We camp at Tomoka several times a year as it is close to our home in NSB. Sites are very Shady and some are very big. Several back up to the river but with probably 30 yards of foliage in between so you do have to walk through vegetation. Great biking and fishing. Close to Ormond Beach and city. Many bars in Ormond so you will not go thirsty. Great boat ramp and kayak launch. Lots of waterways to kayak. You have to go to the Outpost and see the yukalalee lady (Dani) and her performance along with her husband. Sounds corny but it is very entertaining and very laid back with lots of audience participation. Pets are welcome and they have fire rings. Bathrooms are kept clean. As most places in FL bring bug spray in the summer as the gnats get bad at dusk but subside at night. Camping tip for those who have to have a campfire even in 90 degree temp like we do, bring a box fan and face it at you. It will keep you cool, blow the smoke away from you, and keep the gnats away...So if you want a nice peaceful camping experience try Tomoka.
