“Good family condo stay”
Reviewed 31 December 2013 via mobile

Stayed at my son's time share at Marriott Sabal Palms Resort. Wow! This Marriott complex is home to 3 or 4 Marriott Resorts. All amenities are available to all resorts. Great place for the modern traveling, time sharing family. Spent Christmas Week there. No need to fight the bustling traffic of Orland around xmas time. Marriott has it all. Condo units are well maintained, clean and offers privacy in spite of the unit density of multiple resorts. If you can't go to Hawaii, take your family here!

Stayed here with a friend/colleague on a business trip. Had a 2 BR with 2 separate bathrooms, a laundry, full kitchen, living/dining room and screened in porch overlooking the golf course. Rooms were large, comfortable, clean and well-serviced. Nice to be able to have breakfast before starting the day, and have some wine and snacks before dinner. Or be able to go to the supermarket and make a simple dinner in the kitchen.
Only 2 criticisms, one is the PC in the lobby wouldn't let me get to MSN Outlook in order to print voucher; unsatisfactory explanation from the clerk at the desk. So I paid for 10 minutes of time with no results. The other is the 10am check out time; way too early, and as we were attending a conference, we had to check out at 8am, which made us late to our morning session.

Room Tip: ask for a lower level so you don't have to lug suitcases and/or groceries up the stairs

Positive nice surprises ----

Night lights built into the wall in several areas

Dish soap--enough for the stay and dishwasher soap for the stay. That is not common at all condo rentals. Usually we have to get our own

Ice maker in the freezer, again, not always a given. Also FREE BAGS OF ICE at the front desk!

Lots of drinking glasses and plastic glasses, glad for those.

Screened in patio with a lot of room

Vacuum, broom and iron in a nice little closet

Big closets.

Great bedding and feather free options. Plenty of pillows

Lots of wash cloths and hand towels.

Lots of hot water

Big shower in master with separate closed off toilet

Good lighting options and amount of outlets in whole unit.

Super quiet area and easy to find plenty of parking.

Pool at our particular villa area very warm and never busy.

Bad points

I don't like that the shower could not be closed off from the bathroom. I like a hot steamy shower and without it being enclosed you don't get that. All it does is steam up the bedroom.

I REALLY like taking a bath on vacation and this is the first Marriott property without a nice big tub in the master. I was SO upset. I did not want to use the 2nd bathroom tub it was small and being used by the kids. Bummer.

Impossible to have a dark bedroom in master as the block glass lets light in all night from front and then early am gets bright fast.

Kind of cramped second room--maybe give an option for two twins then move the 2nd bed further from the closet door? It was almost impossible to get off the bed without banging into closet door.

We had friends and family come visit there with us and they LOVED it and are going to book there in two months.

We WILL go back. Just have to remember the things we disliked.

Room Tip: pick one that does not have the bathroom in master facing sunrise or it will light up VERY fast in t...

This is one of the best places we have stayed in the Orlando area. Several weeks before arrival, I was contacted as to my preferences. Each priority was met. We arrived early, but our villa was ready almost immediately. Located about half way between the Disney parks and Sea World and just a very short distance to shopping and great restaurants. The villas are very large and comfortable with every convenience including full size washer and dryer. The shower is fantastic. Each unit has its own water heater so no fear of running out of hot water. If I could have packed it up and taken it home with me, I would have. We were never approached about a timeshare or vacation presentation which was refreshing.
If we decide to return next year, we will definitely return to Marriott's Sabal Palms.

Had another great week in Orlando at our favorite place, Sabal Palms (we prefer it over the other villas there on the Marriott World Center Property - Royal Palms and Imperial Palms). It's always our go-to place where our family feels relaxed and comfortable. But with that said, we did notice some subtle changes and feel improvements need to be made.

Living room carpeting looks like it's been through the wringer, "new" updated furnishings look old and dated (yep, screams 1970's). Where's the morning paper that was always delivered to the villa door (hey, might sound picky, but that was always nice)? Where's the big binder that was always in the villa, with information about the property, restaurants, Orlando, take out menus? No cleaning spray (aka Windex-type stuff) under the kitchen counter anymore (we ALWAYS use that to clean the glass dining room table)?

The 2 chairs they put in the livingroom in place of the smaller couch/loveseat that used to be there are TOTALLY uncomfortable. I also think the master bedroom bed is no longer a king, but a queen, but who knows....I could be totally wrong on that. It just seems smaller.

I also didn't care for the new shampoo/conditioner/lotion products that are in the bathrooms now (something called First Crush)....yuck. Also saw a lot of scratches, stains, other dirty type things that we usually never see (housekeeping/maintenance seems to not be on the ball there as much as in the past).

But with those "minor", lol, complaints, we still love the comfort and convenience of Sabal Palms, and we never like to get a downstairs unit due to upstairs noise. This time around, though, we DID end up with a downstairs unit, and it was fine. People upstairs were quiet, phew!

Sabal Palms is close to everything in Orlando. And the pools there were nicely heated (especially the Sabal Palms one...it was SO warm and felt nice on chilly days/nights). Best pool ever is the Spa Pool (near the "big" pool, but a different smaller pool, very tropical and pretty). And the new "kiddie" pool area up top of the big pool is adorable.....wish that had been there when my kids were real little!! :)

Room Tip: UPSTAIRS villas are the way to go, if you can get one! Sometimes the noise from upstairs units if y...

Great place to stay, with spacious units. Master bedroom is huge, with a very large shower. Pool is nice, and you can use the pool at the hotel if you don't mind the 10 min walk. Very close to Disney, but it's best if you have your own car. Housekeeping is great. If you ask the concierge about Disney, you'll find there's a shuttle bus, but the hours are inconvenient and you have to pay a premium. There are plenty of other resorts that make it easy to take a shuttle to Disney if that is your primary reason for visiting.

Room Tip: Plan to use your car for Disney trips if you want the convenience of coming and going as you please...

Our daughter, soninlaw and granddaughter live in Orlando but since I have points to use, we have spent a week in a Marriott timeshare in Orlando a couple of times and it works out pretty nice. Have stayed at Cypress Harbour twice and it is fine, but with the number of points I had left, Sabal Palms looked like the nicest place I could get a two bedroom booked during the time that worked for us all. So anyway, booked a week (from Friday to Friday) at the resort. It is a fairly small resort but is adjacent to the Marriott World Center and folks staying at the Sabal have access to all the World Resort amenities. The Sabal resort does have a nice pool and small gym along with a pingpong table, sand volleyball court and tennis courts. It is also connected to the golf course. I'm not a golfer but if you are, I think this would be a great resort to stay at. The Marriott World Resort had a giant pool, huge slide and a nice zero entry kiddie pool that we took advantage of a couple of the days. This resort is only a couple of miles from Disney World, but we don't go to Orlando for that. Been there, done that. So we go to see our granddaughter (and son-in-law and daughter I suppose). The villa itself is nice although just a bit dated. Full size washer and dryer as well as a full kitchen come in handy and allow a family to make themselves right at home. The Master bedroom bath is huge and open to the master bedroom. That could be a problem if one of you plans on sleeping later than the other, but it wan't a problem for my wife and I. Instead of a large, jetted tub that many of the Marriott resort villa's have, these villa's have a large shower with multiple heads. My son-in-law used it every day instead of the shower in their (2nd) bedroom. He says he has to have one at home now. There is a small playground on the property and outdoor gas grills for cooking. So all in all, a very nice place that worked out great for our family. Enough amenities at the resort itself to keep a family with a small child busy, but close access via a sidewalk to additional things like restaurants, larger pool, shops etc if wanted/needed. The drive in can be a bit deceiving as you have to drive past the parking garage and the back of multiple buildings, but once at the resort, it is a nice oasis to spend some relaxing time with the family.

Room Tip: This resort is small enough it's really not "spread out" like some of the larger Marri...
