“A breath away from the magic”
Reviewed 1 August 2014

We are DVC members and have stayed at many resorts both on and off property. This is one of my favorites. Easy access to the magic but not overwhelming "Disneyfied". Transportation either by boat or bus. We loved the theming of the entire resort. There are excellent dining options. Roaring Fork is Quick service (adequate). Whispering Canyon is table service and has improved greatly since our last visit (ask for ketchup). We stayed in a studio and 4 of us were very comfortable for the week.

Room Tip: Ask for rooms far from the center of the villas building for quiet.

We are DVC members and love Wilderness Lodge. The hotel has a great atmosphere. We had a two bedroom villa which had lots of room and was very comfortable with everything we needed. We felt that that recent refurbishment had not been done to a particularly high standard with paint already flaking from the kitchen cabinets. We found villa not to be cleaned to the same high standard of previous stays. Staff mostly helpful but some appeared not really to be interested in us - this was mostly in the Roaring Forks snack bar where some staff members looked very unhappy; food not great there either. Location is excellent. Pool area great. We found bus transportation to be fine, we never had to wait long and we always managed to get a seat.

This place was everything we could've hoped for!!! Check in was breezy and took about 5 minutes. Restaurants were good, just wish they were open a little later, as we sometimes didn't get back from the parks until 10:30 or later. The buses were one of the best parts. We parked our car when we arrived and didn't drive it again until we left. Buses take 5-10 minutes to get to the parks and we never waited more than 10 minutes for pick ups. Take advantage of the bus system!!! All over, a wonderful experience and we look forward to staying here again. Disney really doesn't miss a beat on anything!!

Myself and my family, total of 7, stayed for a week in the Villas. Room was recently refurbished and was very nice. Beautiful view of Bay Lake and the water pageant in the evenings from our balconies. Entire complex was huge with wonderful décor. My only complaints are that the cleaning service each day could have done a better job in the kitchen and on the floors. Also, we ate twice in Whispering Canyon Restaurant and on the night of my grandson's birthday the server brought out some cookies with a candle for him, however, when we were presented with the bill they had charged us for this item. It's not the cost that bothered me, but if we don't ask
for something and you bring it out, then don't charge us. It's the principal of the matter! Otherwise, the entire family had a wonderful time at this resort and I would stay there again and recommend it to others.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the 5th (top) floor. Great view of Bay Lake and the Water Pageant in the evenings...

Villas are very clean and very quiet. Nice to hang out by the smaller pool. Room could have been a little bigger but at Disney how much are you really in the room? Wish there was another restaurant on premise. My biggest complaint was transportation. Long waits to get back & forth from Magic Kingdom. Long way to Animal Kingdom. Would stay here again but prefer Yacht Club or Contemporary.

Room Tip: Ask for a room close to the elevator or you are in for a LONG walk!!!!!

We are Disney Vacation Club members trying out this resort for the first time. We've stayed at Animal Kingdom (3 times) and Bay Lake Towers once. I have to say this was our least favourite of the three but beautiful nonetheless. I loved the lobby and detail of the decor and grounds and the activities offered. We rented a pontoon boat and bikes and had a great time in the beautiful pool area as well. We ate in the lobby restaurant which was pricey for lunch but the food was good and service excellent. The kids wanted to hang in the room for the first night so my husband and I had a drink and appetizers at the lounge. Pulled pork nachos and flatbread were amazing and again....service was great. Not so great was that we had to wait until the very last min to check in at 4, our room was not exactly clean and garbages weren't emptied. We called down and they did send two ladies to correct the situation. Also my husband had ordered a couple of gifts/surprises to be waiting for us in the room. They weren't and he spent an hour on the phone tracking them down. Minor issues that certainly didn't take away from the positives....just worth mentioning. Our kids also love the community hall activity room at Animal Kingdom but unfortunately it isn't offered at this resort....just child minding for $15/hr in the kids club. A nice facility but only up until age 12. We will definitely be back to Disney..just maybe time to try Polynesian or Grand Floridian :)

Room Tip: We had a 2 Bedroom villa and requested the 5th floor but got the 3rd. Would recommend requesting a r...

From the moment we entered until we left it was great. The people were very helpful and the room was great. Our room had everything we needed and was comfortable and clean. This is why I stay with Disney. My son and I had a "Magical" time. Close to the MK and seems in a world all it's own.
