We recently stayed here for one week, after being at Marriotts Newport Villas in Newport Beach, California immediately before this stay and Marriott Villas in Phuket Thailand in September of 2011.
We could not get into our home resort of Grand Vista, Orlando and so settled for Royal Palms, Orlando instead.
We were somewhat disappointed to start with as we were expecting something along the same quality as we have experienced in other resorts previously.
The furnishings older, the decorating, shower stalll, fridge, etc all older and of inferior quality.
We however spent the week at Theme Parks and so the smaller facilities and lesser quality did not really affect us that much. Royal and Sabal Palms (side by side) can also use the facilities of the Marriott Hotel which is right beside these resorts. There is a 'on demand' free shuttle between the resorts and hotel so you can use the pool, gym, restaurants etc of the hotel. However the one night we did go to the Hotel pool, it had been busy during the day with Spring break frivolities and the pool area really grubby and untidy, strewn with empty cans, cups, straws, dirty towels etc. Very poor for a Hotel of such caliber ! We never returned.
Our unit was on the ground floor which was great in the fact it was easy to go between our unit and the car but it was really noisy with foot steps above your head. The noise got so bad with a child continually running across the ceiling, I had to call the front desk. They quickly and quietly took care of the problem with no further major noise issues, just the odd rumble.

Room Tip: Bottom floor easy access from car to room but can suffer from noise if noisy occupants above you

We stayed on the first floor overlooking the golf course. Very clean resort. Staff was helpful with anything you may have needed. Bed in master was very comfortable. The second bedroom had a queen bed as well as a built in twin. We enjoyed having the privilege of using all the facilities of the Marriott world center. They also provided free shuttle service from resort to hotel until 11 pm. Will definitely come back. Resort is two miles from Disney and an easy drive to other attractions.

Last night was our 5th night at Royal Palms Marriott, it was good until last night, we got some noisy neighbors, complained to front desk and they did nothing about it, noise started at 12am, called at 4am and they screamed until 6am. Worthless security onsite !
BTW, no cleaning service during our 7 night stay, not once ! I thought it's timeshare standard that we get 1 cleaning during a 7 night stay,
Will not stay at this Marriott again. Not recommended.

Room Tip: Stay at Sabal Palms or Cypress Harbor, it's better service.

Since this is one of the older Marriott timeshare venues, we were a little hesitant to book here. Well, we should have known that Marriott would live up to its good reputation! The unit was spotless! Wonderful facilities, great corner unit with view of the golf course, full screened porch...and the best for us as grandparents of 3 very active grandgirls...we had full access to the Marriott World Hotel next door so they could swim, slide, play, and run to their hearts content at the great hotel pools and activities center.
Check in was slightly delayed by about an hour, but we were offered all sorts of distractions to keep us 'busy' including a big screen TV and computer stations and the timeshare pool.
The location is very near Lake Buena Vista, Disney's shopping venue, and World Drive which leads to Epcot and Animal Kingdom. Plenty of dining venues nearby so don't worry that there isn't an onsight restaurant. Shuttle service to the Marriott World Center is on call always, so you can always get there for 3 meals a day!
We had a great time just 'hanging out' and will be happy to return in the future!

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from the pool and on a higher floor (there are 4 floors) if you want a little peace and quiet.

Our family stayed at the Royal Palms and loved it. We had four generations staying and everyone was pleased and all needs were met. The two bedroom suits with full kitchen and living room and dining area was all we needed. The master bath is wonderful with a HUGE jacuzzi tub. There is added seating at the kitchen counter area that took care of the kids. The screened in patio was wonderful for those who stayed up late to drink some wine and continue chatting into the night. We had minor issues like the ice maker was broken and a bathroom sink drained slowly however with one phone call within minutes a gentleman arrived and fixed everything. Great service.
The surrounding view is a beautiful golf course and its fun to watch as some hit the green and others end up in the sand traps or worse. The Palms is an easy drive within minutes of Disney.
Trust me, just go for it......you'll love the Royal Palms.
