Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort
Ranked #154 of 340 Hotels in Orlando
Reviewed 13 March 2014 via mobile

We recently stayed at this hotel and found it to be absolutely lovely. True to Disney style, all of the attention to detail immerses you in the Caribbean. Sandy beach fronts boast both sunshine over the private lake as well as shade over the family sized hammocks, while a private island has multiple play areas for children. The architecture and landscaping is truly beautiful, and picturesque at any angle. The only regret I have regarding my stay was that I didn't plan a day to stay at the resort all day. Between the pool party, island party, crafts, bonfire, and movie under the stars, this resort offers many activities without ever getting to the parks, all of which looked amazingly unique and fun. Bus times are approximately the same as other resorts, but the sense of privacy and slightly bigger rooms (than the value resorts) makes this a family friendly and fun place to stay!

We arrived after midnight at this huge property and there were no amenities as they were all closed. Desk clerk was unsure if there were any vending machines....really?

Place is really big and we were far, far away from main pool and food. Like too far away.

Room and entire hotel need a major update. Pirate room looks neat but very overrated. I would stay at value or better yet off property at name brand hotel. I would not recommend.

We stayed in Trinidad North. The message light was blinking on our room phone so Mickey could sing Happy Birthday to our birthday girl!! Perfect location for bus and walking distance to Old Port Royale.
Room was nice--everything we needed for a 4 day weekend!! We had no complaints about anything!! Wristbands all worked perfectly. We checked in on line, so everything was ready when we arrived--no wait. Our room was on the second floor, which we preferred--just be aware that there are no elevators, so anyone with lots of large luggage will get a work out!! The pools were beautiful--we never got to use them--too chilly, except on our last day, but we opted for more of the park--we can swim anywhere!!

Room Tip: Trinidad North, preferred room

We stayed here last month for 4 nights and 5 days. We were in Martinique and had paid for an upgrade for a water view. We were right on one the beaches that surround the lake. The beach was very nice, but you can't swim in the lake. Luckily each village has a pool near by, and there is a large pool with a couple of water slides at Old Port Royale, which was about a 5 minute walk from our room. The walk is very pleasant along a paved trail that runs all the way around the lake. There is an internal resort shuttle that you can use if you don't want to walk, but we never used it.

The rooms were small and the beds are full size, not queen. This was not a big deal for us as our kids are old enough that we pretty much stayed in the parks all day and really only slept in the room at night. The room was clean, but we had to request towels, soap, etc from housekeeping on arrival. They responded very quickly with an abundance of items. The decor was a bit dated. The only really bad thing about the room was that the walls are very thin. The first three nights we apparently did not have anyone staying in the neighboring rooms and it was very quiet, but the last night a family with a small child was located next to us and we were woken several times in the night and very early by crying and screaming.

All of the staff we dealt with from check in, to gift shop, housekeeping and bell services were friendly and helpful. We did not have any issues with bus waiting times. I don't think we ever waited more than 10-15 minutes leaving the hotel. Leaving the parks at night sometimes meant a longer wait of up to 1/2 hour. We were there at a slow time of the year though.

We had no issues with the magic bands. I am not sure what the deal was with the guy that said they do not fit grown men, my husband had no problems . My son's did lose one of the little toggle things that holds it in place on the last day, so I just kept it in my bag, but he is 10 and really hard on stuff. I did notice that we had to really make sure the door was latched all the way when we were going in and out. Unlike most hotel room doors it does not close automatically.

We did not eat at the restaurant at the resort as a family, but my daughter did get a pizza from the quick serve place for lunch one day. My advice: do NOT eat outside. A sea gull took a full slice of pizza right out of her hand! Staff was very helpful and offered to get her a new pizza.

We will probably check out the other moderates before we were to stay here again, but for the price I would come back. If you can afford it, I would say go for one of the deluxe rooms. We stayed in a 2 bedroom villa at Old Key West a couple of years ago and loved it.

We had a brief Disney vacation, spending only one day and one night there. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. Our room at the Caribbean Beach Resort was perfect, but, unfortunately we weren't there long enough to enjoy all the resort had to offer. Disney has sooooo many places to stay; we chose this one because of closeness to Epcot and the special being offered. I would not hesitate to stay at this resort again; our room was in the Barbados section and was very quiet.

Just returned from a 4 night stay at Caribbean Beach and enjoyed our visit very much. While the rooms are a bit dated, they are kept very clean and the beds are comfortable. We stayed in a king bedroom in the Jamaica area which was only a 5 minute walk to the town center Old Port Royale. Our room was large for Disney with an average size bathroom and adequate storage. The WiFi connection was very good. Parking was plentiful and close to the room.

The resort grounds are beautiful and well maintained. There a several swimming pools (and a main pool at Old Port Royale) and "beaches" throughout the resort. It is quite a large area but easily accessible.

As always, all staff throughout the resort were excellent- helpful and friendly at all times.

Caribbean Beach is very centrally located to all the parks and DTD. The Disney bus transportation seemed to be a little slow this time but driving time to any location was short.

The check-in/check-out building not conveniently located to rest of resort area and you need to take the internal resort bus or drive.

Overall it was an enjoyable visit. We have stayed at several other Disney resorts and decided to try this one as a comparison. We may or may not stay here again depending on the room rates but for moderate Disney resorts we prefer Port Orleans (either location) to this one.

This is my third hotel at Disney World and so far it's my favorite. The hotel itself is really pretty with lots of lush vegetation and a lake. The buildings really do feel like you tripped into a Caribbean vacation. We were in a Nemo room with two doubles. The room was clean and the beds were very comfortable. Also appreciated the two sinks in the bathroom area as there were three adults staying in the room. We brought an air mattress for our 3rd adult and the hotel was GREAT about sending an extra set of sheets and a blanket. The maid service made up his 'bed' every day and even left a towel creature on it one day. LOVE. The main pool area is a lot of fun for kids, from the looks of it. There's also an outdoor movie every night, and just as it's ending you get to watch the fireworks happening nearby at Epcot. We sat at the bar with bartender Mike every night for the fireworks.

HOWEVER, the FOOD. Ugh. We stayed at Pop Century last trip and even though it was a budget hotel there were way more choices for breakfast. We didn't have a car, so we were stuck there every morning and it was misery. It was basically bad cafeteria food, and not many choices at that. Also a problem? The buses, but where isn't that a problem in Disney? We figured out that it's necessary to try to catch buses at the start of their route in the resort in the morning. If you're at the third stop on, there's a good chance all you'll see is full buses passing you by. We waited 45 minutes for a Hollywood Studio bus one morning. We did, however, find leaving parks in the evening, the Caribbean Beach buses were prompt and we always got on one quickly.

That said, we really enjoyed this resort. It felt more adult and wasn't hugely expensive. We would definitely stay here again... and bring our own food and remember to also pack our patience.
