My husband and I stayed a weekend in June and it was just great! It's very clean and the bed was comfortable. My husband had a problem with his laptop and Keith and Hannah jumped right in and helped him, even going so far as to run an anti-virus on the computer. The hotel is on the beach with awesome views! Grills, picnic tables, outside shower, lounge chairs, Publix, banks across the street, you got it! I recommend this motel to anyone who wants to spend some time on the beach and just enjoy! It is no frills, but there were plenty of clean towels, a full size fridge and pet friendly! Thank you Keith,Hannah and Keith's Dad for all your help. Next time we will get an ocean front room!

Thanks to Hannah and Keith the young, positively cheerful and friendly hosts; yes hosts, we were able to get everything we hoped for during our one week stay from May 13 to May 20. This Motel is basic, but includes the basics of everything you need to live simply and comfortably at a non crowded beach. Plenty of towels and more than adequate Corelle crockery; perfectly light to hold and microwave with. Even extra bags for waste and an arrangement for recycling. The hot water was the hottest we have experienced and good pressure. Critical little things like dish detergent, hand and bath soaps, even a chef knife. The TV, if one has time for it, had more channels than one needs. Hannah was only too pleased to make sure our room was refreshed if we needed it. We took a drying rack as we used the beach twice a day. Nothing like unattended solar energy.

If we head down to the Atlantic cost of Florida in future, this motel will be hard to resist.

Room Tip: Since we prefer to cook fresh, the Publix supermarket at the mall across the street really came in h...

Back in the day I used to work as a pool lifeguard at mom and pop motels like this one, selling Hawaiian Tropic for Ron Rice at the beginning of that company. Ah the memories... But back to the present! My wife and I stayed here when we were visiting my mom. We wanted an ocean front room and they had one available. So lovely to wake up to the sunrise over the waves, pull on a suit and dive in. The beaches up in Ormond are never crowded and the sand is clean. As for the room, well the beds aren't necessarily the most comfortable I've ever slept in and the amenities are few (no restaurant, no pool - except the Atlantic) but it is all about the location and the value - which are both stellar. Hence five stars.

Room Tip: There are only two that completely face the ocean. Get one!

My husband and I spent 5 nights the beginning of April to see if the location was anywhere we might want to move to, we had a wonderful stay and Keith and Hannah were great kids, you couldn't have found more friendlier people. We thought the location was great. We met alot of people from all over the country that were just as friendly. The sunrise was great at 7 in the morning with a cup of coffee and the chairs provided for each room on the deck.We definately will return, although we know that 20 rooms go very quickly and the prices were great also. !!!The rooms were very pleasant nothing elaborate but clean thanks to Hannah ! Always smiling..truly a hidden gem .. Can't wait to sell and move to Ormond by the Sea.... :-)

Room Tip: The second floor is the best for the ocean views

We booked this motel based on tripadviser reviews and price. What a gem! It is right on the beach. The owners are FANTASTIC!!! They are there for anything you need. I feel bad that I never got the name for the young women that cleans our room every day, but she is such a sweetheart. Our room was immaculate every day and she was always smiling and asking us how we were doing. Keith, one of the owner's, is also great. He helpful with any questions you may have. We met ALOT of return visitors. There is actually a man that has one of the oceanfront rooms book for this week for the next 5 years!! The only reason I know this is because I tried to book it already for next year. This place is so great! We have now booked rooms for my mom, brother and his family, and my sister and her family along with us again for next year. The view from any room is beautiful. The beach is gorgeous and quiet. It is also pet friendly, but you would never know that. We were going to bring our 3 cats, which they did not have a problem with, and were only going to charge $100 for the week. There is a Publix right across the street which was convenient. The only area that I would improve on, though it did not effect our enjoyment at all are: very small tubs, windows do not open so you have to keep door open for a breeze and to hear the ocean and parking is kind of tight. Cannot wait to bring the extended family here next year!

Room Tip: Try to get a kitchen room or better yet, oceanfront kitchen room- those book up fast!

We needed a one-nighter in the Ormond Beach area. Based on "bruce h" review, we chose the Sun Deck. I loved his description of a "stay reminiscent of Florida from the 50s or 60s..." as I loved the old mom-and-pop motor court atmosphere. As bruce said, it's not for the luxury seekers or those who can't stay anywhere that is not pristine and new, but we loved it. The little touches were not overlooked: plates, glasses and utensils provided and stored on top of the microwave, even with a little bottle of Dawn dishwashing detergent. Coffee pot with coffee provided. Great price. Nice little chairs with a table outside of each room. Rooms were clean and bed was comfortable. Loved the old tongue-and-groove woodwork. Wonderful pier right down to the waterfront. Parking is a little tight if you have a large vehicle. Such a classic. I walked out in the morning to take some photos of the sunrise and spent a great deal of time talking to a gentleman from Jacksonville who was staying the weekend with his wife. He said that they come down (90 miles) several times a year and always stay at the Sun Deck. To me, that says it all -- a local who frequents.

1st off, this is not for the yuppies, guppies or luxury seekers. BUT if u want a stay reminiscent of Florida from the 50's or 60's but with TV and wifi, this is the place. Warm and friendly staff. Room 211 is a wonderful ocean front room with double beds and a full kitchen, average size bathroom, but with a tremendous view of the ocean. No pool, but what the heck! There is a massive ocean out front! This is the way to go.
