Best Western Plus Universal Inn

We stayed July 21-25 and visited Universal Studios. We had a rental car, but took the 1st shuttle from the hotel at 8:00 and then took a taxi back in the afternoons--taxi was anywhere from $5--$8 one way. Totally worth not having the headache/cost of parking at the park. Lots of reviewers said they walked, but we wouldn't have wanted to--it was just too hot after walking all day at the park. They will call you a taxi if you want to go at a time when the shuttle doesn't run, and it's still only $5-$8.
There are lots of choices for eating within walking distance, although we did drive to the TGIFridays (about 6 blocks away), but the Orlando Ale House is really good with reasonable prices. I wouldn't recommend the Golden Corral, but I'm not a fan of that place in general. There is an IHOP and a Waffle House just a few blocks away, and a Burger King very close. There is a Walgreens close as well, which was handy. There's also a cool little souvenir shop right next to Walgreens that has really reasonably priced t-shirts, etc.
There is a computer room where I was able to print our return boarding passes right in the lobby.
Breakfast was good--some hot choices, fruit, yogurt, cereal, granola, fruit juices, waffles, coffee. The pool was a bit of a disappointment--one of the pictures on this site is NOT the pool at this hotel, so it wasn't what we expected--it was small and kind of crowded--that's why I gave the hotel 4 stars instead of 5, but it wasn't a deal breaker for us--we didn't really come for the pool! There is a counter in the lobby where you can purchase park tickets and though we didn't use this service, it appeared that the gentlemen that manned the counter were really knowledgeable.
The rooms were clean and comfortable.
One thing that I want to mention is that my daughter left her Rosary on the nightstand in the hotel room, and we didn't think of it until we were at the airport and had returned the rental car--no way to go back for it. I called the hotel and explained the situation to the clerk and asked if there would be any way they could mail it to us in Nebraska. He was very kind--retrieved the Rosary, and it arrived 2 days after we had returned home--and NOT "COD"--just sent at their expense. I thought that was especially good customer service.
I would definitely recommend this hotel mostly for the convenience/closeness to Universal and the helpfulness of the staff.

Very good hotel. Clean and tidy. Rooms were always cleaned up add never used whenever we came back to the hotel.. Which is really very refreshing. Breakfast had a huge variety for everyone (veg/non-veg) The only downside was the receptionist named Karina,.who was really rude and highly uninterested in making the guests feel at home. She didn't even know which took was located where. But again she was the only one that way, others were very courteous. Overall an excellent hotel. Low ratings due to the rude receptionist only!!

Very close to Universal Studios. It was about a 15 minute walk with plenty of others walking as well. The hotel has a shuttle two times in the morning(8:30am and 10:00am)and once in the evening that you can sign up in advance for. The times did not meet our needs therefore we walked. The room was very clean, smelled nice with excellent air condition. The beds were large and comfortable with 4 pillows on each bed. There was a good size fridge, micro wave, table w/2 chairs and small coffee maker. The breakfast was excellent so many choices and always restocked up until the ending time. Kudos to Christina who kept the breakfast area clean and replenished. Great value for the price, I would stay here again when visiting Universal Studios.

The rooms are ok for the price. Rooms have a musty odor. Beds are not very comfortable. Breakfast is provided. It includes eggs, yogurt, toast, bagels and more. Shuttle service is provided for the parks. Hotel staff is helpful.

The room was clean & the staff knowledgable & helpful. We were on first floor & there was definitely some noise- how could there not be with a 3/4 in gap between door & frame (we didn't need a nightlight- the light streaming through that sufficed). The breakfast was good, but super crowded. You can't beat the location if going to Universal! Lots of eating & a Walgreens very close-by.

Stayed one night whilst in Orlando as a group of four 21/22 year old Australian girls, purpose of our trip was a visit to Universal Studios. Room was suffice for one night - staff were lovely, and held our bags from approx 930am - 11pm whilst we visited Universal Studios. Room was clean, reasonably spacious (enough room for four large suitcases). Hair dryer wasn't very good, wifi was okay, pillows were quite small however. Quite a good range for breakfast and free shuttle to Universal Studios which was fantastic. Overall great hotel if wishing to stay for a few days to go to Universal Studios.

The location was great and the price was excellent. Rooms were clean and overall hotel was quiet. Parking was free but hard to find a spot and they are really close together, so be sure to get insurance on your rental.
