Henry Flagler put Palm Beach on the map as a winter destination for Northeastern millionaires at the end of the 19th century. The Breakers was a later beachfront version of his original Royal Poinciana Hotel (1894), which was located on the intercoastal waterway. The Royal Poinciana met its demise in 1934. I own many pieces of the beautiful Victorian wicker furniture which graced its porches, as my husband's family moved to the area in the 1920's and bought several properties on the waterway. The history is fascinating

The Breakers suffered two fires, and was rebuilt in its present state in 1926. It survived the Great Depression, and has continued to thrive until this day.

The architecture is stunning, the views unparalleled, and the rooms luxurious.

It is far from inexpensive, but then, few things in Palm Beach are.

The numerous hotels and resorts that claim to be in Palm Beach are, for the most part, actually in points South, such as Lake Worth.

The Breakers in an authentic Palm Beach experience, if you can afford it. If you're going to go, you might as well do it right... although off-season rates are the best!

escaped to palm beach for a first time trip to the breakers...first off the property is massive... couple of tips..the photos of the beach are deceiving.. do yourself a favor and head to the south pool.... the servers are attentive although on a busy weekend its not so easy to get a drink(order a double maybe?).. make sure you head to HMF for some sushi/tapas and cocktails; as well as some first class people watching..This place is a1 for a quick jaunt to florida from the northeast.
Not sure i would bring the kids...

If you are looking to find a very special hotel that treats each and every guest as a very special guest than this is The Place. We were there for a meeting recently, but unlike many hotels that become known as "meeting hotels" its charm and class was apparent from the moment we stepped out of the Taxi.

The grounds are spectacular and impeccably maintained. The food is excellent, and the service is what we remembered the most. Please do yourself a favor and treat yourself to a weekend at this hotel.

Room Tip: As for a room that is not overlooking the roof. And do not check in too early. The best rooms seem...

Just returned from a meeting with clients at the Breakers hotel. All in all it was a good experience. The property is historic, very well maintained and offers some very attractive venues.

This time our group experienced some fairly intense construction immediately adjacent to the pool and beach. We did have a construction clause in our contract however this was never mentioned and I must say many of our group commented on the noise. It was hard to hold a conversation by the pool or at lunch when they were cutting tile on the roof. Very loud and kilss the relaxation element.

Bungalows by the pools are the best I have seen and worth the splurge. Very nice and fill up fast so book early. Service was very good and it is a great way to spend a day by the pool/beach.

Circle Lounge just off the lobby was a nice place to hang out and people watch. We enjoyed our first night there just sampling small plates and having some drinks. Emily gave exceptional service and made the evening fun for me, my wife and our son. Returned with our group on another night and it was fun and enjoyable.

Meeting facilities are good. Difficult to book a meeting room overnight as the hotel is quite busy with weddings, meetings etc but Magnolia room worked for our group. Hotel had trouble regulating temperature as it was about 65 in the room. Got it right by the last day of our event.

Food and catering prices are among the highest I have seen ($165 person for a buffet). And while the food quality was good to above average the value for the price was not there. Took a group of 50 to Flagler Steak house and had an excellent dinner our second night for less $$$.

All in all will return with another group but I gave 4 stars for the history, location and ambiance of the property. would give service, food and offering 3 stars.

I am giving it 4 stars largely because of the beautiful grounds and location. The room was standard and nothing special in comparison to other 5-star properties. The TV in the bathroom was broken. Also, thought the restaurant food was mediocre at best and overpriced. However, the history of the hotel, and beautiful grounds really make this a one of a kind experience.

The Breakers is at the top of my list ! There is nothing about this fabulous hotel that is not perfect. We have been to the Breakers many times over the years and it's always a treat. The rooms are lovely, the service impeccable, food delicious, views beautiful and the ambiance is like no other. This place is and always will be one of our favorite places to visit , it's a class act . Our family loves this treasure!

This is a beautiful property and is very expensive. So we were disappointed to see the behavior of the guests in the Circle, dining room, during the breakfast buffet, was worse than kids staying at an economy hotel for a soccer tournament. Children running around, teenage girls without cover-ups, mothers spraying sunscreen, folks loudly complaining that the waiter did not speak spanish, a three year old dancing and singing for a birthday, - and the behavior ran over to the beach areas folks leaving trash etc, The behavior improved during the week days.

On the positive the facilities are outstanding, the staff is tolerant and very good, our room was lovely ( no evening turn down), and every bite of food was out of this world.

Room Tip: the ocean views are well worth the extra money
