“Great vacation”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 May 2014

Westgate Lakes and Spa is great. We enjoyed our stay. There are plenty of amenities nearby, restaurants and the Disney parks. The Bell staff were great and greeted us as we walked in for check in. We really loved the private screened in balconies. Overall we would return again.

Room Tip: Ask for rooms in the remodeled buildings.

Clean,Quiet. Owners since 2008, we stay at least 1 wk/yr. It is a great income addition, if you can rent it out. Updates are on-going. We have never encountered any rudeness of some reviewers. Free bus transportation does lock you into specific return times. And they do have a hard time getting their sign-up lists in order. We have stayed in many different buildings and not had these issues stated by other reviewers. We had a dirty washer & garbage disposal problem once and they replaced both with new while we were out.

Room Tip: Building 80 quietest.500 steps to pool on flower-lined walkway.

We stated here mon 4/7 - fri 4/11.

Check in was great Mon. Everything else sucked.

After checking in, they send you to the VIP desk, where someone gives you a sealed welcome packet & voucher. They said we were required to sit for a 90 minute lunch presentation regarding time shares & had to leave a $20 deposit but get $75 for your time.

Upon entering our Studio Villa, we were quite disappointed. The room was poorly lit; old tube tv; leaky kitchen sink; top of the cabinet fell off in my hands; broken shower door; leaky toilet/flooded floor (I fell!); old/dirty showerhead; open soap in shower; 4 very noisy air conditioning units outside our window; took forever to find parking.

Tues we went for the "mandatory" presentation turned out to be 60 min gross breakfast that we didn't partake in. Immediately after we sat down with our coffee, a rep sat down & began her schpiel. We told her many times we were not going to buy. We gave her our list of complaints to which she responded "oh. This is nothing. The people before you had 2 pages of complaints!" She told us she was a single mother of 2 working 2 jobs - 1 as a sales rep at Westgate & 1 at Walmart. She told us the grounds were way too expensive & that we shouldn't buy anything there. That walmart down the road is cheaper. She told us so many negative things about the property, yet relentlessly tried selling us. She refused to take us for a tour due to slight rain. After 2 hours of us saying no, 2 other people tried convincing us to buy foreclosures on other properties - still sight unseen. It was awful, uncomfortable & extremely off putting. After that we made reservations for Wed am shuttle to Seaworld. Again at the end of the day we drove for at least an hour for parking.

Wed we went to get our boarding pass for the shuttle and our reservation wasn't there. We made sure to also make our reservations for thurs shuttle to Universal. Once we returned to the hotel after being out all day, we called the front desk to make the same complaints we had made Tuesday, as well as ask for pool towels, as housekeeping had neglected to leave us any. After a 30 min wait, we called again. My boyfriend spoke to a manager named Staci, who was an extremely rude & condescending twit. Not only did we readdress the complaints & expressed how unhappy we were w/the hotel thus far, but we had told her we wanted to try the pool but were still waiting for towels. After telling Staci that we would be out all day on thurs & checking out Friday am, she told us she would have to address this with engineering & would switch us to a 2 bedroom tomorrow. At 9pm wed, w/just one night to sleep before checking out, how is packing up & going to another room just to repack & check out going to help now? She said we had refused services & hung up on us.
That night we had to drive so long for parking that we ended up parking at the main pavilion & had to have security drive us back to our bldg. Found a broken fingernail tip in the bed btwn sheets!! (Poor housekeeping.)

Thurs morning, per security, we called the front desk for a ride back to the pavilion. They were super rude, reprimanding us that this service was not for our convenience & that we had to wait for the grounds shuttle. We complained about everything in the room - again- & finally someone came to get us. The driver who came for us told us that we did the right thing because the shuttle never really comes & when it does, it never stops to do pick ups. Oh. Again- our reservation for the shuttle to universal was not there. Upon returning, we went to the front desk to make our complaints again- wondering why nothing had been addressed or fixed the entire week we had been there complaining. Staci was there so we spoke to her. Things escalated to an extremely nasty, loud tone. She was again very rude, condescending & patronizing. She was saying how they are aware of the problems& are in the process of upgrading the units in other buildings & building a parking facility. She proceeded to say it was unfortunate that we were renting an older unit & kept saying they need to have engineering deal w/the situations. She did nothing to help us. She threatened to have security escort me out.

Fri am upon check out we spoke to another mgr who was equally patronizing, condescending & not helpful.

*No cable, no laundry services - unless you want to use their dirty old machines to do your own. Ticket desk refused to sell us 1day ticket to Universal/ tix turned out cheaper buying them thru Universal directly. Fraudulent place in every way!! WORST hotel experience of my life!

Room Tip: Here's a tip.... Stay somewhere else. This place is terrible!!!!!!

We appreciate your responses concerning your stay with us. Our guests are invited to a timeshare tour presentation to learn about the benefits and advantages of vacation ownership. In return our guests are offered free gifts or breakfast in exchange for their time. The minimum time for our presentation is 90 minutes and may last longer depending on your interaction with our sales team. The attendance for the timeshare tour is not obligatory.

We take pride in our service and strive to reach perfection so your experience was certainly the exception and not normal. Your feedback will help us to improve and allow future guests a better experience. Please understand that our units are still currently undergoing maintenance and may longer than usual. We have taken note of each issue and look forward to exceeding your expectations on a future stay.

We stayed here last Aug. for a week. We booked a room with a jacuzzi tub and when we got there all we had was a shower. Our bed had a window over it with only a blind so the sun came blazing in at the crack of dawn. Our room was very close to the highway but if you werent on the balcony you didnt here it. There was a pool behind the smokehouse that no one ever used that was close to the room so that was nice. The time share speech was a waste of time. The parks are all within a 20 mins drive

We travelled by car to stay and arrived at westgate. Upon arrival things looked great----once we checked in with the front desk----everything went down hill after that. Did not go on vacation to purchase a timeshare----after checking in the man at the front desk made us believe he was taking us to the customer service, ya----this women started with her speech----trying to get us to buy a timeshare----we said not interested, she just continued----would not take no for an answer. We had to walk away. Customer service went down hill from there. They were supposed to have housekeeping in our room----that is what we paid for. We called the front desk several times----sending someone. We left for Disney for the day came back beds unmade and did not have clean towels. We had booked for 4 nights---left after 3 nights----could not stand how they treated us----booked into a hampton inn for the 4th night. I advised we were not happy but they just could not careless. This place----I am sorry but after a long way to arrive to this----what a disappointment!!!!

This hotel is in a fantastic location, I couldn't be more pleased about how we drove 5-10 to any of the parks. Customer service is lacking, to me and being at a resort that is supposed to be nice customer service is everything. The lack of the employees caring of the guests (thats right I say guests) is very unprofessional. The employee that seems to hate her job at the activities center needs to have her attitude checked. Rooms were just as bad, very outdated with patio furniture made out of PVC pipe. Inside the rooms smelled like mold and very old despite the granite counter tops. Worst vacation that I have had.

We are current Westgate Owners and were before we decided to stay at Westgate Lakes. We were excited about using our timeshare for the first time. We booked our room less than 30 days out, just as we were told. We were downgraded to a smaller room because we called within the 30 days. When we arrived we were in awe of how beautiful the resort was. Upon actually getting into our room, we were unhappy. The sleeper sofa, which we had to use since we didn't get the larger room that we were supposed to get, was filthy. My children would not be sleeping on a dirty mattress. I had my baby in the tub giving her a bath. The cover for the filter fell off and I had to take my daughter out of the tub immediately. It was gross! There was hair and dirt in it that came loose into the bath water!! We called the manager and were moved into another room that was smaller than what we purchased. This room just was not big enough for our family. Finally that same night they moved us into one final room. It was still not the room we purchased but it was clean and was big enough for us to fit into. Unfortunately, we had another issue with house keeping at the end of our trip.

The resort is a great place to stay overall, and if we plan another trip to Orlando, we may stay there again. The activities are great as well as all the free things for owners. We enjoyed staying busy with lots to do and eat right there on the resort property. For the most part, all the staff were friendly and helpful. I was simply disappointed to spend that sort of money on a time share to find it dirty like you would a regular hotel room.
