We stayed at the WDW Polynesian the first week of June, 2011. We had an amazing vacation with our daughter and son-in-law and two granddaughters. The staff at the hotel could not have been more hospitable and helpful. The rooms were very nice and we were able to get adjoining rooms for our stay which was very convenient. The staff answered all questions and concerns readily and were anxious to help in any way. Will definitely stay there again!!

This was our first time staying at a Disney resort and was very disappointed in the upkeep. Beds had plywood under them for support, carpet was ripped, back of the door was dirty and banged up, and bathroom wallpaper was falling off due to water damage. Even the halls and elevator were not well maintained. Outside, it was very well kept and lots of staff. However, very surprised to find on a weekend morning holiday that the pool would be occupied with lifeguard training!

Another issue I should have checked on was there is no wi-fi and the Ethernet connection did not work in our room.

We stayed here partially on a free upgrade from Disney, and partially either on an anonymous gift from a friend, or from Disney. I think the 2nd part was a gift from a friend, as Disney took no credit for it, but either way it was amazing. It is VERY pricey and my family would never pay to stay here when there are the Value Resorts that are much more affordable - I'd rather a 10 day vacation, than a 2 or 3 day vacation. That being said, it is an absolutely gorgeous resort and so convenient to the parks. Monorail to Magic Kingdom/Epcot, buses elsewhere (these buses are shared with Contemporary & Grand Floridian resorts). So nice to watch the fireworks from the beach every night. Beautiful rooms, a bit hard to navigate the resort for the first day or so. Amenities are a bit nicer than the Value Resorts, but my next visit will be at a Value Resort. It did feel much more like a tropical vacation than you experience at the Value Resorts, but those are my home resorts and enjoy those as well. You can travel from other resorts & parks and visit this resort, and I will probably do this in the future. You can also come over just to watch the fireworks from the beach, which again, I'll probably do in the future. Beautiful resort, great "cast members" working there.

This is a great resort to stay at. Did online check in and our room was ready at 9:00 am when we arrived. Everyone was very nice and helpful, but we have found that to be true at all the Disney resorts. We had five in our room and found it to be comfortable. My 19 yr old son slept on the day bed and said it was great. We stayed in the Tolelau longhouse on the bottom floor facing the quiet pool. Every morning I was greeted by birds, ducks, squirls and bunnies. The grounds at this resort are beautiful, and the location is great for Magic Kingdom and Epcot. You won't want to whatch the fire works from the park. It's much better to whatch them from a beach chair at the resort and avoid the crowds. You could have a great vacation at the Poly and never leave the resort.

This was our second time at the Polynesian and this time we brought our friends who were in the room next door to us. The staff is very helpful, and the grounds are just beautiful. It's the proximity to Magic Kingdom and Epcot that you're paying for, but we think it's worth it. No need for a rental car as the Disney shuttle will do the airport transfer.

We had a regular room overlooking the marina area. We had two doubles and the room comes with a twin daybed that actually fit both of our children -- one head on each end. They were so exhausted, they just passed out every night. Very comfortable beds with soft pillows, and a spacious bathroom.

We ate breakfast at Capt Cook's every morning. The kiosk ordering system made it easy and the kids loved the mickey-shaped waffles. You can also walk a tray back to your room for anyone who's slept in.

The kids REALLY loved the volcano pool with waterslide. And the pina coladas at the beachside bar were excellent. Seems like it's hard to get a beach chair, but I was happy in the shade near the pool. You can rent pool cabanas also.

This was our second time to Disney with our kids, and we chose to upgrade to the Polynesian because our last experience (at the Port Orleans) left us unhappy about the bus service and the very, very, cramped room for a family of 5. It was absolutely worth the extra money. In fact, every time we go, we will choose the Polynesian. It took minutes to get to MK and EP. Even after a late night of parades and fireworks, we managed to get to the boat dock and had only a 15 minute wait. Comparing that with our last visit (in 2008), we waited 2 HOURS for a bus and got back to Port Orleans at midnight, exhausted from the long wait. But there are other reasons we love the Polynesian. Our room was amazing. We were placed in Tokelau on the 2nd floor facing the *quiet* pool (newly remodeled). Our room was recently remodeled with plenty of space for a family of 5. Our spacious sleeping arrangements and places for luggage storage and clothing arrangement won us over as much as the remodeling did. The bathroom was very nice and the counter was roomy. Add to that a large balcony and one of the prettiest views, you have a winning combo! We had wonderful Mousekeeping that made creations out of washcloths for us to keep (one was a girl decorated with hawaiian flowers that were glued onto it...very elaborate!) The *active* pool is a blast. We spent many hours there and enjoyed the whole ambience. It was just perfect. The hotel is also close to the Floridian, which is a fun place to go for a stroll or drink and to people watch. The nice workout room is available to Polynesian guests. The restaurants in the area are all very good, and the bus service to downtown disney, while slow (it is the bus, afterall), is only 20 to 30 minutes. The hotel employees were nice, too. One hotel employee spoke to us at length about disney and the different restaurants we should try. He then shared with us that he and his family only stay at the Polynesian because it has everything. To sum up, it was magical, and we did not want to leave! :-)

Family vacation and once again went to Disney. We were very happy with the polynesian and couldn't be happier with our vacation there. Check in was easy with very friendly staff and was a breeze. Initially was not happy with the room location, but later realized it was great...

Good:
1) Location to the magic kingdom transportation center is a 5 minute walk. (depending on where. We were at Tahiti and it is literally a short walk.)
2) Rooms are fairly large, 2 double beds, convertible sofa, 2 sinks. (Tahiti has the larger rooms and besides the suites building has the largest rooms on the property)
3) AC works great

Bad:
1) Property is huge and with the layout of different buildings strewn about, it gets to be a little hike to go to certain areas.
2) Pool was a little weak, you would think that a Disney property with kids in mind would have a larger pool.
3) Restaurant choices are too few, basically 2 sit down restaurants (Ohana, Kona)
4) Aloha luau show was horrible... The only good part was the fire guy which is the last 5 minutes of the show.

Overall though, considering dining is more at the parks, barely have time to swim, entertainment is everywhere. Polynesian is a nice place to stay. People complain about the decor and all, but I did not find that to be the case. It has a warmer feeling than the new decked out rooms. It feels right... not too much, and not a budget hotel. They do things right where it counts. If I had to choose again, I would stay at the Polynesian for the convenience of location and the larger rooms in the Tahiti building.

Room Tip: Tahiti has the larger rooms and face the park
