Myself, husband and 16 year old daughter stayed here from 4th to 16th August. We had a 2 bedroom suite on the third floor of Tower 1. I spent a long time searching for the right place to stay and I can definitely say this place was it! The reception staff were very polite and helpful all through our holiday and the suite itself was lovely with a beautiful view of the pool and lake at the back and a disney view from the front balcony. The suite itself was clean and comfortable and huge for the three of us! Our daughter had her own bathroom off her twin room so this gave her some privacy. We had a kingsized bed and en-suite bathroom and a front balcony view. The living area was lovely with a 3 piece suite, coffee table, large dining table and flatscreen TV (one in each bedroom also). The kitchen area had everything we needed including oven, microwave, kettle, coffee maker, toaster, dishwasher and a large fridge/freezer. There was also a washing machine and dryer in the hallway (along with a set of bunk beds!) They also supplied lots of towels, washing up liquid, dishwasher tabs, and small toiletries for the bathrooms. If you wanted housekeeping you had to pay extra for this. The pool was never too busy and you could always get a sunbed. We booked through alpharooms and got a fantastic deal for this time of year. We hired a car and it was just a five minute drive to downtown disney and about 15 mins to the rest of disney parks. It took about 20-25 mins to universal. There are loads of restaurants nearby and some large giftshops. We went to walmart to get food for our breakfast and snacks etc. We had a fantastic time at The Blue Heron and would definitely stay here again, a wonderful holiday was had by all!

Staff(all)extremely helpful&courteous.rooms spacious, clean&with everything needed for a self catering holiday.we stayed in three rooms on the 8th &9th floors of tower 1.all rooms ovrlooked the pool & Lake Bryant.....(spectacular sunrises)location is ideal within 15mins.of all Disney parks and only 20/30 mins from Orlando Int.Airport(probably the nicest airport in the world.!!!)Best part was coming back from the parks & spending 2/3 hrs unwiding at the pool. Only small inconvenience was noise from Freeway which was virtually constant(double glazing on patio doors would solve this minor irratation)

One must be forgiven after spending a week at the Shingle Creek, Orlando and the Sandpearl Hotel, Clearwater so this review of the Blue Heron is written independently as a new arrival guest to Orlando. The staff are pleasant but after checking in there is little else you need to see the staff for unless you need to extend your checkout hours which is about $50 for 3 hours.

The name "Blue Heron Beach Resort" I feel is somewhat misleading - there are no Herons and no Beach and this isn't a resort as such. This is very VERY standard accommodation which is perfectly suitable for a family looking for an uncomplicated self-catering holiday. By this I mean no valet parking and no tipping to anyone as soon as you walk out the door, here you can come and go without and fuss and if the budget is what you are working from this is a good place to be.

We stayed on the first floor which is very darkly lit due to the low rise level and the entrance is a dingy car park which is a little dis-heartening. The games and fitness room is complete trash - sorry but it really is. There are about 3 video games and the treadmill didn't work properly so anybody looking for a decent games room or fitness center whilst on holiday really need to look elsewhere. This accommodation cannot be given an extra star for these two amenities..surely??

The pool area is clean and the grounds seem to be maintained by the worker bees polishing door handles and the lift doors etc.. The view is not too bad, we were overlooking the pool and Lake Bryan which is the best part of the accommodation - I think had we a view of the car parking (which is very possible) then it would of ended the holiday on a bad note altogether.

I do feel security is an issue here. There is nothing to stop anybody walking into the building and nudging (yes I do mean a nudge) the door to walk right in and steal what they wanted. We did not see any safe or were offered a safe.

Location is pretty spot-on, there are numerous food places, supermarkets, an upmarket shopping mall Downtown Disney is also right on the doorstep so it could be argued that this place was built for location rather than accommodation?

Come on Blue Heron, there is so much scope for improvement here even just little things like an automated gate to give assurances of security or the pool hut being open to serve ices and drinks will make a difference.

Right now Blue Heron sadly misses the mark when compared to other nearby accommodations but it does what it says on the tin - simple, clean, no fills accommodation.

With all the options in and around Disney, you can do much better than the Blue Heron. We got an upgrade and very good deal through Expedia, but unfortunately the place was so dirty we did not enjoy it. Some examples: Our feet were black after walking around the rooms without shoes; my daughters room had an actual SNOT on the wall above her bed; our sheets had not been changed and all the sofas and fabric covered chairs had multiple stains on them. Sure, it has granite counter tops and a nice view of Disney fireworks at night, but what good is that if your skin is crawling the entire time you are there. We chose not to change rooms because we were on the go all day and well into the night enjoying the parks so, we didn't spend a whole lot of time in the room. I did mention the issues to the front desk on the way out and never received an apology. It was more of a reprimand for not asking to change rooms. Honestly, the entire place looks in need of some cleaning and upgrades so it probably wouldn't have made a difference.

The suite itself was very large and accomodating. However we got no sleep at night due to noise from neighbors both beside and above us. Pools were very dirty and large pool was not heated during a very cold week. Elevator area glass doors were taped off due to broken glass, so I had to walk my kids around long way during entire stay/

Great location, friendly staff, and the price was right. Would definitely stay here again. Only drawback was that the sofa bed was not too comfortable, but they never are.

The Blue Heron made our holiday. Disney is right on the doorstep and Universal is only 20 mins away. The whole family made good use of the pool especially in the mornings, with the sun, my only complaint is that as the afternoon approaches the pool then gets shady and cool. Would definately come back again. A great trip had by all.
