Marsha was our docent and gave a remarkable tour. History, archaeology, scenic beauty combine to provide a very good experience.

“A hidden Gem”
Reviewed 1 March 2012

A great place to take a tour and learn about the history of the area. Beautiful grounds and plants and flowers. Seeing the sign from the road you don't realize what is back there. Well worth the tour.

“Historic but not Spanish”
Reviewed 23 February 2012

A family from the north was looking for farmland with fresh water in a southern clime and in Key West a Spanish man suggested a plot in the Sarasota area on the water but with a fresh water spring, a rarity. The family came, claimed, farmed and flourished on what is now prime real estate in the Intracoastal. Listen to the video in the Visitor Center and arrange for a guide to show you the historic property. Allow enough time since this is more than meets the eye from Tamiami Trail. Often the docents dress in period costume to demonstrate just how the settlers looked and behaved in Florida's pre-air-conditioned and wild era.

“historical site”
Reviewed 20 February 2012

My husband and I take visitors to Historic Spanish Point and love it. We did not take the tour guide but went exploring on our own. Wonderful trails to walk and the point of interest signs are wonderful. You can spend several hours there to see everything and soak up the history.

“A bit of history”
Reviewed 19 February 2012

We have been quite a few times with our children when they were younger. The place has programs that allow you to discover and learn about the old Florida ways.
