“Excellent Anniversary”
Reviewed 5 August 2014

If you would like to live like in the 60's this is a great opportunity to feel like back in time. Decor, Floor, Rooms and Building design makes that experience better and of course, a bowling alley in the same hotel!.. just the beginning. The pool on the American Building is where anyone would like to spend the entire day just going by the pool river currents.
Not mention the hotel have their own shuttle service to the Universal City Walk 6am-2am
Just in the heart of Universal with access to everywhere, I4, Universal Bv, International Drive,
20 mins from Orlando Airport!. by 528 S then I4 East 10 minutes ahead down at Unversal Bv, Left, then at Holywood Bv, Left Then 3rd stop light at Adventure Bv Hotel is on the right.
Easy to get there.

I really enjoy my 8th anniversary with my lovely wife.

Hope you find this useful and enjoy the same as we do.

New hotel, cool early 60's resort theme and music, shuttle ran continuously to and from the park, the open "food court" with giant TV's. Only complaints are that they need more staff for check-ins--waited about 30 minutes in line, and there was a major disruption with the satellite tv service throughout the hotel for hours one day during the world cup championship games.

I have mixed feelings about this hotel. It is definitely a cute, unique concept and it is nice that the suites can sleep 6 people. If going to Universal Studios, it is nice to be able to stay so close at a reasonable price (although you do NOT get the Universal Express passes that the three other "on site" hotels get). The pools are nice and the full service bars attached to each pool rival much more expensive hotels in terms of quality of drinks and service. The bowling alley is beautiful and there is a nice arcade for the kids. So what were the issues? Well, the bowling alley is very small for such a large hotel (and if you want to use it, don't forget socks - they will be sold out in the shops and you can't bowl without socks). There will be a wait to bowl. Reservations to bowl are not accepted. The one Starbucks will have a HUGE line in the morning so plan ahead if you want to get coffee there. There are no full service restaurants on site so you either have to eat fast food morning, noon, and night or leave the hotel for food. There is no complimentary transportation between this hotel and the other three, so going to eat at one of those hotels requires either driving yourself or taking a bus to the main entrance to universal, going through security, and then walking or taking the boat to the hotels (and then reversing that to get back to this hotel). There is simply not enough parking. There is a hidden parking deck on the far side of the tower (we never found it), but not enough convenient parking if you are staying on the motel side. If you want to use the lazy river, either bring your own tube or bring money to buy one because there are none for use while you stay at the hotel. There is supposed to be a walkway to city walk and the parks, but as of this review, it was not open even though the website claims they have it. You can cross a busy street and walk along a very dark sidewalk at the moment or take that lovely shuttle bus to the main entrance to city walk/the parks and wait with the masses in the long security lines. Because of all of this, I doubt I would ever stay here again, but I do have relatively high expectations in my hotel stays. I would rather pay a hundred dollars more and stay at the Royal Pacific. I guess for what they charge, if affordability is your main concern, this isn't a bad place to stay. Just understand that you get what you pay for. Oh, by the way, Courtyard room does not mean a view of a courtyard. It means you are on the motel side. Tower means you are in a hotel type building. Cheap rooms in the "tower" face the interstate. Cheap rooms in the "Courtyard" mean you face the parking lot (better). The rooms all look the same - the only difference is if you have interior hallways or not.

They basically ment well when they built this place, but..... Parking stinks, you pay $10.00 per night, in an enclosed, gated area, with a keyosk that is a nightmare to navagate, so getting out was a drag, getting to the main building is a very long haul, be very careful leaving the resort, poor signage, you could end up miles south on I-4, and do not plan on check-in prior to 4PM, cuz it ain't gonna happen, no alcohol allowed in your rooms, food is over priced, rooms are retro and cool, will likely never stay there again... There, now I feel better.......

Room Tip: Just find another hotel!!!!!!

We stayed at CBBR for 3 nights in August after staying at Portofino Bay for one night. We stayed at Portofino to get the Express Pass for 2 days at the parks. CBBR is cheaper, but you only get early admission. We were staying with family from Florida, so we received the Florida resident rate-big plus for residents-it would have cost us an extra $100 a night. We had 6 people in a family suite which overlooked the parking lot (Florida resident rate rooms)-but hey we were able to check in at 10am. Parking costs $10 a day here. There was not enough parking at night. Back to the rooms. Built motel style, so all the rooms are outside with either a pool view, or other. 2 Queen beds, kitchenette, pull-out couch. It was a little tight, but functional. I liked that the shower and toilet area had separate doors, but the vanity area is lacking privacy-should have a pull out screen or something. Dining was cafeteria style. Long lines to get the food and to pay. Hotel wasn't anywhere near capacity and they did not have enough help. My kids loved the pool. We were able to bring in a cooler with our own drinks and nobody bothered us. We didn't go to the pool with the lazy river because we found out you had to pay to buy tubes. Really? Unlike the other hotels on the Universal property, this one you could only take a bus to and from the park. This hotel is not a Loews-owned site and it's fairly new, so hopefully they can get the kinks worked out. Good: Still expensive "value" priced hotel with the early admission perk. Retro vibe was nostalgic and fun. Rooms were clean. Pool area was fabulous. Bad: Pay to park your car, overpriced, mediocre-tasting cafeteria food, long lines in cafeteria, $$ to buy tubes on lazy river

First time staying on property at Universal. Decided to try their new hotel. Rooms were huge, and having 2 tvs was a bonus. We had 2 suites poolside. They played movies by the pool at night. There was plenty for the kids to do. 2 swimming pools, a waterslide,a lazy river, and a bowling alley. There was also a game room that the kids enjoyed. We will definitely be coming back!

Our family of four stayed here five nights as we visited Universal Studios and SeaWorld. Staying at CBBR is like taking a time capsule to the late fifties/early sixties with today's amenities and conveniences. We had a great time there and didn't feel the need to leave the resort much at all. The modern pools were fabulous and very relaxing. Nightly movies are shown at both pools which are great family fun. There is a bowling alley and extensive work out area plus an arcade and very large dining facility where the food was very good. The building and furniture design remind me of my early childhood. I thought the value was excellent and we encountered no issues. We checked in very late so there were no crowds and we got our room preference. Checkout time was very busy but we avoided all that with express checkout. You do have to buy the rafts for the lazy river/pool which seemed petty but one departing guest left us one and we paid it forward to another guest. The shuttles to Universal worked great, but the one to SeaWorld didn't show up.

Room Tip: We liked to stay on the ground floor to avoid waiting on the elevator.
