Our first Disney experience as a family. Our children are 10 and 5. The Polynesian is situated opposite the Magic Kingdom which allows for amazing views of the incredible nightly fireworks display.

We stayed in the Tokelau lodge in a family room that easily accommodated 4 of us. Room was of a high standard with a good bathroom, ceiling fans and A/C.

The Poly resort is fab, 2 nice pools one quiet and one livelier Volcano Pool; our 5 yr old son adored both!

Being on the monorail circuit puts the Magic Kingdom minutes away - very handy.

It's not cheap, but there were enough touches and conveniences that made a difference. We're not your typical Disney bods but I would say if you're going and you can afford it, you may as well go all in.

I was fortunate enough to visit this property recently. The short story is we had a great time. The rooms were clean, the location was great on the monorail. Access to other parks by bus took some time, and food options were limited. Overall, I would love to stay again.

The long story with detail for those of you whom are interested follows. After arriving at the airport we used the Magical express service. It is located at the extreme far end of the terminal on the bottom floor. Prepare for a walk. After that, the bus drivers will wait for a full bus to depart. This typically takes up-to 20 minutes. You will be on a combined bus with passengers for the Poly, Contemporary and Grand Floridian. After you arrive at the hotel, you will be greeted and checked in by friendly staff and given leis. It took around 3 hours for our checked luggage to arrive in our room. We would recommend packing pool gear in your carry-on baggage so you have something fun to do once you arrive.

Our room was one of the newly renovated ones. It was very nice, and had two sinks, a fridge, two closets, an iron, and a safe. It was a third floor room in the Fiji building and had a partial view of the Lagoon. It was very quiet except when neighbors were extremely loud, or when the Luau was going on each night. We had a balcony which we could listen to the Luau from. Very nice overall.

Getting to MK and Epcot were a breeze. The monorail is awesome. It is what makes the Poly worth the price. Within 5 minutes the train comes and whisks you away. The only time we had problems was at peak times like the period after the MK fireworks or the Epcot show. Transportation to the other parks left something to be desired. Long waits for extremely cramped buses was not fun. I wish Disney would consider extending the monorail to other parks, because bus transit is not ideal or very functional. Alternatively, the buses are shared today. Which meant that they were always full and there was always a line. They need to make the premium resorts like the Poly direct connections.

The magic band system was great. However, there were a couple misses we were able to observe. First, don't plan on being able to ditch your wallet. Disney hasn't integrated your age into the magic band so you will still need to carry your ID everywhere you want to drink. Also we discovered that the shop in the Poly sells wine, but does not sell openers. This is a big miss. The shop had a communal opener that they allowed us to use. Don't forget or you will be in for a long walk to unkork.

The pools at the poly are great, one smaller "adult" pool which was quieter and full of kids. The other one is the Volcano pool. The beach near the edge is a fantastic place to watch the MK fireworks at night.

And then there is the food. Unfortunately, due to the introduction of the reservation system, spontaneity is not allowed at Disney any more. It becomes very difficult to get a non-quick-service meal within the hotel. Breakfast is a little easier at Kona cafe, but good luck getting lunch or Dinner. Poly and Disney need to reconsider this, as it is a huge loss. As a hotel guest, I expect that I can get a sit down meal within the hotel at any time. That is not the case. Also consider the meal plan, it is a great option for those whom aren't planning on eating much quick service.

One last note, we encountered a talking Mickey! He is inside the Town Hall building immediately on the right hand side of Main Street USA when you enter the Magic Kingdom. Definitely worth seeing!

Overall, the staff was great. The location was great. The rooms were great. The food was great. I can't wait for my next Disney vacation.

Room Tip: Call the Disney reservations number 2 weeks prior to trip to request a King bed if necessary. The nu...

The location and easy access to the Magic Kingdom are by far the best things about the Polynesian. The rooms are clean and spacious with two king size beds as standard, but the rooms are not well lit. There is a fridge and coffee maker, useful for breakfast time esp. if you have children. Considering the room can take 4 people there is insufficient storage - my hubby had to live out of his case! The whole Disney experience is very slick...until it goes wrong. It took about 40 minutes to check in, we had several problems with the new wristband system (so you can charge things to your room/get in to disney parks etc). There is a lot of work being carried out at the Polynesian, we were assured that it wouldn't affect us at all but inevitably it did - noise from building works, the kids club was closed and the casual dining was in a temporary smaller room with no windows! The disney dining plan is a v good idea - we didn't book it as it wasn't explained to use very well, but I wish we had as it is more economical than buying as you go. All in all a mixed review - Disney is always a happy place to be but I wouldn't stay at the Polynesian again.

Great hotel. Loved the hotel being on the tram stop. 5 minutes to get to and from the front gates of the park. The hotel has a laundry facility which was great because we were on a 2 week vacation and needed to do laundry. The hotel was very clean and room was nice.

Room Tip: We had a regular king room with daybed and was an excellent room for 3 people. Friends on the same...

I've stayed at the Polynesian several times with my husband and now 10 year old daughter. Nothing beats it for location and convenience. The rooms are nice, and I think the bathrooms have been updated since my last stay. Whenever we plan a trip to Disney we consider staying at another property, but then book at the Polynesian anyway. I highly recommend it!

Room Tip: every building has it's strengths and weaknesses, so we never bother choosing... and we always e...

We had the magical kingdom view from our room, absolutely amazing. Every evening you are treated to fireworks and lights on the lake. The room itself comfortably sleeps 5, and the facilities are what you would expect from a 4 star resort. At all times all members of staff were always smiling and helpful throughout the resort. The resort is set on a Polynesian theme, with volcanoes and fountains and hawaiin themes throughout.

The one drawback was the lack of vegetarian food available, luckily we had rented cars, so we drove out for food. Parking for guests at the resort is free and there is plenty available.

The pool was always busy, but we always managed to find loungers. The best thing was there were always plenty of lifeguards on duty throughout the day. So the kids were left to play without ant worries.

The location is superb, there was a monorail to Magical Kingdom and Epcot. and regular Bus services to all the other parks. The Polynesian also has a Ferry Boat service to the Magical Kingdom Park which is only a 15 minute boat ride away.

So I would highly recommend this resort and stay again.

Room Tip: If in the budget choose the Magical Kingdom View!

We stayed for 2 nights and how we wish it was longer. This is definitely our favourite Disney hotel and we can't wait to go back. The rooms are large, spacious, clean and well appointed with lovely touches from Mousekeeping. The bathrooms in particular were luxurious and had lots of space.

Disney does theming so well and the Poly is no exception, the buildings and gardens were all beautifully landscaped and we loved the pool and beach. The beach itself was the perfect place to watch Wishes each night - lying back on a sun lounger, sipping a glass of wine watching the fireworks is a very relaxing and magical way to end the day.

Check-in was seamless and we were extremely pleased to be upgraded to concierge level and stayed in the Hawaii building. The complimentary breakfast, drinks and snacks were really appreciated and we loved the lounge overlooking the lagoon and castle. I would consider paying for this as we enjoyed it so much.

The staff were really friendly too - the warm cookies each afternoon when we returned from the theme parks was really welcome and everyone we met was so delightful. Being on the mono rail for both Magic Kingdom and Epcot was so handy and we also found the bus service to be very efficient.

We did eat in both the Kona Cafe and Ohanas and whilst both were good we though the food and service were better in the Kona Cafe. We had a great server in there and I wish I could remember her name - she was working on the night 23 October at 6.30pm and we sat on the left of the entrance.

All in all an wonderful place to spend my 40th birthday - very magical and we are saving up to visit again.
