Palm Beach Shores Resort & Vacation Villas
Reviewed 29 October 2013 via mobile

We were "OK" with the room. Kitchen way too small of it matters to you. Great view if you can avoid the dumpster and restaurant smells. It was quiet in the room, but pool very crowed and noisy with the bar. The beach is pretty decent with cabanas free of charge. Another negative is they hound you daily for time here presentation (although we own it already.) Five me a break. Free gift! right!

We had a very clean room, clean resort everywhere. The pool area is really nice, however, get their early to get your spot marked or there will not be any chairs available. The beach was clean and even tho the chairs and umbrellas are pricey we did rent for two days out of our 7 day stay. Avoid sitting straight off the wood board walk, that is where they bring the tours for the timeshare speeches, unless you want to hear the same thing over and over again.
The beach service is good but again very pricey. The gratuity of 18% is added in the bill. So regardless of service you pay the tip. The restaurant food was just okay and again expensive for the quality and service we recieved, I had Lobster it was dry and husband had fish and chips just ok. Only ate there one time, learned our lesson. The room even tho clean and we did have an ocean view, we were overlooking the parking lot for guest and staff. Very noisy in the early morning with staff laughing and smoking and car alarms beeping. Recommend to stay on the opposite side of parking. We were here in the down season so not over crowed, would not want to be here in the season. Elevators were slow enough with no crowd. I do have to say the reception desk was friendly and helpful. We avoided any tours and did not answer our phone and threw the flyers that were left under our door away. Overall we had a relaxing time and enjoyed the sailfish marina. The food was excellent but again expensive, But worth it.

Room Tip: Avoid the side with the parking lot. To much noise.

Ok so I don't think much of this place and, unfortunately, I am an owner. Staff can be difficult, beach manager pays attention only if you are blond, 20's and in a thong, restaurant pricey and not good, they say non- smoking facility but have ash trays on every patio, tiki hut is a smokers only hang out for locals and on and on

Room Tip: North tower odd numbers above 2nd floor or all you see is cement railing when sitting

Thank you for sharing your experience. We’re disappointed that you were having an issue submitting your reviews. Tripadvisor is a third party site and businesses that are reviewed here have no say in what is published. We’re sorry that we weren’t able to meet your expectations while vacationing with us. Normally we receive many compliments on our attentive staff and we regret that we could not provide you with the same level of service. Our rooms are smoke-free, but guests are allowed to smoke outdoors, which also includes the tiki bar. We hope you give us another chance to exceed your expectations and prove that Palm Beach Shores is a great place to stay for a beach vacation.

Some points – this place can be great if:

Third time here – I know this place…;)

• Advise the public relations desk / parking pass you want no sales calls or fliers – period upon arrival.
• Avoid the time-share scam like a plague (buy one on-line for pennies on the dollar if you really want one)
• If your parents or grandparents are going here, be sure to warn them of the time-share scam – they are waiting for old folks like sharks for chum - truly.
• Get your beach stuff / chairs at Wings – 2 blocks away and set a few feet off their exclusive revenue stream area of chair rental – total rip-off.
• Go to the grocery and liquor store a block away and run your bar from your room – drinks are watered down and a huge rip-off.
• The restaurant and bar are terrible (how dry can lobster be - is this dehydrated??) – go across the street to the local restaurants in other folks reviews including the bagel place which is great.

Use this facility, like it uses its potential timeshare customers and wants to use you – it is truly beautiful and you can easily avoid all the pot-holes, rip-offs and hassles – just read these reviews and plan ahead. They are not your friend - they want all the money they can take - expect to be charged eventually per toilet paper square....:)

Room Tip: Call ahead or get trash.

My husband and I stayed here for our 30th wedding anniversary. It was wonderful. I was a little nervous after reading some of the reviews, but I can honestly say that our experience exceeded expectations. I called a month ahead and asked if it was possible to get an ocean view room. They couldn't promise, but when we checked in, we were given a corner room with beautiful ocean views. We declined to participate in the timeshare meetings and taking the advice of a previous trip advisor review, unplugged the phone. Hotel staff were very nice and friendly as was the hotel restaurant staff. We did a 3 day beach chair/umbrella rental and ordered lunch on the beach - loved that! The Publix is across the Heron Bridge for groceries and we can say with absolutely certainty that we found nothing shady about any of the areas near the resort, the bridge, etc. Since you are paying for it anyway, definitely take advantage of the valet service. Our car was always available as soon as we got to the lobby and the valet staff were always friendly and offering directions if needed. Definitely eat a the 2 Drunken Goats restaurant that is a short walk from the resort. We definitely will be back - it appears October was the best time to come. Weather was perfect and it was not too crowded.

Room Tip: Ocean view corner rooms are the best.

The hotel itself is very nice, large, and located right over the Blue Heron Blvd bridge to Singer Island. The rooms are big but a little dated, as is the hotel. But its clean and the kids will love the pool and easy beach access. Shop the place on the internet, every once in awhile they have great low priced sales and you can get a room for about 150.00. The pool side Tiki bar is where all the action is and the attractive waitresses will bring drinks to you pool side. Nice. The restaurant is pretty good in the place and offers some great specials. The Hotel is also right across the street from Johnny Longboats, an iconic indoor/outdoor bar that has great breakfast and offers nightly entertainment while you eat dinner. Back to the hotel. The Palm Beach Shores is a time share and the sales people are constantly running tours and high pressure sales all day every day. Stay away or you will be trapped for about 4 hours. If you avoid them, then you should have a nice time at the place.

Room Tip: Stay clear of Timeshare tours promising you cash or free meals if you take them. Not worth the 4 hou...

I'm going to preface this review.....I am NOT an owner. I swear on my parents graves. Really! OK So I lied a bit. Really I give this resort 4 Stars. Let's face it though, everyone loves to read a bad review so I posted my review here instead. I'll start by saying that, sure people will have a bad experience at a hotel/resort somewhere, sometime, but to say "Never go there" or not going back is kinda ridiculous. Because when we went, the resort was almost full and it is off season now. So what does that tell ya? Yeah it must suck right? We were booked into a lower floor room, but when we asked to get moved up, the Manager came over, looked through the reservations and found us a 1 bedroom on the 6th floor. The room was perfect. It was bright, it was clean, it was roomy, (Huge bathroom which was a bit odd, but OK with me.) it was fine. Only complaint I had was the lock off door. You could hear the people next door through it. They need sound proofing of some kind, for more privacy if ya know what I mean...Wink, Wink...The employees were outstanding. Everyone was friendly and kind. (And if you don't like time share sales people....Just don't go. Pretty simple. Just say no. Get on with your life and your vacation.) The cleaning and changing of towels everyday was also not a normal experience for us. Usually it towels once a week kinda thing. But these ladies came everyday for the trash, changed out dirty towels, swept the floor etc. Changed linens on Thursday too. The valet parking is well worth the $6.00 a day. I mean come on, the cost of the insurance on the rental car to cover scratches is more than that. And who wants to go running for a car in 90 degree weather anyhow. Plus when you come rolling in at midnight do you really want to be stumbling around in the parking lot looking for a spot to park? Yeah the beach chairs seems to be an issue with a lot of people. Hmmm why were all the beach chairs booked up all week then?
And the beach attendants were great. Nice guys and gals. Saw them up every morning at 6 am cleaning the pool area and setting up on the beach. We heard the Tiki Bar was coming down and a new one going up this week. So be prepared if you go after the 14th of October. We ate at many of the suggested places in the reviews. All were pretty good. Went to City Place and the Sail Fish Marina etc..Buy food at the Publix across the bridge but be prepared they are not what I call cheap. They do have wine there though so after a bottle or two who cares right? LOL. So whatever. We had fun. Great people there. Nice and clean. Even had a Falcon or hawk land on our balcony railing. You can't beat the sunrise every morning. And if you don't want to rent the beach chairs just move over a few yards onto the public beach. Not a life changing event. God...How many people need to complain about the beach chairs? Just like with the sales people, just don't rent the chairs. Go to the public beach. The sand is the same for crying out loud. And again if $6.00 a day for parking is going to kill you, you probably should be on food stamps or something and not going on vacation.....Go to Palm Shores. Have fun, and stop sweating the little things in life.
Oh and last comment about the person in one of the reviews saying they recorded some of the sales pitches....You know that is illegal unless you told them you were recording them right? Just sayin'.....So who is worse now, you or the sales people? Yeah.....YOU!

Room Tip: #638 was good. Not right on the ocean but we are not owners so expected to be further away. But we w...

Thank you for sharing your experience with us. We obviously believe we provide a wonderful Florida vacation for our travelers, but it’s always nice to hear that our guests think so too! We have a vendor that will supply beach equipment for a fee, but guests are free to use their own at the beach area that is north or south side of the resort. This area is not the public beach, as it is well within the resort’s private beach area that offer food and beverage service. The Tiki Bar thatch roof is being replaced October 28th and the work will take approximately seven days weather contingent. During this time the outside Tiki bar will be closed. The inside bar will be open all day (same hours as the Tiki Bar) with the same happy hour specials during this time. We’re excited about this project as our tiki bar will look refreshed and enhance the tropical feel! Thank you again for sharing your review and your photos (LOVE the hawk photo!) and we look forward to welcoming you again to our slice of paradise at Palm Beach Shores Resort.
