“We didn't want to leave!!!”
Reviewed 20 May 2012

Not sure where to start, everything about this hotel was so great! Driving into Saratoga Springs, we were greeted with a "welcome home" from the security on the gate which set the scene for our whole holiday. We were very impressed on the drive up at the sheer scale and size of the place, which I know others have complained about but we loved - it had a real resort 'feel' about it. Check in was fabulous and my husband and I were so impressed. Lemar, our check-in cast member was excellent with our girls (aged 5 and 9) and spent a lot of time with us making sure we were 100% happy. He treated the girls like princesses from the off and really got our holiday here off to the best start possible. We stayed in the Grandstand section. I had thought long and hard about requesting a specific section but decided against it because there were so many conflicting opinions on which was best that I couldn't decide and thought I would leave it to Disney to decide for us! I'm so pleased we did - my own opinion is that the Grandstand is the best! This is of course subjective because I don't actualy think there is a section that is the 'worst' as each has its own merits. The Grandstand has its own (smaller and quieter) pool and bar and is the first pick up and drop off for the transportation. It's literally a five minute walk at most to the main pool and carriage house. We were also able to walk to and from Downtown Disney in about 20 mins with the kids, even though it is further away than most of the other sections. Transportation was so good. Buses to and fro were very regular and the most we waited was 10 mins tops although moslty the buses were every few minutes to the different parks. There was also a boat to Downtown Disney which was fun for the kids. Our room was fabulous - we opted for a deluxe studio because I had no intentions of doing any cooking or laundry while we were there so did not need a full kitchen that the 1 or 2 bedroom offers. The studio had everthing we needed and the 4 of us had plenty of room, although the kids are only 5 and 9 so it may not suit families with teenagers. We had a kitchenette with full sized fridge, microwave, coffee machine, toaster etc with plates, cutlery, cups etc. We also had fresh coffee left every day. The studio was very clean and well kept. Not being DVC members, we had full maid service every day - I believe with DVC, maid service is every few days. View was fantastic, overlooking the golf course and sunset/sunrise. We would 100% stay in a sudio again. The pools were great fun, the main pool had games for the kids and a couple of slides as well as a splash zone - the kids (and us!) loved it! There was also a full programme of childrens activities all day, every day at the pools and in the community hall from parties to ice-cream making, to badge-making, pottery painting, movies by the pool every night, campires and marshmallow roasting etc, etc. This was our 3rd trip to Orlando in 3 years and we spent much more time at the resort than our previous trips becuase there was so much to do! We were on the Disney Dining Plan which came free with our package and in my opinion is a fantastic addition, we would probably not consider going again without it especially as we had a free refillable mug which we could use for any non-alcoholic drinks in resort. We ate at both the Turf Club restaurant and the Artist Pallette counter service. The Turf Club food was fine although not the best we had while we were in Orlando. The Artist Pallette was nice and really handy. Some have complained there is not enough food choice or it wasn't big enough and perhaps our expections were not as high but we found it totally adequate, serving flatbreads, pizzas, hot and cold sandwiches (must try the smoked turkey, brie and canberry!), chicken bites, breakfast platters, pastries, muffins......and the list goes on.

Overall we felt completely at home here. We met some lovely, lovely people from all over the world and the staff, without exception, were great. It was our first time staying in a Disney resort, our previous trips in Orlando we stayed on I Drive. We are totally converted to staying at Disney now, it is 100% worth the extra money. In fact, despite just getting back home to Northern Ireland yesterday, we have already booked to go back for 2 weeks over Christmas!!!

Room Tip: If you want to be closer to Downtown Disney, ask for the Springs section. The Granstand is first pi...

At first we were excited about the size of the room yet a little distracted with getting to the parks on our mind. The bell hops were nice and prompt, the person we spoke to at the front desk was very nice but we had a rude and ill informed worker in the restaurant "Artists Pallette". We were not informed when we arrived there was construction going on, had they let us know we would've changed buildings. We let all of it go until our last night when we were informed of a water outage for several hours in our building which we were returning from the pool and had to wait to shower. The manager nicely apologized. That's it! He couldn't comp us meals as it was after dinner and we were catching a flight home before breakfast the next morning. I think a refund for the night or at least a discount would've sufficed. He gave us the vibe of, well you've already payed, kind of not my problem. Needless to say, we will not choose this resort on future Disney stays.

This was our first stay at Saratoga Springs. We were pleasantly surprised at the sweet decor, spaciousness of the room, and close proximity to Downtown Disney. We stayed the week of Thanksgiving 2011. The check-in did take a little longer than expected, but I think a Magical Express bus had just let off. We had a Deluxe Studio in Congress Park. I really liked the secluded feel of this section. It would have been a little long to walk to the Main Hall, but we drove or took a bus if we needed anything. The food court and gift shop are sufficient. What we really loved were the little things that came with staying at a deluxe resort: nightly movies by the pool, a marshmallow roast at night, complimentary movie and game rentals (big hit!). All of these things made it seem a little like home. Will definitely stay many more times! A side note: because of availability, we stayed our last night (few hours really) at an All-Star Resort, which we have stayed at before. Staying at ssr and then at the all stars, you can see the little touches that make a deluxe resort that much better (even down to the plushness of toilet paper) :) if you can afford it, a deluxe resort is far better!

We stayed in a two bedroom villa and it was great! This was our first stay at disney vacation club property and we were very impressed. The rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable. I did find alot of review helpful before we booked, so I knew what/where to request when we booked. The pool areas are a nice size, never had a problem with finding a chair or shade. I don't know how busy it was the time of year we went (April 12-18), but we never encountered a problem with crowds. The staff at this resort was great, everyone from the concierge desk to the bartender at the pool to the servers in the restaurants were always helpful and friendly.

The food at this resort was decent - we didn't eat there too often, but breakfast and lunch was good and the kids loved getting their deserts with each meal (we had basic dining plan).

Room Tip: We stayed at The Grandstand and it was in walking distance to main lobby and quick service meals as...

Our family of 4 (kids age 3 and age 9 months) stayed in a studio villa. It ended up being just perfect for us. The room was nice and clean, the view from the balcony was of a lake. The kitchenette was just enough room for me to prepare and wash bottles.

We were in the Paddock in the very last building. We could see the Congress Park bus stop from our building. It was an easy walk to that bus stop and then just a short walk over to the Carriage House (registration) and Artist's Palette. At the other end of The Paddock is The Paddock Grill which is located by the pool. You won't get cheeseburgers at Artist's Palette, but you can at the Paddock Grill. We liked the food at both locations. The Paddock Grill is all outside seating.

It is a short and quiet stroll over to Downtown Disney, or a short boat ride. We really enjoy staying at resorts that offer more than one mode of transportation.

The theme is carried out here, and it is really is a very nice resort. This is the first time we have stayed at a Disney Vacation Club Resort. We have been staying in the Value and Moderate resorts. It was really really nice that each building has its own parking. You are not stuck hauling all your gear half way across the resort. And I noticed, in most buildings here, that there were no balconies overlooking the parking lots. Some may have had a view of the parking lot or road, but also of something else more pleasant.

In the evenings we would stop by the Community Hall and rent some kids movies that we would let the girls watch while we got them ready for bed, and again in the morning while they waited for us to get ready to get everyone out the door. At Community Hall there are color pages that my 3 year old would color while we browsed the DVD inventory. They also have crafts like ceramics and other things that they do there if you want a chill out day away from the parks.

Check in was quick and easy, we were offered help getting our stuff to our room, and we accepted. We drive to Disney World, so we pack everything when we have a baby with us. We had help getting out of the room for check out too. Everyone that we came in contact with was just so nice and helpful.

FYI, the Congress Park bus stop is second to last. If you are there during a busy time you may find the bus quite crowded. And even more crowded if you are using the last stop, The Springs. There are downsides to staying close to the Carriage House, full buses! There are 4 or 5 stops total.

We will stay here again.

Room Tip: The Paddock is not as remote as you may think, get a room close to Congress Park and use that bus st...

We just got back from a six night stay at Saratoga Springs. My family of five along with my parents stayed in a two bedroom villa in the Springs section. This was our second stay here and it was wonderful. The villa was large enough to fit the seven of us wihtout any of us feeling cramped. It was great having a kitchen to make breakfast in the morning before heading to the parks. It was also a great convenience having a washer and dryer right in our room. We visited the main poll once as my children favored visiting the newer, less crowded Paddock pool. It was a quick walk over a bridge from our room to the pool. It as neat seeing the fish and turtles in the lake. We did walk to Downtown Disney one night and thought the walk was not bad at all from our location. It took about 10-15 mnutes to get there. Yes its a large resort but not impossible to navigate. We did not use the buses as we drove our own car to the parks. Getting to the parks is easy. I would have to say the furtherst park would have to be Animal Kingdom - we seemed to get to the others in about ten minutes or less. My only complaint about this resort would have to be the food court. There is not a huge selection and the food that they do offer didn't appeal to me. I did have the pepperoni flatbread and that was good. It would be nice to have a bigger variety of food options like they have at the value resorts food courts. This was a great stay and I would definitely recommend Saratoga Springs.
