“What a great place to stay”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 October 2010

Having always stayed in villas in the past we decided on the Blue Heron for a change. We made a great choice! We were on floor 15 in tower 2 with great Lake Bryan and Downtown Disney views. The condo was very clean and larger than we anticipated. Both bedrooms were en-suite with tv's, ideal for your own space if wanted. Staff were extremely helpful and pleasant when we needed anything. Pool was lovely and hardly used during our stay. The location of the resort was brilliant, not too far from the main theme parks. Car parking was good although one observation would be to paint the columns a different colour to the walls as they all blended into one.
All in all I would totally recommend this place - we will definately be staying on our next visit.

we stayed at the blue heron at the end of august-beg sept for 14 nights. everything about it was fantastic the reception were all very helpful the apartment had lovely views over the lake ,rooms were all clean with a bit of wear and tear which is to be expected. pool was cleaned every morning. we have been going to orlando for 14 years and used to stay in hotels until we discovered apartments. this is our 2nd time staying at the blue heron (we stayed last year in oct / nov ) hopefuly we will be back next year and wont hesitate in staying here again.

cant fault the blue heron at all just great so clean. always go on holiday with cleaning stuff but did not need it. Great big spacious rooms fantastic kitchen . Didn't bring any washing home as did small washes everyday which only took about 15 minutes.Staff very friendly and helpful.Great location Santa fee across the road did great steaks and very reasonable. plenty round about just go up the road and under bridge and you will find loads more including tgi fridays. Cant not mention the great views from front and back of hotel especially if you have a high room as we did just fantastic sun rise and sun set. Would definitely go back .

Everything about our stay at the blue heron beach resort was excellent. Jordan at the front desk was very friendly and helpful. When we got to our room or should I say condo...it was alot larger than we expected and super super clean. With a three year old, I was scared he was going to mess something up. We were on the 15th floor in tower 1. Parking was great in the parking garage. And the shuttle to Magic Kingdom was great to. Beware the bus comes right on time and does not wait at ALL. So be down there at least 10 minutes early.

The lake view was breathtaking. All rooms have a lake view. The pool was very nice too. There was also a smaller pool in front of tower two that was semi-heated.

There is a $12.00 resort fee you have to pay when you get there but the shuttle to Disney is free. So that pays for itself.

We stayed here as a part of my parents timeshare so I don't actually know how much a night we paid.

I would definitely recommend staying here to all types of families.

This was our second visit and for a special occasion. Contacted prior to arrival which ensured a very smooth check in. Stayed in a de luxe suite and was clean and well presented. Everything a family with teeanager and youngster would need. Fantastic views over lake bryan but better views of downtown disney, fireworks in the distance for all disney parks, but the sun rise over lake bryan was superb. Plenty of room in suite, good kitchen, bathrooms well appointed. Plenty of parking but on a first come basis close to lifts, not a problem. Did not use pool facilities although it looked clean and inviting. Reception very friendly and efficient. Did not make use of free shuttle service to Disney and Universal, reception provide all info upon check in. Free internet was usefull for checking out local info. Very good for Disney access. Park in downtown disney and use resort transport, saving $14 per day on car parks. IF you want universal, short trip up the I4 or use the free shuttle. Tip for Universal, after 6pm it is $3 parking, great if you want a short visit. Plenty of local restaraunts, Golden Corral was our favourite with the kids and very close to Blue Heron. Would definately use again, friendly staff, clean and well appointed accomodation.

What can I say about this hotel/condo. As soon as we walked in we were absolutely gobsmacked by the size, cleanliness etc and the views are excellent. I always search for hours on tripadvisor for views on hotels and we weren't disappointed. To start at the beginning: I booked flights with Thomas Cook and was extremely surprised cos I'd heard negative reports about their flights but the leg room was great and no delays or problems. Blue Heron is approx 1 hour from Sanford and very easy to find, even if you haven't been to Orlando before. Check-in at Blue Heron was quick, easy and the staff were excellent then and throughout the 2 weeks. Booked hotel through Travel Republic (but shop around on cashback sites like Quidco) and we paid £711 for two weeks in August for a 2 bed condo (well worth the little bit extra for the extra bedroom, which also has its own bathroom) which I think was a bargain! The 1 bed's don't have the views of Disney although you can stand outside your room and still see (or go to the 21st floor look-out post). That price included parking, resort fees (which can be at least $10 per night and a clean at the end of the first week). I e-mailed the hotel a week before we left to ask if we could have a really nice room (having read some of the negative views regarding cleanliness of certain rooms) and was given 2901, which is 2nd Tower and 9th floor (although this is actually 11 floors up as the first two floors are car parks). Although I had asked for the 9th floor I have to admit I got a bit spooked by the height - I'm a bit of a wus,(although it goes to 21 floors!!) and when I was asked the next morning if everything was okay and told him, he did say they wanted everyone to be happy and they would happily change it. But we stayed put and I got used to it mainly because the views were so stunning. Before we went I couldn't understand how you had a view of the lake at the back and Disney fireworks at the front (having been to Lake Buena Vista before) but its because the rooms are the full length of the hotel!! Kitchen/dining/lounge is one big room overlooking the lake and master bedroom (with a queen size COMFY bed) was overlooking the main 535 and Disney. Because we had a corner suite we were also overlooking the pool. Yes you have to go through the covered car park to get to the pool but so what!! Never any problems parking and your car was always cool being undercover or you didn't get drenched if it rained. You have to use your key card to use the lift so good security. We put our name down for a safety depost box and got one on our 3rd day - free!! You also got washing up liquid, washing powder, t.towel and a few dishwasher tablets and toilet roll and toiletries in the bathrooms (replenished after the first week). Plus plenty of towels and a pool towel each. (Take a few extra hangers). Yes we also had a slight stain in the main bedroom and the furniture was a little old fashioned and dark but again so what! Think some of the negative comments may have been picky people!!! And weren't the slightest bit bothered that there was no valet parking as some people seem to be!! The pool area is clean and tidy - pool cleaned every morning and always got a sunbed. For August the hotel was very quiet and we never heard any noise on a night. With my jet lag I was up really early every morning but it didn't matter because the sunrise was beautiful over the lake. On an evening you could watch the sun going down and not long after (9.00) the Epcot fireworks and about every 3rd night the Walt Disney World ones, which are even better. You could see Epcot ball, Everest, and even closer is Downtown Disney (5 mins by car). The location is spot on, not just for the views but to get about. Disney World so close and Sea World and Aquatica is next juntion on I-4. Universal and Island of Adventure within 15 minutes. Expected longer in August (we usually go in February) but roads very quiet. We used the free hotel transfer which was brilliant and saves you $15 dollars a day for parking (small tip will suffice). There was 8.30, 10.30 and 12.30 going to Universal or Sea World and 5.30 or 8.30 coming back and we never picked up at any other hotels, so straight there! (the bus was only 15 seater). Didn't do Disney this year but that's a coach and would probably pick up elsewhere as well, taking longer. Although they don't do Aquatica you can go to Sea World and then get their shuttle to the water park or if you're lucky like we were, our driver just said I'll drop you off there and pick you up just before the Sea World pick up so we wouldn't miss the bus - and no charge!!! We had the flexi ticket so got the free bus to Busch Gardens (just rang them the night before) and the best pick up for that is Publix supermarket, (you can leave your car there with no charge) just past Orlando Premium Outlet. Were really surprised how quiet it was at the parks - one day at Sea World we were the only people in line for Kracken!! And a lot of rides do "single rider" which usually gets you to the front even if the other queue is 40 mins (which is probably the most minutes we saw). Apart from Harry Potter - OMG that was an hour and half in the morning!!! We went back after lunch on single rider and it was 5 mins. Brill! The old "Fire and Ice" is the same ride but the new Harry Potter ride is excellent and so is the little village area (the queues for the shops selling wands etc. was about 1/2 hour!). Now the Shopping!!! Orlando Premium Outlet (my favourite) is two minutes by car and loads of bargains. Prime 1 Outlet is about 20 minutes by car and has improved loads since we went 2 years ago. Even got an Ugg outlet. Florida Mall about 20 mins and Millenium Mall similar ( we did that again on the last day as our flight wasn't going til t.time and its on way to Sanford). Dollar not brill (we had 2 for 1 last time) and prices have gone up as well but still bargains to be had! Especially trainers, shoes, clothes etc. Abercrombie now very expensive but worth it as it lasts years. As for food - plenty of restaurants close by - Cici's Pizza next door (all you can eat buffet) and Dunkin Donuts and Starbucks. Steak restaurants within 10 mins walk. 2 mins by car is Crossroads which has loads of choice and a few shops. (you can see it from the 1-4). I'd better shut up now cos I've probably bored you to death but I just LOVE Orlando and especially now we've found the Blue Heron - who needs villas (we paid £900+ for villas in February and preferred this condo). Like other people the only thing maybe missing is a bar/cafe at the pool area but that's all. Don't forget to take a pair of bonoculars for the views and hope you enjoy your holiday as much as we did. If anyone has any questions don't hesitate to e-mail me.

Book this hotel, it was great, we stayed for 18 nights in August, in a one bedroom apartment in tower 1.

Room had everything we could need, great air conditioning throughout full kitchen, living and dining area, 2 bathrooms and bunk beds in the hall. It began to feel like our home after a while. AMAZING VIEWS, I don't think any other hotel in Orlando could match the views this place offers, from your balcony you can sit and relax looking at the lake and look right across a to Orlando Airport, Sea World and Universal in the distance. And from the front landings you can see right across Disney World and watch all the fireworks in the evening.

Under cover parking is also a bonus as your car doesn't get to hot.

The pools are great, we only went in the main pool, it is heated and to a perfect temperature, and it is cleaned, saw the pool cleaner there quite a few mornings, sometimes there were a few leaves and things i the pool, but as the hotel is surrounded by tree's and wetland it is to be expected.

All the staff were very friendly and helpful, and any problems were dealt with straight away.

Only 1 thing needs a bit of attention, in 2 of the 3 elevators in tower 1 the tile floor had been smashed and had tape over them, I hope the hotel fixes this and keeps up with maintenance issues as they arise and we will hopefully return in the coming years.

Also free internet is not wifi but via cable connection and as such we couldn't connect our iPad. Only a slight problem as we didn't want to spend all our time online.

All in all this is a perfect base for your trip to Orlando. Go and enjoy!
