“Overall a great Disney Property”
Reviewed 24 December 2013

We stayed here with Family in a 2 bedroom room, on vacation club points for a short stay in the Orlando area. We usually try to stay at the Animal Kingdom Lodge, but it was completely full, so we decided to give this place a shot. The proximity to Downtown Disney seemed like a huge bonus, so we chose Saratoga Springs.
First let me talk about what we liked. The 2 bedroom suite was roomy and nice. We really like the size and flexibility as there were 6 of us total staying here. The room was clean, and well kept. The pool area was a great seller for this hotel. It had multiple jacuzzis as well as a zero entry pool, with a waterslide, that was still plenty warm enough to swim in, even in a warm December in Orlando. The kiddie splash area was also an added plus for our 2 year old.
While I hate to complain about a pretty nice property, unfortunately there were a few things that weren't great. First was the check in process. It seemed like for whatever reason, all of the people working the desk were being trained as they all had "earning our ears" tags on their name badges. My reservation should have just been an ordinary one, but I stood and waited at the check in counter for over 30 minutes. I know the Magicband thing is somewhat new, but holy Lord! Should not have taken that long.
Secondly, the resort is extremely large, which makes doing just about anything there, a bit inconvenient. We'd have to drive to the pool, and it's proximity to Downtown Disney didn't really prove to be a perk, as in order to get there, you'd still have to take a bus, or a ferry. While the bus stop was close to the buildings, the ferry was a long way away from our building which meant walking a pretty long way to get to it. There is a path where you can walk to the Disney West Side, but even that is a good 15 minute walk...not exactly convenient.
The layout of the bathroom in the main room of the suite is one of the strangest I've ever seen. There is a sink and bathtub in the master bed room, and then a door that leads to the rest of the bathroom. In there, there's a shower and a sink, and 2 other doors, 1 leading to a room with just the toilet, and one leading into the main living area of the room...Being that we had people using the pull out sofa in that room, it was weird trying to use the bathroom and maintain a sense of privacy.
I've complained about this for a while, but it seems to fall on deaf ears with Disney, is that the beds are far too firm, and uncomfortable. If you like a firm bed, then go for it...but I prefer something softer, and I've never been a fan of their beds.
Lastly, on our last day there at about 9am, a maid came to the door and asked us when we'd be leaving. It wasn't a problem, but it was kind of tacky considering we were in the middle of packing our stuff to check out at 11am.
Overall, it was a good stay. It wouldn't be my first choice for a stay at Disney, but I could do it again. Just know that some of the perks on the outside, aren't as great as they'd seem.

Room Tip: I would try to select a building closer to the main pool and restaurants. Not only will you be clos...

We stayed at Saratoga Springs for 2 nights. We made reservations for a room for 4 adults. When we arrived to the room, there was one queen bed and a pull out sofa sleeper. The sofa sleeper had a mattress that was less than comfortable for 2 adults, very thin "mattress" and no support. Since the reservations were for 4 adults I would have thought they would have told us about the sofa sleeper ahead of time. The room was clean, but the air conditioner wasn't working. Maintenance was quick to respond. For the cost of the room we shouldn't have had to make that call in the 1st place. The grounds were well kept and pretty and if you like being close to Downtown Disney, this is a perfect location. We will not most likely stay here again.

Just spent 5 nights at the Saratoga Springs Resort. We haven't stayed there for a few years but it is still just as nice as it was as well as maintained in like new condition. Construction in the Marketplace parking lot made it difficult to park but from Saratoga springs it is a short walk.

My husband and I travelled with our 2 year old son to Saratoga Springs and I have to say, we loved every moment of our stay.

It was the first trip to Walt Disney World for our son and we chose Saratoga Springs for a few reasons: we wanted to stay on Disney property, the included transportation to the Disney parks and Downtown Disney, and the amount of space in the villa. It didn't disappoint on any count.

Before we travelled, we had requested a room on a higher floor, in the Grandstand area after speaking with someone who had stayed there before. Both requests were granted and we were on the 4th floor in Grandstand. The location was absolutely PERFECT. We were less than 5 minute walk to the Carriage House, Artist's Pallette, the Springs pool and the boat transportation to Downtown Disney, a couple of minutes' walk to the Grandstand bus stop and steps away from the Grandstand quiet pool. Absolutely ideal.

The villa itself was great. We had a one bedroom, and so had plenty of space to live in. We ordered some items from Garden Grocer which were delivered to the hotel, so we made breakfast every morning before heading off to the parks. The kitchen was well equipped with everything we needed, and everything was in good working order. The villa itself was clean and well maintained, and housekeeping came every day and replenished items such as laundry detergent and washing up liquid (found it very handy to have a washer/dryer). We liked having a separate living area so when our son had gone to sleep in the bedroom after a busy day, we were able to watch some tv or read and unwind in the living area, without disturbing him. We found it very peaceful, and were never disturbed by any outside noise or noise from other guests.

Happily, we found the buses to be absolutely fantastic. I think a big part of that, was staying in the Grandstand area. It was the first stop going to the parks (the order was Grandstand, Carousel, Paddock, Congress Park and The Springs) so always had a seat, and first to be dropped off coming back from the parks after a long, tiring day. The time from the resort to the parks averaged around 10-15 minutes, and we were always dropped off within a couple of minutes' walk from the entrance to whichever park we were going to. The longest we had to wait for a bus one morning was 20 minutes (the buses are supposed to run every 20 minutes anyway) and every other time, they were much sooner. We had similar experiences coming back from the parks, and never felt at any point like we would have been better off with a car. We only used the boat transportation a couple of times to go across to Downtown Disney, and found it a nice and peaceful way to head over. Again, we never had to wait very long for the boat.

We didn't have many meals at the resort, as there are so many fantastic places to eat across Walt Disney World. We had breakfast once to use up a counter service credit, and found it to be good. We also tried a turkey club wrap there which we enjoyed, but we weren't a fan of the meatloaf, which we found rather salty.

I know for some people, the resort doesn't feel 'Disney' enough, in that the theming is very understated. Well for me, the 'Disney feel' comes from the staff. Everyone we encountered made us feel so welcome, and were so helpful and kind. From when we checked in, and our boy was given a '1st trip' badge and Mickey balloon, to housekeeping who made a Mickey with towels and left it on the bed as well as tucking in our son's toys in his bed, to the chatty and helpful cashier in the store (which is very handy for basics like bread, milk and snacks) to the guy who actually took us all the way to Downtown Disney in one of the golf carts with our cases, so we could do a morning check in for our flight home, to the lovely lady on reception when we checked out who nearly made me cry with her kind words...every single one of them made our trip just that little bit more special.

I can't speak more highly of Saratoga Springs Resort. We are already planning when we can return!

Room Tip: Choose the Grandstand area for a location which is central to everything, and first on the bus route...

This is our second time staying at Saratoga Springs and it is a superb place to stay for longer Disney trips. We had nine people in our group, including 6 adults and 3 young children and had a two-bedroom villa and a studio unit (for our two honeymooners). The villa is just like having a vacation home with a fully equipped kitchen and laundry. Our main bedroom was a nice master with comfortable king sized bed, and a unique bathroom. The main part of the master bath had a jetted tub, vanity and sink, and closet with wall safe. Separated by a door was a shower and again separated by a door the toilet. For large groups (the villa sleeps up to nine) it is easy to turn the master bath to double duty. The second bedroom had two queen-sized bed and its own bath with combo tub/shower. Both bedroom have a TV. Between the two bedroom is the kitchen and dining area with a table for a least 6. Also between the bedrooms is the living area with chair and sofa (both make into beds), large screen TV, and a balcony. Our second unit was a studio which is much like a normal suite hotel room with two queen beds, small refrigerator, microwave, and bath. All was in good repair and clean.

There are five sections to Saratoga Springs, The Grandstand, The Carousel, The Paddock, Congress Park, and The Springs. It is a large resort, but each area has it's own pool and bus stop. We were in The Springs which is right across from the Carriage House (check-in, restaurants, main pool, store, spa, and other recreation). Bus service was reliable, but it can sometimes be up to 30 minutes between buses and we spent about an hour and a half on buses each day. As resort guests you can drive and park for free at the theme parks.

Saratoga Springs is a Disney Vacation Club (DVC) resort. It is across the lake from Downtown Disney. Because it is not near a theme park like so many of the other DVC resorts it tends to be (along with Old Key West Resort) the last to fill-up. Still Saratoga Springs is a great place to stay and it's great to unwind with peace and quite after a day in the theme parks. A big plus is the budget savings from having a kitchen. I know Disney is pushing their dining plans (which are good deals), but I don't want to eat that much. Having a kitchen we had breakfast in the room every morning, and packed sandwiches for lunch (Disney allows you to bring food into the theme parks). We were there for nine nights and had dinner in the room for 3 nights, ate Disney quick-service 3 nights, and had sit-down dinners 3 nights.

Overall I highly recommend Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort.

Room Tip: The Springs is nearest to the main resort area, but is the last bus stop in Saratoga Springs which m...

We finished our recent trip to Walt Disney World at Saratoga Springs. We have stayed here before and it is a great place to stay if you enjoy spending time at Downtown Disney Marketplace and Westside. Our room was in area called The Paddock and was a short walk to the front of the resort. We enjoyed our studio accommodations and the food at The Artist's Palette. The main walking trail to Downtown Disney is closed due to ongoing construction but there is a second, longer trail you can walk. You can also get there by bus or boat too. It was a great stay and we were pleased with all aspects of this resort.

From the moment we arrived until we reluctantly left, we two senior ladies encountered only friendly and helpful staff, and we felt so well taken care of. The resort is large but there is an internal bus route, parking seems adequate and our bus service to the parks was great, plus we enjoyed taking a boat up and down the Sassagoula River on the day we visited Downtown Disney. Our suite was quiet and very comfortable, and spotlessly clean. Each evening we sat out on the porch and enjoyed the little lake, the birds and an occasional rabbit--so relaxing! The food service in the store off the lobby was open late and quite good, reasonably priced with specials every night and the option to take dinner on back to the room. We did have a delicious dinner at the Turf Club our first night, outside on a balcony overlooking the river. Disney theming is minimal at this resort. I've stayed at the All Star Movies and Music and enjoyed the motifs but it really was nice to leave the parks each evening and return to the serene 19th century Victorian environment. If you are considering Saratoga Springs, look into the descriptions, maps and pictures on the various Disney sites to decide on the area that would suit you best, and learn about the many activities that are available within the resort.

Room Tip: Buildings close to the lobby/store/pool may be preferable if you are without a car.
