sweet review of Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge and your experience at The Mara.

Did you know The Mara is named for a river which flows through Kenya and Tanzania? Now you do!

I'm so pleased to know you had such a nice visit - from watching the animals on the savanna to dining at one of our delicious restaurants. Until next time!

When staying in a Savannah View room, we find staying in lower floor room is better because the tree tops block the animals higher up.

The pool at Jambo is disappointing to say the least, but has a bar with food and a quick serve restaurant nearby. The Kidani pool is much better for relaxing and slide use, but no food is readily available at the pool.
