“Great Hotel & Super Staff”
Reviewed 8 May 2013

We stayed at the hotel over the Easter Break for 8 nights. The staff were incredibly friendly and although the hotel was busy they made time to talk and make sure everything was as you wanted. Valet Staff were brilliant!

We ate in the Restaurant, Bar and Pool Restaurant and the service and food were all very good.

Lovely room which was well serviced. Welcome gifts were lovely.

Room Tip: Room overlooking the pool and golf course - lovely

When I drove up to the Valet, 2 valet were so busy talking to each other they ignored me. I parked my car and walked into the hotel to check-in. The room was the major problem. The WIFI hardly ever worked. You just couldn't get on to it. They waived the $9.99 charge. My alarm clock went off at 5 am the first morning. The TV reception was horrible. Most of the stations were digital, while only a few were HD. The engineer who designed the room stuck the air-conditioning control low on a corner where they designer of the room placed a desk, making it almost unreachable. Turn down service was not done till we called and requested it at 9:30 PM. The robe and towels were OK, but not luxurious. On the positive side the pool is nice and Norman's Restaurant is a very good. Overall, the hotel does not meet expectations of a luxury property.

Room Tip: Ask for pool view.

What a differnce in hotels adn people, after staying the "Palace" in Orlando a few weeks prior, the Ritz made up for all the shortcomings of the Palace and then some, the staff, the room quality and the food service was perfect. The shuttle to the golf course is extremely friendly. Overall this site gets a "10"

We stayed here for a weekend getaway for my Wife's birthday. We had a great time. The service was all that I expected and more. The grounds were beautiful, the service was outstanding. Our house keeper Irean was great with super little touches that made our stay even more enjoyable. She alway left anote asked what else she could do for us and was so very kind. She even gave us a small gift basket on our final evening and thanked us for staying. This was my first stay at a Ritz-Carlton and I will be staying again based on my experience.

The price was super as well. We stayed on a AAA rate with stay for breakfast. The price was half of the delux resorts at Disney. I would highly recommend including this with your stay. The breakfast buffet was wonderful with a wide variety of good healthy choices to eat with good high quality food. This buffet was worth the extra as it was good high quality food with great service. I wish I remembed the chef that cooked our eggs as he was very personable and always remembered me from day to day.

We recently stay at the Ritz. The staff is helpful; the rooms are lovely with comfortable beds. We had a small balcony on a higher floor. Large bathrooms, small showers. The hotel is connected thru their conference facilities with the JW Marriott so you can use their facilities and eat at their restaurants also. The Ritz pool is large with lots of chairs. Plenty of room on the day we did pool time as the weather was marginal.

If you do not have a car, be sure to check with the hotel for their scheduled transfers to the parks. They have service only twice each morning to the parks and twice each evening returning to the hotels (Ritz and JW). Reservations need to be made in advance. The transfer to Walt Disney World is actually to Epcot center where you tranfer to the monorail to WDW and then take another monorail to the entrance for the park. Plan about an hour from the hotel to the entrance to WDW. If you want to return on your own the taxi cost is high. ($27.00 from Universal Studios)

One potentially big problem we had -- we called to have very early wakeup service due an early flight. Actually the hotel was to call us twice just to make sure we were up. We didn't get a call. Fortunately out cell phone alarm worked. The hotel was having troubles with their wake-up system and gave us a credit for the inconvenience. We appreciated that but would have preferred knowing they had an issue and thanks goodness the phone alarm worked.

Hard ro fault anything at this great Ritz. They really have it all: great restaurants, great pool, great spa! A nice getaway from the theme park hustle. Beautiful property.

I was therefor busioness, and I must say that their event staff is maybe the nicest and most attentive of any place I hacve ever been. The concierge will address any need. No matter who you encounter, they go out of their way to fulfill your evry need.

We love the Grand Lakes Orlando! The pool is so big and sprawling, it's never a struggle to find a spot, as it is at so many other resorts. I recommend the late night room service menu--and the spa! It's the perfect adult getaway for your Disney trip.
