I have stayed at this hotel many times over the years it has a fantastic location. I had emailed and asked for a certain room when I checked in I was told this room number did not exist even tho I have stayed in it twice before?? One of reception staff was very unfriendly no smiles no eye contact and kept mumbling not what you want at start of your holiday. Anyway we got our 2 rooms it was a girls holiday and we walked right past room I had requested rooms were facing pool/bar area they had been renovated to a point, the hallways had all carpets removed and wooden floors which was so much better. We had a problem with air con in our room it was leaking water and carpet was soaking and it made some noise we told reception and they sent someone to have look they sorted noise but it was still leaking they offered us another room but we were more than happy with rest of room. Breakfast was great and Miss B is an absolute treasure to that hotel so happy and helpful,we went at all different time for breakfast after 7.30 after 8.00 and there was ALWAYS everything you needed cereal, toast, cakes tea coffee juice. Miss B does a great job considering how DISGUSTING some of the guest were dropping stuff on floor on tables not even attempting to clean up after them selves ??.The lynx bus stops right outside hotel and you can get iride up a little bit. We had a lovely walk to Universal Studios every time we visited it only about 15/20 mins away. The hotel does need some work done but I think they are doing best. If you want better then pay more, but do have to say they really need to get wi fi sorted and better and have all over hotel not just at reception area...

Me and my boyfriend stayed 14 nights at this hotel (25th June - 9th July) and after some reviews on here we were at first apprehensive...
As soon as we arrived that changed! The staff on the lobby were friendly and inviting, although we did have to wait 25 minutes to check in (arriving at 3 checking was meant to begin at 4) they sorted everything as fast as we could and they handed us a room key..room 1325
This room was in the bottom floor facing the main road. Once we walked in we were amazed at how clean the room was, beds in a lovely condition, huge flat screen samsung tv (not that this matters, who goes all the way to florida to watch tv!!?) we had a microwave and a large black fridge which accommodated our Mountain Dew needs! Being by the main road was no problem at all, I heard no noise either because I was soo tired every night or when the air con is on it is louder than normal, however this did not disturb our sleep!
Our rooms were cleaned every day, fresh towels every day, bins changed everyday, it was lovely.
We didn't really eat the free breakfast but that's mainly because we were catching lynx buses at 7 in the morning and ate out or at the parks.
The location of this hotel is more than good...it's fantastic and for the price you pay, how can you complain!
Plenty of places to eat out and shops everywhere!
All in all lovely hotel for the price, already looking at booking again next year!
Thankyou met express!

Checked Into this hotel on 17th June. As we opened the door into our room the smell of damp was overbearing. After umming and arring we decided to ask to change rooms. The hotel staff were miserable and not very apologetic for the smell in the room but gave us another room key eventually. We entered our new room and were confronted with lots of black / red stains on the carpet. Probably blood as far as I was aware. We had to put the green throws on the floor to create a clean pathway to our beds when we took off our shoes. The air con unit made the room smell of damp. The air con unit leaked and the floor at the end of the bed was wet! The plug sockets were hanging out with wires also. The bed sheets also had stains on which was disgusting and luckily it was warm so we didn't have to put them on us! The bathroom in the room was surprisingly clean however and I have no complaints re this. The location of the hotel was ideal and the complementary shuttle from the hotel to the Disney / universal / Seaworld parks was very good. The area around the hotel was lovely with lots too places to dine. The complementary breakfast at the hotel was basic but nice and clean and consisted of juices, coffee, toast, croissants, and muffins. Overall I would recommend you stay in the area but not at this hotel!

Dear guest, Thank you for your review. Unfortunately Central Florida is very humid in the summertime and there is no battling this issue for us. We do try and as you said apart from the few small issues we do fet the job done in areas we can control.

2nd time staying at this hotel. Great location and spacious clean rooms but housekeeping and breakfast lets it down. Never any pool towels and every day you have to phone reception to get more bath towels sent up as the Maid would persistently leave 2 towels despite 4 guests staying in room. One day, no towels were left whatsoever, no face cloths and bath had no plug so had to plug up the whole with our own face cloths we had bought with us to give the children a bath. Unless you are up for breakfast between 6:30 and 7:30 dont even bother going to get any as it is not replenished very well. Get there after 7:30 and there is no juice, no cakes or cereal and you will be left with toast and water! The noise from the bar in the evenings is loud if you have an apartment around the pool and the ice machine leaks but instead of fixing it there is just a traffic cone in the middle of the walk way every day. Its very dangerous as in flip flops my daughter slipped on the floor, luckily to no injury. We would not stay here again, im sorry Metroexpress.

Dear guest, Thank you for the review of our hotel. We do hope you will give it another try considering the small issues you had. Unfortunately housekeeping doesn't know the number of guests in each room but we do have extra for any guest who needs it.

My partner and I, both 26, have just returned from a two week stay in this hotel. We were a bit sceptical at first after reading all the bad reviews but we had a very pleasant stay in this hotel.

We were given a room on the ground floor and it was very clean and seemed to have been recently renovated. We had two double beds, they were very comfy and sheets changed everyday, we had fresh towels everyday, a new flat screen TV and good working air conditioning. The only problem with the room was that the safe didn't work, a handyman was sent down within 5 minutes if reporting it, but he couldn't fix it so for the duration of our stay we left all valuables in the main safe at reception. The receptionist were all very friendly and polite, there was a tourist lady at reception also to give you any help and advice on anything to do with Orlando.

The breakfast was good, bagels, toast, cereals, tea, and coffee, enough to keep you going til lunchtime. The breakfast area was a little bit messy, as there was only one lady to tidy up, sometimes the tables never got cleaned.

The free shuttle to Disney was good, it was always 10-15 minutes late everyday, so you would end up getting to Disney a little later than planned, and the buses coming back weren't late enough if you were planning on watching the fireworks.

Renovation around the pool area was being done during our stay and new sun loungers and cushions were in place, so the pool area looked great by the time we left.

The I trolley stop was right outside the hotel, I would recommend getting a pass for it, it costs us £12 each for a two week unlimited pass and we used it at least twice a day. It is $2 for each journey otherwise. The hotel is two minutes away from wet and wild and about 25 minute walk from Universal. There is a selection of restaurants, gift shops, supermarkets all on its doorstep.

I would definitely return to this hotel in the future!

Room Tip: Ask for a renovated room on the ground floor!

I have stayed at this hotel five times! that's each time that I have been to orlando!, my parents come twice a year to this hotel for the last 27 years!! there has been a lot of bad reviews from people who expect a five star hotel when they stay at the metropolitan express!, this is not a five star hotel and dosnt pretend to be!!! This hotel is perfect for location as it offers free transportation to all the disney parks, is based just around the corner to universal and it is also opposite wet n wild waterpark! It has the lynx bus stop directly outside to take you to wherever you would like to go so no need for a car if you are staying at the metropolitan express and you have so loads of restaurants to choose from within walking and bus distance!, the metropolitan express has the best swimming pool in the area with a lovely outdoor space you can sit by the pool outside your room, best rooms are the pool access rooms, there is also a tiki bar which is open from should you want a drink during the day, free breakfast comes with the price of your room, some people have complained that the breakfast is not enough but the reason for that is greedy people used to stuff food into their bags to take out with them and it was vanishing rather quick so because of those people the breakfast isn't a huge selection but enough for most people, there has also been complaints that maintainance is a bit slack in the hotel, again this is not a five star hotel, and refurbishments are in place, this hotel has a had a lot of managers come and go but now has a new manager called mike who has recognised the faults and is at present improving the look of the hotel, we stayed here for the last 3 weeks and saw a lot of improvements happening, if people have a problem the manager is very approachable, and I can assure you he will get it rectified!, the rooms at the metropolitan express have 2 large double beds, a power shower, and bath, tv , microwave and refrigerator, and a fantastic view of the pool, free wi if is offered if in the lobby and by the pool based at the tiki bar, I plan to come and stay at this hotel every year now and I highly recommend it, it also great value for money!! thanks for a great stay mike!!

Room Tip: Choose a pool room the metrpolitan express has the best and biggest pool in the area!!, great to sit...

After a nightmare experience at international palms (see my review) we (my wife and myself) decided to book into metropolitan express as it looked very nice on website ha ha (as they always do) and it was only two minutes up the road, this was nightmare part 2, I agree with other reviewers, the reception staff were miserable and couldn't even look at you when they were talking to you. After checking in and heading off to our room on the first floor, (no elevator) we were horrified at the state of the staircase and carpet at top of stairs and also in the corridors. On entering the room the 1st thing that greeted us was a stain on the carpet (dread to think what it was) leave that to the imagination, then discovered TV was cracked in top left corner, further stains all over carpet, curtains didn't meet in the middle, had a 1ft gap, the net curtains which accompanied these were absolutely filthy,as if they had never been washed since the day they were hung up, possibly 10 years at a guess ( no kidding folks) on proceeding to the bathroom found unsafe extractor fan on wall ( basically hanging off the wall with wires showing ). The bath tub was ancient and full of rusty scratch marks, the shower head was full of mould, the towels were very old and threadbare. In the main sleeping area ( bedroom ) there was a fridge and microwave which were possibly out of "Noah's Ark" there were unsafe plug sockets and bare wired extension cables. We were fortunate (possibly unfortunate) to only stay for the 1 night, I feel sorry for people who had booked this dump for two weeks holiday, and there will have been.please, please, please do your homework before booking these grotty accommodations, I don't know how they can get away with it in this day and age, shame on you and any website that promotes you.

Room Tip: Just don't bother, pay that little bit extra for that piece of comfort and cleanliness.
