“Horrible!!! Do Not Stay Here!!!”
Reviewed 29 March 2009

This place is a joke don`t get ripped off!!! Upon arrival we pull up to the office and there is a sign saying that they were closed on our arrival day!?!? After a few minutes we see the manager lady (if you even want to consider her a manager) she did not care what we had to say, and she just yells "READ THE SIGN WERE CLOSED SEE YOU TOMMORROW!!" Keep in mind we just had drove 14 hours to get to our hotel and they somehow decide to close on our check in day, so we had to call the corporate office after being ignored by the manager for 15 minutes she comes to the door and says "oh sorry are you guys here to check in?" When checking in she began naming off all these additional fees that we were not informed of she said you paid the website you booked your reservation with but now you have to pay us, it was near 600 dollars additional fees/deposit and we would only get back about 400, they charge 100 dollars to clean the room just once, and also they keep 50 dollars of the deposit and they have no idea why she just said she can only guess that its because they were busy and needed money for paying overtime (it should not be the guests responsibility to pay the employees salary). When she let us in to check in she locked the door behind us and there were several people coming up to the door giving us mean looks because it was locked, she did not care she just said is someone still out there. The phone was ringing and the manager told the other worker to just unplug it. The room was very cheaply done the bedspread reminded me of those blankets you throw over furniture in a moving truck to keep it from getting scratched and everything was newer but it was in bad condition. The next day my friend walks by a security guard and he asks him where his wristband is and says he could be kicked out for not wearing it (we were never given one). So we go down to the office and are stopped by a security guard that was at first only going to let one of us in but finally he let us both in and we asked the worker inside if this wristband thing is a new policy that started today and she said "no i apologize on bookit`s behalf for not telling you about the wristbands" (it was cabana cays fault for checking us in and not giving us wristbands but they blame EVERYTHING wrong on bookit) I asked them why if they are having so many problems with bookit why do they have a separate room with signs that say come book with bookit , While standing in and outside the office EVERY person that was there was complaining, people would just walk by and say "are you guys getting screwed too"? After a few minutes of being in the office the so called manager says guys lets all just have the main guest in here even though i was waiting on a wristband and she even made a family take their kids outside. My friend was just calmly telling the woman that their is way to much miscommunication between the booking company and the hotel and the manager said hey guys lets go outside and talk (where her security guy was) she walks us outside and stands next to him and says literally two words and goes back inside!! ( what kind of manager just basically shoves people out the door and gives them to security for having a complaint??? She should be fired this is the most unproffesional place ever!! We stayed only one night and cancelled our reservation, we moved to a nice motel that was actually near somewhere and on the beach, cabana cay is far across the street from the beach im talking through walmart sized parking lot and then through a grocery store parking lot and across a busy street the view from our room was the back of a grocery store!! Dont let them fool you even the pier is atleast two miles from the place nothing is in walking distance whatsoever!! They just blame everything on the site you book with and take no responsibility for anything and are just downright rude!! Thanks for ruining my vacation cabana cay!!

This place just is downright terrible. We went down for spring break and there is really nothing there...No view of beach just a wasteland. The security is ridiculous, we had 4 noise complaints and were never told about it. There are quiet hours and the pool is the only decent thing but its not even finished. The rooms were just bad...Everything in it was cheap and made of pressboard. The mattresses were terrible, the bunk beds were made for people under 5 foot. The shower curtains fell when we first got in.. They don't provide fresh towels or toilet paper. There is no storage for people. The decks are alright but there is a huge step to walk out onto which you will hit everytime. You have to pay for the internet. The rooms are not like they are advertised. They give you actual keys and if you lose them there is a 25 dollar charge..just a scam.

Just don't go here there is nothing around it is terrible.

Ok pros of this place: The pool is ok

Cons: Additional 122 dollar "cleaning fee". This hotel ran out of money, we were informed of this by some of the staff, so all the items in the rooms are junk and you will get charged over the top prices for them. Example they said a can opener costs $50. Are you kidding me? They have extreme security that will pretty much make it feel like prison instead of a vacation. The managers are no help at all either. The manager woman repeatedly belittled me and cut me off when I came to complain about our hot water not working. She just wanted me out of her hair and made me feel unwelcome. The head of security will also give you a hard time because he's on a power trip of sorts. When he can to turn the hot water on, yes we had to get them to turn it on since they won't do it unless you ask, he told my friend that if he wanted to he could kick him out because of the shirt he was wearing, which just to be clear was not offensive in any way. They also lie on their website, most of the amenities they say they have aren't completed yet. They have no internet, no poolside bar and grill, no poolside service, no gym, no car wash area and no children's playground. When asked about it they were quite casual in telling us that none of that was there and we'd been lied to.

Bottom Line: The staff is unfriendly and not helpful, except for a select few (like one). The hotels are cheap and a facade. They will look for any excuse to charge you extra fees. Far from the main beach and bars. Don't get swindled stay somewhere else. Seriously anywhere else.

A very large 2 bedroom/2 bathroom apartment #522. Fairly new but in "an after WILD party shape". Not extremely clean.
Couch and chairs were not comfortable and stained (just like all the rugs). Tiny tubs with shower heads. Most of the furniture were in a bad shape (chipped, broken, scratched...) Blinds / lamps broken , glass table top, glass shelf in fridge. Many broken doors /locks.Beware of all the damages after all, you are paying a $250 us security deposit (refundable IF NO damage). Make sure it's clean since you are also paying $95. us for cleaning fee + a $10. registration fee. It was very quiet, secure. From a very large balcony you can see the ocean but also construction site and the back of a Winn Dixie(grocery store). Access to the beach by walking through a parking lot and crossing a 4 lane road. The pool is nice ,huge and heated. Nice whirlpool too.

A lot of false advertising on their website. Apparently "private beach access" means having to walk about 2 kilometers across a highway, private.

Further, stated they had free wireless internet, which they didn't.

They have a lot of hidden cleaning and deposit fees when you check in that are suprises. $88 for cleaning per stay and a $250 deposit in addition to whatever they take out on your credit card for the stay itself. The deposit took about 30 days to be refunded.

The rooms themselves are decent, but smelled funny. They have a lot of bizarre rules as to what they expect you to clean, even though your paying nearly $100 for a cleaning fee.

Area didn't seem particularly safe, as there were several police stops while we were there and some of the other guests didn't seem very polite.

Oh, and the view is of the back of a Winn-Dixie supermarket.

Had A great time , the staff here were very helpfull and extremely friendly. The facility is very good and we enjoyed the location as it provided a quiet setting but is only a short walk to the beach. We enjoyed our daily dip in the magnificent pool and our soak in the hot tub.Our plan is to return next year for a longer stay. We thank you all for making our vacation memorable.

I booked a one-night stay here and prepaid in full through Expedia. The property was nice. Condo was large and clean, pool was lovely. The problem was that after we got back, we noticed a $121 charge on our credit card (in addition to the amount we paid through Expedia). When we called, they informed us that the charges were for a housekeeping fee, reservation fee, and insurance waiver. I have heard of hotels tacking on a small "resort fee", but this is ridiculous. The fees in this case were double what we acutally paid for the room. This is completely unwarranted and I will be disputing these charges.

  • Liked — Nice condo and pool
  • Disliked — hidden fees, weird location behind a grocery store
