“A quiet retreat”
Reviewed 13 November 2011

I've stayed here five time this year (so far), and leave this afternoon for another business trip to Orlando. This could be just an ok Ritz and no one would fault it... It's in the theme park capital of the world. Fortunately, this is one of the finest Ritz Carlton's in the US. Great for families, great for business - they really do take things up a notch here.

Room Tip: North tower rooms with a lake view give you a great view of the golf course as well.

This could be not a great Ritz and no one would be surprised - it's in Orlando, theme-park capital of the world. Fortunately, not only is it a fantastic hotel, it's also the best hotel in Orlando and one of the best in Florida. I've stayed at the Ritz 5 times this year for business (leaving again this afternoon for another two night stay), and the ladies and gentleman of the Ritz Carlton Orlando Grand Lakes I'm sure will do something within the first five minutes of my arrival to let me now why I stay here. Is it the bar staff ok knowing that I love the pretzels at the bar, and the next time I stay have a box of them waiting for me in my rooms? Is it the front desk going the extra step to make sure everything is perfect? It's the entire Ritz package... It's a spot - whether with family or by myself - that I can go and relax and do who I need to do. Bravo!

Room Tip: Rooms on the north side have a great view of the golf course.

Within the same week I stayed at the Ritz Carlton for business (2 nights) and later, the JW Marriott (1 night) for pleasure. I would choose the Ritz over JW Marriott based on the quality of the rooms, the beds, and the amenities. However, they are both very nice hotels and the grounds are immaculate. The restaurants vary in quality (and service speed), but in general I think the Ritz has better food / chefs. The spa is very nice as well (although pricey) - if you do the spa, be sure to build in extra time to enjoy the whirpool, saunce, steam room, relaxation areas (inside and outside), and snacks/drinks.

I have had the opportunity to stay at some wonderful hotels over the years, including some certainly more expensive than this one, but I can honestly say that I have never stayed at a better hotel. The gracious and outstanding service, the elegant public areas, the delicious and varied food and the outstanding rooms are all completely faultless. I was with a large group of colleagues and everyone I spoke with about the hotel agreed that it was superb and probably the best they had ever stayed at.
In particular, I found the hotel room to have absolutely everything I could want - beautiful decor, extremely comfortable bed and bedding, very quiet and tranquil atmosphere, and a the best hotel bathroom I have ever seen.

This hotel receives my very highest recommendation.

I stayed here for business and really enjoyed my stay. The service, food and rooms were great. We had a nice view of the pool. I liked being close enough to the attractions but not right in the middle of everything.
