“A Great Stay”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 June 2014

My fourteen year old and twelve year son and I stayed for six nights and a great time. I took advantage of the early check-in online and after doing a lot of research on what others had said, requested Martinique as our choice of where to stay. We were on the second floor but that wasn't so bad especially since we were very close to a bus stop, a pool and not far from the main buildings. The rooms seemed a little dated but were clean and very comfortable. Our first night the battery in our door needed to be replaced and someone came within ten minutes to get us into our room.

It seems like for the money you are paying to stay at the resort that the bike rentals would have been complimentary instead of the $22/hour. We also would have liked to have had towel service at all the pools instead of just the main pool.

Overall it was a great stay.

I had such fond memories of disney as a child when I stayed at port Orleans. This hotel should not be moderate, it should be a value hotel. The beds are very uncomfortable. Mine had a spring that would bounce every time I moved. The walk to the main pool was way too far and the main pool was not as great as it looks on the website. Much smaller and less impressive. The other pools were a joke, just small rectangular and nothing special and still a walk. The bus rides were awful. I was six months pregnant with a 5 year old and several times had to stand 20+ minutes to get to magic kingdom on a rickety over-crowded bus. The staff was friendly. Nothing special about the cafeteria food. The towels were horrible!!! Oversized hand towels. So tiny and scratchy. The "beach towels" were no bigger than the bath towels and neither would fit around my pregnant belly. I will NEVER stay here again. I wish we would have just stayed near magic kingdom and spent the extra money. It was miserable walking to the bus stop, waiting, then riding forever on the uncomfortable buses. But nothing worse than the walk back after parks or dinners. Our bus stop always seemed to
Be the furthest. And then if it was a busy time you waited in line and stood going home. Was very stressful and exhausting and all I wanted was a comfy bed when I got back and it was hard, lumpy and tiny. I would highly recommend staying elsewhere!!!!!

All-around fun, clean resort. My kids loved the pool parties and campfires. The service was great. The food choices/taste/value are definitely lacking, we made every attempt to eat elsewhere. The rooms need some updating. For the money spent, our room should have been cleaner IMO. We had fun, but next time, I'll spend the extra for a better room somewhere else.

Room Tip: There are pirate themed rooms available.

This was the first time we have stayed within the Disney complex rather than International drive as we thought it would be easier for us & our 4 year old Son (we didn't want to drive)

The other reviews on here are pretty accurate, I have not that much more to add but a few details of our experience.

We were given a corner room in Martinique without even asking! I had planned to request this when we checked in but no need!
Room was ok, nothing flash but you're not paying for 5 star hotel so we were happy.
Clean, comfortable and adequate as we didn't spend that much time there.

Resort itself was nice with all the islands set around a lake. Great perks in being so close to Epcot, animal kingdom and Hollywood studios meant quick bus journeys, can see Epcot fireworks from the resort, buses every 10mins, nice children's play area and as with all Disney locations, the staff were uber polite and the whole area spotless.

8pm outdoor movie was a fab idea, we could rest our weary feet with a drink and our Son could settle down and watch a Disney favourite before (a very late!) bedtime.

We used the main pool and the local Martinique pool, a bit chilly but clean and well maintained. I liked that they had some children's life vests available to borrow at no charge at pool side.

Main complex was quick service dining and 1 seated restaurant. Since we were last in Disney we can see that there has been an effort to go healthIER but it's still pretty much heart attack on a plastic plate! Fruit bags, carrot bags and such for the children (I loaded up on these for snacks for my boy!) but predominately pretty calorific on the whole. For the sake of a 2 week holiday, go with the flow, you'll burn it off walking miles in the parks!
Standard of food was generally nice, relatively quick service, but portion sizes are huge!! We always forget this when we go to the US!

Food: if you are staying in Disney and/or spending a lot of time in the parks, you must, must get a meal plan! They were awesome and saved us a considerable amount of money. Don't bother working out the math, trust me it's worth it, at least go for the quick service plan which is the one we had, it was so quick, convenient, easy to manage and saved us mega bucks!!

The Magicbands were also awesome! Wrist band for everyone which meant our meal plan, park tickets, room key, fast passes and credit card registered when we checked in all were all linked to the band. Soooo easy and convenient and reduced what we had to carry around, secure too, my Son loved his 'Magic Mickey Band' and is a treasured momento.

Hey, you're going to Disney!! This resort is cost effective and convenient. It's a bit better than the value resorts and not as good as the deluxe ones! I would go back but if we get the opportunity we might try another resort just because there is so much choice and more to experience at Disney so it would be a shame not too :)

Stayed here for 2 weeks, unfortunately it wasn't as great as we'd expected it to be. The whole place looks old and dated and it really bothered us that our room didnt have a balcony as every caribbean hotel we've stayed in has one! As our son was ill for a couple of days, it wasnt nice being stuck in the room while he slept. Food was just ok, I had the yoghurt parfait every mornin which was lovely.
The pool area was another disappointment as it looked so much bigger in the brochure and the small amount of sunbeds meant we were constantly sitting on the floor. There werent enuf sunbeds for even half the hotel!
The movie at night was
lovely, as were the disney toiletries in the room. And most of the staff were super friendly.
Overall it was ok, you get what u pay for, but we wont be coming back.

We just got back from 4 nights at the Caribbean Beach Resort. In short, this is not a Moderate level resort, but rather a low quality motel style accommodation serving food worse that I have had anywhere. I heard so much about the ease and fun of staying on the Disney property, I am not sure why..just higher prices for lower quality and you still need to drive around to get access to decent food and services. On the positive side, the room and resort were very clean and pool space fun and ample. Bartenders at the pool bar were friendly and served good margaritas (even if they were $10 each). The pond and beach areas were pretty, but be warned, the "marina" is for renting bikes not boats or canoes. The resort is very large and services are only at the main building so be prepared to walk long distances unless you pay for the premium rooms. If considering packing you own snacks and drinks, be warned the rooms have no fridges.

Our problems with CBR started right away. We checked in around 12:30 am to extremely slow service. Other guests also checking in late were helped in less than 10 minutes. After almost 20 min, I asked if I could please just have our room so we could go to bed and I would worry about a failing band activation, computer glitches, etc in the morning.

Morning greeted us to discover that we had been assigned one of the furthest, poorly located rooms in the entire resort. This may have been due to late check in, but the resort was only 50% full so there must have been better rooms to offer?

When we drove to breakfast (it was too far to walk), choices were worse than one would expect at the free breakfast at a chain motel. The omelet was not made with fresh ingredients and the potatoes were reheated, not cooked fresh. My son's Mickey waffle was so hard it was impossible to eat. The coffee was very weak and low quality. When we went to pay for this, our bands were declined due apparently to the problematic check in.

Thankfully, a helpful concierge that first morning, successfully activated all of our bands, activated our charge card on the band, and switched our room to one better located but still within the same room category.

We had chosen to stay at the CBR so our son could enjoy the pirate pool and slides. But with the pumps broken and the pool closed, we swam for awhile in one of the smaller pools and then took off to visit other sites in Disney. Our excursion included a terrible, and overpriced lunch poolside at the Contemporary Hotel but a nice Ice Cream cone from the Disney Boardwalk Sweet shop. One tip is that the parking pass at CBR works at all the other resorts so you can go elsewhere to seek food.

Back at the CBR, we were sort of stuck late in the evening and hungry and found the pizza, while $16, was as passable as a cheap frozen pizza you could get at the grocery store. We managed to eat away from CBR after that until the last night when my son was really hungry and it was too late to head out to a restaurant so we thought we might try the pasta....who can screw up pasta....the baked ziti was a cheap microwave dinner with frozen sausages and canned sauce on top...almost inedible except that we had no other choices for food and we were hungry.

In short...if you want a "moderate resort" don't expect too much from CBR beyond a pretty setting and cleanliness. Certainly don't sign up for a meal plan. Find a way to eat anywhere else for every meal. The bus service is convenient to get to the resorts, but if you don't have a car, you are really trapped at this resort with few services near the actual rooms. I would not return to this and, based on the fact that Disney was not embarrassed by the poor check in service and comfortable serving nearly inedible food even at one of its "premier" resorts, I would not consider staying at a Disney resort ever again.

Room Tip: Premier rooms are located nearer to services. Otherwise, try to get in Aruba across the bridge to av...

We stayed here for 4 nights and had a very nice time. This was our second stay at this resort. Check-in happens in a separate building from the rest of the resort - the "Custom House" and the process was fast and the staff went out of their way to greet our 2 year old and even gave her a sparkly wand.
The resort is divided up into different communities of buildings surrounding a large lake. We were lucky to stay in the Trinidad North section which is one of the closest "communities" to the Old Port Royale building that contains the dining hall, gift shop, concierge, main swimming pool, and toddler/small child splash area. It was a quick and easy walk to meals and the pools. The Old Port Royale bulding has a nice outside area with umbrella tables, a fountain, etc and we spent most nights there waiting to watch the Epcot firework display that is semi-visible from the resort. They also do nightly movies in this area weather permitting and during a storm they move this indoors into a section of the dining hall.
The rooms were clean and spacious and there is plenty of parking available. The rooms are standard moderate resort Disney rooms - nothing especially luxurious, but not deficient and had what we needed. Our room had a table with two chairs, a king sized bed with plenty of pillows, a large bathroom/sink area with extra shelves for storage, two sink counter, and a full tub.
Our 2 year old really enjoyed the toddler splash area and the 3 water slides that they offer. The larger main pool also has 2 water slides, one of which she could also slide down, but the other was a more intense covered slide that wasn't toddler friendly. They were doing various kid related activites/games/etc at the pool every day we were there.
The food in the dining hall was standard Disney fare - we did not have anything that wasn't decent but would have liked a little more selection. There is also another table service restaurant available but we have yet to try it.
This resort is so large it has several Disney bus stops - one outside of each community of buildings. We had no problems getting on the buses, but we were not there on a high attendance weekend. I imagine there's a high potential to have some difficulty with buses being very full during peak visit times and with the resort being so large with so many bus stops.
This isn't may favorite Disney resort, but I would not hesitate to stay here again.

Room Tip: Request a room near the Old Port Royale bulding for the easiest access to dining and the main pool.
