Reviewed 1 June 2014

Florida, especially in the summer has a scattered storm go through EVERY afternoon. I used to live here and I knew this. However they are scattered as in north orlando may be raining and south orlando not. Westgate will shut the pool down whenever there is a storm in the area, which as I stated above is every afternoon through the summer. This was confirmed by an employee, almost everyday in the afternoon the pool will be closed. Yesterday it was for 2 hours today it's has been over 3 and counting. We decided to take a drive and all other hotel waterparks in the area were opened. I get safety but it's going a little to far as many other area pools and waterparks remained open. It hasn't even rained here in over 2 hours. Also don't buy a frozen drink from bar as it is very, very weak.

Everything else is cool. Our 2 BR condo is nice with a great bed, bath and shower. It's a little dated but that's no big deal as I'm only here for a few nights. Staff is friendly and helpful. Timeshare tour wasn't as stressful as some have mentioned but it was longer than advertised. However (2) free tix to universal made it worthwhile. It wasn't a bad deal to buy in however we passed. Overall good but probably would look elsewhere next time. Pool is a big part of vacation which keeps it a 3 star versus 4.

Room Tip: Be polite, smile and just ask! We checked in 4 and a half hours early and got an upgrade.

We are honored you chose to stay with us at Westgate Lakes Resort and Spa. We offer the perfect place for those wanting to get away and vacation in Orlando. Please be advised that the only time our pools are closed is due to incoming inclement weather in the area. The reason for this is to ensure the safety of our guests. Once the weather is cleared up guests are able to resume their activity at the pool. No changes have been made to our pool hours. Your concern and feedback is vital. We invite you back, and hope to see you again very soon.

We stayed here for three nights through my girlfriend's grandma's timeshare exchange before our cruise out of Miami because she has family in Orlando that we wanted to see and we wanted to go to Clearwater (less than two hours away). The room was impeccable. I don't know what some of the other reviewers are complaining about, unless they have only been able to update some of their rooms. There are so many amenities here and we sadly did not get to explore most of them because we were visiting with her family and going to the beach.

The only negatives I can think of would be that check in was a tad chaotic and I had to wait for one of the concierges to get done with some ridiculous customers before I could get a bellhop to help me. Also, the pool bars close early and I wasn't able to try them. But I made up for it in the Bahamas!

We hardly left the resort, even though it is very close to the theme parks. Very comfortable beds with fabulous linens, huge jaccuzzis, full size laundry equipment, adequate kitchen, large balconies, clean villas. The only negatives I saw were not deal breakers for us: grills were charcoal rather than gas, no coffee filters were provided, the TV remotes didn't work, DVD player only in living room, and the decor was a tad dated. But the scenery was fabulous for a shutterbug like me, lots of waterfowl, lots of room to wander around, lots of activities to do, landscaping was gorgeous, pools were conveniently close to every building but the music was a tad too loud at the pools. I was amazed at how little we heard noise once we were inside the rooms, though. The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable, and access to highways and grocery stores was great.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the small ponds if you enjoy the waterfowl.

The grounds, property common areas and rooms are very clean. The hot water was intermittent the first few days and then there was a hand written note on a scrap of paper left in the door that it was corrected one night before we left. I saved the unsigned note. The balconies are screened in and the kitchen fully furnished. I never got the dvd players to work but it could have been a lack of instructions. The bars opened late and closed early. The restaurant was adequate but the bartenders were attentive. There was security all day and night. We had no complaints about the staff like I read before hand. A void the sales staff and presentation though at all costs. I wll not return overall.

The resort overall was nice but the room was small and attached to another. We could hear "everything" going on in the next room. The room was a one bedroom with a kitchen, livingroom and bathroom with a whirlpool tub. It was clean but the room was adjacent to the street and I could hear everything. The view that was promised should have been a lake view with a enclosed balcony.

Room Tip: Request a room with a lake view or pool view.

A nice resort to stay over a weekend with many pools, a small lake on the property with boat rentals, tennis courts and gym. On a whole I liked it. Double check with the front desk, when making your reservations through 3rd party sites. Basically they have same unit with different amenities. Eg: 1 king suite - with Jacuzzi small kitchen or 1 king suite - no Jacuzzi but big condo style kitchen. Usually in 3rd party sites, they are combining all the amenities under 1 king suite. So make sure of that before reserving or before checking in.
Also we stayed over the Memorial weekend, and its fully occupied and thus had difficulties in finding parking lots. The staff is really helpful in assisting and guiding us to the extra parking lots they near our blocks.
Would recommend updating the furniture and other interior of the rooms, as they are too old and outdated.

Room Tip: Don't get misled by pictures, contact the front directly and make sure that u will get the room...

Wound up here on a Priceline deal. Just remember that the resort fee will apply no matter how you cut it at check in.

The property is huge. Several complexes stretching out into the lake. They could of spared room for a few more elevators or at least one larger elevator. Five people, maybe six tops per car, and we were about 15 people deep in line to take the ride up.

Rooms are in good shape, probably ten years old or less. Definite time share vibe everywhere you look.

If you are focused on amenities and have a couple kids with you, this place could be great. If you just need a bed for a night or two, you may be overpaying.

Thank you for visiting us! The resort fee includes access to Wi-Fi for one device, some amenities and to cover the cost of equipment rental. We will certainly share your review with our staff, as we are always looking for areas to improve. Come back to see us again when you’re in the Orlando area.
