“Delightful Staff”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 March 2010

We stayed at Hampton Inn PBG for three nights in early March. We ended up here because the Embassy Suites was fully booked, but we were really delighted with the Hampton Inn's service and value. The staff was exceptionally friendly from the point we made a phone reservation up to the time we checked out.

We booked the "suite" because we had a small child and needed a separate space for her to go to bed, as well as a kitchenette to prepare meals for her. The separating wall between the bedroom and living room doesn't go all the way up to the ceiling, but we were warned about that when we made the reservation, and it worked out fine.

The rooms are clean and adequate but a bit oddly laid out - the bed is towards the front door, and the seating area towards the window, so if you have guests in your room it's a bit awkward. The suite also had a strange bathroom - with two toilets and only one sink. In general the rooms were fine, if a bit dark. But clean, which is what really mattered to us.

All other amenities, including breakfast, were typical Hampton Inn fare. The staff, however, went above and beyond to make us feel at home. Wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

Spentchristmas eve night reconnecting with a long lost friend. I live in the area so I kind of knew what to expect and by reading other reviews. The room was very spacious for two people and the bed was super soft. Checking in was only 5 minutes. Room was super clean.

I had a business conference that was being held in the Marriott across the street and I didn't reserve early enough to be in the Marriott, which turned out to be a good thing. The Hampton was clean and quiet. The desk staff were cheerful and happy to answer questions about restaraunts and directions to the beach. The property was just a 10 minute walk to the Legacy Shopping center that had restaurants, grocery and other shopping.

My room was on the 4th floor at the end of the hall overlooking the courtyard adjacent to the pool. Beds were comfy and there was a fridge and microwave, coffemaker in room. My room had 2 double beds as well as a sofa bed (most of my colleagues had identical rooms). It was always really quiet. There was free breakfast that included cereals, eggs, sausage, fruit, coffee, bagels, muffins, oatmeal, hot chocolate and teas. In the afternoon there were chocolate chip cookies and then cheese, crackers, chips & salsa, wine, beer and soda. Free wi-fi in the room and a computer on the first floor with a printer so that you could print your boarding pass before heading to the airport. Each room had the usual shampoo, conditioner...but you could get all kinds of toiletries at the front desk for free if you had forgotten something.

The pool was pleasant with plenty of lounges, but there is no hot tub. The in-house fitness room had 2 nice treadmills and a few other pieces of equipment along with a big TV. I was told at the front desk that I could use the gym at the university across the street which some of my colleauges took advantage of, but I didn't feel the need to try it.

Only complaint was that the lighting in the bathroom was a bit dim (using a single fluorescent fixture to save energy). I paid $144 per night.

I am thoroughly impressed with this hotel. My wife and our two children were treated like Royalty. When we checked in we were given hot choclate chip cookies. My kids were thrilled. Our room was huge. I think they made a mistake. It was nicer than my own bedroom I am sorry to say. The wait staff in the morning made sure my family had a great breakfast and treated us like family. Also, there were these great water fountains by the pool. It was amazing. We swam all day and enjoyed the stores by the mall. Great golf in the area as well, close to the hotel. I also had to take care of some business on our trip and they had a nice business area. Quiet with free internet. I love that. We were sorry to go it was truly a "Florida Fiesta".

We stayed at this hotel for 4 years in a row over March break. The first 2 years it was great, beautiful gardens, very clean and well maintained. The next 2 years were very different. The pool was kept quite cool and when we asked the manager to warm it up so our children could make use of it, we were told that is quite expensive to do. We decided to try it one more year because the first 2 years were so good. But we had problems again with the pool being kept at lower temperatures and it was not cleaned on a daily basis. We also had items stolen from our room and when we discussed this with the manager he was not that helpful and advised us against contacting the police. The flowers decorating the hotel were beautiful out front of the hotel but in the pool area, it had been left neglected and there were weeds. Pool is next to parking lot and behind hotel there is alot of construction going on.
Best thing about hotel is the location...close to highway and shopping. It is also not a busy hotel. But if you are looking for a nice hotel where you can use the pool, this is not the place for you.
