I think this is one of the most affordable options to have a full kitchen within the disney complex. They maintain the room clean and tidy, they have a pretty good shop where you can buy supplies everyday. Friendly staff, spacious room. Saw always people waiting a lot in the bus stop, so would recomend having a car. Location is far from parks - closest to Downtown though, you can take a ferry to downtown.

Upon check in I told the person that checked us in, that due to my physical condition & age that we needed to be 1, close to the pool, 2. CLOSE to the elevator. He yesed me to death saying OK, & we could park right in front of our room. We drove to the building, no one told us we needed to call a bell hop to get our bags to the rooms. The building was near a smaller pool, I thought it would be near the main pool for the children to enjoy, BUT NO we were 3/4 of a mile away from the main pool, not to mention that we did not have access to the loby or the food store unless we walked or drove 3/4 of a mile to get there.
I must say the rooms were very nice, but way out of the way. We called & asked to change our rooms or the resort with no luck to improve on our TERRIBLE location.
That front desk clerk should stop trying to be so nice & learn a little more about the lay out of the resort.
I will never stay there again. I am also advising that we sell our Disney Vacation Points.
A similar situation happened to us at The BoardWalk a few years ago. We needed a wheelchair just to get to our room from the elevator. That is why I was very specific with the clerk at Saratoga.

First year as Disney vacation club members and stayed in Saratoga Springs. Wow - what a resort. Staff, cleanliness, golf, you name it - 5 star. I have been to many so called five start resorts but in my view Disney just do it so much better than anyone else.

Room Tip: Go to the Treehouse Villas - Amazing!

Stayed at the Paddock section in a Studio room, 2nd floor. Room was very clean & housekeeping did a great job every day.
Pools were great. We visited the Paddock pool the most & the kids activites were great, my son loved it (I think more than the parks!).
Only negatives were the bar area (very small ) & the food in the artists pallette. The childrens meals were awful, 3 chicken nuggets with crips or a bag of grapes.
It is a very large resort, but walking round the grounds is lovely, seen many lizards, snakes, frogs, rabbits & ducks around!
Bus service no problem, never waited more than 15 minutes at either park or resort, although the air con is freezing at night! Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

My wife and I just returned home after spending 5 nights at Saratoga Springs Resort. We stayed in a beautiful, recently renovated studio in the Congress Park area of the resort. We've stayed at many Disney resorts in the past, both as vacation club members and as the paying public, and here are our observations about Saratoga Springs:

1. The resort is quite large. If proximity to the main check-in area (The Carriage House) is a priority for you, you'll have to note that when you make your reservation. You'll probably want to stay in The Springs. The Carriage House also has most of the dining options inside the resort.

2. The rooms in Congress Park have either been recently renovated or are still in the process of being renovated. We had a newly renovated room, and there was still a new carpet smell in the room. Since we have never stayed in the older rooms, I can't comment about how they changed the decor. The room was very nice, with the typical mini-kitchen found in Disney's studio villas.

3. Congress Park is the closest of all the resort areas to Downtown Disney. It took us about 7 minutes or so to walk there from our room. If you're not in the Congress Park area, you can still make your way over there on foot, but it will take longer. Some have mentioned taking the boat from The Carriage House to Downtown Disney, but the boats stop running when the weather is bad (i.e. thunder and lightning). Unfortunately for us, there were a LOT of thunderstorms during our stay, which shut the boats down several times.

4. The pool area at Congress Park is very basic - just a pool and a single spa. As a result, there weren't many children using the pool in the Congress Park area during our stay. If you're traveling with small children, the pools at The Springs and The Paddock have many more water slides and other fun things for the kids. At Congress Park, we adults mostly had the pool to ourselves.

5. We won't stay here again without a car. We like to get to the parks early in the morning, and we just couldn't do it, no matter how early we went to the bus stop. The buses either arrive full of people or don't come at all. We tried to get to morning extra magic hours at one of the parks one morning, and we arrived at the bus stop at 7:30AM. There was a large group already there, and they had already been waiting for 45 minutes on a bus to the same park. Finally, at 7:45AM, the first bus arrived. Of course, only a small fraction of the people waiting for that bus were able to board.

Since Saratoga Springs isn't very close to any of the parks, you will spend a lot of time on the buses every day if you don't have a car. If you plan to spend significant amounts of time at either the Magic Kingdom or Animal Kingdom, you'll spend even more time on the bus, as those two parks are even farther from the resort than either EPCOT or Hollywood Studios.

One possible solution to the bus problem might be to request a room in The Grandstand area of the resort. Buses coming from any of the theme parks stop at The Grandstand first, and you might have better luck getting on a bus there.

Overall, we enjoyed our stay. The recently renovated room in Congress Park was clean and comfortable. The pool area was quiet and usually empty, and we never had any trouble finding chairs. The only drawbacks were the location in relation to the theme parks and the reliability of the buses.

I had read a review stating that they had checked into a room that was just painted, new carpets, new bedding, and the couch reupholstered. I also read reviews that Saratoga Springs Resort rooms were a bit out dated & worn out. So between the two of those statements I did research. I found out that SSR is taking all 5 sections & updating them about 2-4 months each starting with Congress Park, going in a counter-clockwise fashion. Now I have some decisions to make, do I request a room that is convenient to the main building that houses the restaurants and main pool, convenient to bus system, or updated room? Part of the deciding factor is that we drive to WDW on our trips (which are many). This leaves me to my number one choice which is to have a new cleaner updated room because I have all the conveniences necessary with the use of a car, so Congress Park here we come (the newer rooms are in a nice forest green color scheme). This should be part of your decision making as well:
-Convenient to Main Building & Main Pool – The Springs
-Convenient usage of Bus System – The Grandstands
-Updated Rooms – Congress Park (for now, but by the end of 2013 all will be updated)

Noteworthy items on our Room & Stay:
-We (2 adults) stayed in the 1 room Studio with a King Size Bed, there was plenty of floor space for a Pac-N-Play, and/or pull-out couch.
-Kitchenette has a 2 slot toaster (wide enough to fit bagels), a full size coffee pot (can bring your own coffee, just make sure to bring filters too), good working mini fridge & ours got cold enough to freeze Gatorade - so I’m thinking small containers of ice-cream would keep, and paper plates, bowls & plastic ware
-My husband decided he wanted to head over to Down Town Disney after dinner, since we had our car we drove over. That didn’t work out so well. The parking lots were FULL. So after driving around a couple of times, we went back to our hotel, parked over off of Golf Drive (near the tennis courts) and took the ferry over – highly recommend.
-Pools are salt water (doesn’t mean as salty as ocean) which is really nice – less harsh on swimsuits, blonds don’t come out green, & you can stay in the water longer (doesn’t dry out skin & turn you into a prune), the spa is chlorinated though
-We never heard our neighbors; it was a lot quieter than the other Disney Resorts we have stayed at. Its Disney so you expect children running yelling & playing in the hallways & rooms, we head nothing.

We will be back, enjoyed everything here at The Saratoga Springs Resort.
